I absolutely love Monster’s Ink and it’s employees! I have been coming in and getting tattooed here since I moved to south Florida about a year and a half ago (and about 10 tattoos later). Not once has the service been anything short of spectacular and 150% accommodating to all of my wants and needs. The shop is incredibly clean, the employees are nothing but nice and helpful and go above and beyond to make sure that everyone’s tattoo experience is pleasant and exactly what they want. I never been anything less than completely shocked and in love with every piece I get from Jess and the quality of her work. Anyone who gets tattooed by Jess knows that they are most certainly getting the best bang for your buck with her. As long as Monster’s Ink is still open and Jess tattoos there, I will be getting my work done there. When I originally read the reviews on this tattoo shop, there were only a few bad ones, I am now one of those due to my recent experience. I am no stranger to tattoos, I had won a 1 hour free tattoo session from a local event, which I was ecstatic about! I called prior to going in asking the prices of things, and explaining to the artist that the piece I wanted wasn't that large, I also explained to the artist(Jess) over the phone I would be heading up there that evening, she said that was fine, and we could possibly get it done that evening. When my girlfriend and I showed up, the tattoo shop was not that busy, and we were told to come back in 30 minutes( which was fine). When we came back, I spoke with Jessica( tattoo artist) showing her the small/medium piece I was curious about getting. At first she seemed nice, explaining that it should only be an hour, and how she charges 150 and hour( again I was fine with that). I then pulled my certificate out, and the artist persona changed. There was no congratulations, or even any acknowledgment that they gave it out. She then cocked her head side ways, and stated " well.... It may take longer than an hour because of line work, and ink, and that I will need to bring extra money with me". I explained to her I understand of course, I would tip, and of course I would bring extra if needed. I mean I won a free session... I don't mind paying extra. She then told me she was booked till Sunday, and there was no way to get it done that evening when the shop was empty, even though earlier that day she spoke to me over the phone stating it was definitely a possibly to getting it done that evening or soon. I said that was fine, and went on my way. Later when I got home my partner and I decided to give the owner a call due to the change of persona and rudeness from this tattoo artist. When we called my partner was very polite, and asked for the manager, and owner not stating who we were yet ... It was the same tattoo artist on the phone.. she then hung up on my partner! We called back, and a gentleman picked up explaining, he can't give the owners information out, and that he knew who we were. My girlfriend and I were flabbergasted at their behavior as "professionals". Later on that evening I received two text from the tattoo artist, the first one was explaining how she knew it was my partner who called because she looked her up( caller ID, then FB) and how she was polite with me, and explaining everything on how I won this free session and she was trying to work with me( as I call it back pedaling), and that if I don't respond the certificate will be void . I did not respond... I then received another harassing message on how I should not be abusing the employees, and how they gave this free session out the kindness of their hearts. I have not responded due to fact, I do not want to engage with people who are like that. I was simply going to speak with the owner, and just explain how she acted , and a total change of persona when I showed the certificate. My advice to anyone looking for a tattoo shop... I wouldn't go here. They are rude, irresponsible, manipulative, and very greedy. For them to hang-up the phone, and then to receive harassing messages to my personal phone, because all I did was ask to speak to a manager is unprofessional, and sad. First off, let me start by saying me and 3 friends initially intended on getting tattoos at Tattoo Blues, when we walked in the guy in the shop said he was closing up in 45 minutes and didn’t want to tattoo us. Fine you don’t want my money or business so me and my friends took it elsewhere, and that just so happened to be 4 shops down to Monster Ink Tattoo. When we walked in, we met Jess who wasn’t even working. We told her what he wanted and she invited us in with open arms. Jess did 2 of my friends and Turtle did me and the other. We were there well passed closing time but they didn’t seem to care, we were laughing, joking and bullshitting like we’ve known each other for 10 years. I even went and brought pizza back, but unfortunately both Jess and Turtle are staying away from the gluten, so More pizza for me. My tattoo came out amazing, I couldn’t be more happier with it. These guys definitely earned another customer for life, unlike another tattoo shop, *cough tattoo blues cough*. Absolutely highly recommend them no matter how big or small or complex your tattoo is. While the place was clean and the staff was fairly friendly, we pushed me to add a tip before my service had even been fulfilled. (Strike one) They over charged me by at least 40% what all they're nearby competitors were charging for the same piercing service, (Strike two) but I went through with it because they assured me that the up charge was because they make sure their piercings are surgical steel... well, they are not! (Strike three!) The bar might be but the balls that screw on to the bar piercing were most definitely not! I have a tendency to have allergic reactions to fake jewelry so when my piercer stated that they are a bit more expensive, it was because "they make sure they buy the good stuff" yet I spent almost 10 months waiting on my industrial piercing to heal and it only seemed to get worse and worse and the time passed. I have several cartilage piercings and even had my tongue pierced, in all of my experiences, I've healed fairly quickly, yet this one would not regardless of what I'd use to clean. I was desperate for it to heal and after the usual saline solution just didn't make a difference, I tried natural stuff like tea tree oil which I use for several other things, still nothing. It wasn't until I changed out the jewelry that it took only a couple of days for my piercing to look significantly better! It only took a month without their over priced jewelry my piercing was 100% healed! I'll never go back or recommend it to anyone for a piercing!Read Less

I've been here twice in a week. And that's just because how awesome these people are. Chris and Turtle have taken such good care of me and my friend for piercings. The first time i went was by a referral from another friend and I don't regret it. They were professional and still friendly with a relaxed atmosphere. While waiting for the sterilization to be done we chit chat and joke around. And this second visit Turtle was happy to make sure my questions were answered about my healing and my friend's piercing is perfect and she said it barely even hurt. First time there with my girl turttle treat us very good, it was late and he was the only artist in the shop,,,results...good but one of the tattoos needed a retouch..never happened....then we been looking for him for another tattoo he wasnt there, and the guy that i assume was the "host" treat us like shit, the " artist" that proces the design stoped taking care.of us because some friends showed up and litteraly ignore us and handle the design to the "host"....the guy talked to another artist that overpriced the design for like a hundred more $$....then here comes the great customer service..the host "he said is 250 for this" i said no the artist told us 150....no no...let me kow now cause the "artist" is gonna stop doing a tattoo to do your girlfriend's...what?...and if you want to...you need to pay in advance...never ever nobody asked to pay first for the tatto......i told to the "host" that is not how this biz is supposed to work....well we charge in advance because we dont know if you guys gonna pay for the tattoo at the end...what a crab of customer service,,,,we just walk away..waste of time for sure ...and then next visit looking for turtle, we found him and he start working on the lettering my gf's wanted and he just simply told us that he wasnt feeling like tattoing....after half and hour working on the design she wanted,,,i forgot to metioned that we made an appointment with him...sorry guys but ill give a call tomorrow and we set the session for the very next day and i give you guys a discount...call never happend and we just realize that he didnt like the design or us,,,,well....enough to say about these "artists"....we took our biz to another shop and now we are very glad we did it,,and yes guys you treat customer like shit and no good vibes from the staff,,,,JUST DO YOUR SELF A FAVOR AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE....thanks monsters ink to open up our eyes....good luck...i would.put no starts but doesnt have that option..... I THOUGHT I WAS A TOTAL WHIMP - til I walked into Monsters Ink. I got a tattoo done by Turtle and would definitely recommend anyone to him. Super knowledgeable about tattoos and after talking with him for a few minutes, I could tell how passionate he was about tattooing and that he takes pride in his work. SO I FREAKING TOOK A LEAP OF FAITH (Trust me when I say I am not the kinda person to get a tat on a whim)..... and I'm so happy I did! It's been a few weeks since Turtle hooked it up - I google searched a sunflower, something I've always wanted on my ribs just never had the guts to do - he did his art magic, placed it exactly where I wanted it and tattooed me for about 3/4 hours. For a chick who only ever got a small tat on her foot, I was so scared about putting a tat on my ribs, everyone hypes it up like "OMG the ribs are the worst, rahhhahhhhAHHHHHH". Dude, Turtle has such a calming energy that I was totally relaxed. I was basically drooling on his chair by the time he was done with the outline. I mean yeah, filling in started to hurt after a while, and when Turtle recognized that, he would stop, ask if I was ok, give me a break if need be and also used some kind of magical tattoo soap that made my skin numb if the pain was too intense.Once it was done, Turtle gave me detailed aftercare instructions and his cell #, just in case I needed anything. Like I said, just super awesome vibes from everyone, really glad I chose Monsters Ink instead of the jerks down the street (the ones toward the right of Monsters Ink if you're heading towards Sunrise) who treated my boyfriend and I like a bunch of a**holes. So I went to this tattoo shop in the beginning of November and it's right now almost the end of April. I spoke with the owner Julian who did that tattoo and he told me to come back when it's healed. Sadly I haven't been able to because my skin is completely scared. It's a damn shame because it's right on my chest. When I first got it done it leaked out of my chest for the first 3 days first sign I have ever seen something going terribly wrong. I then noticed it was never going now it has been a 3D tattoo with terrible lines. His wife and the young girl that works behind the desk were a disaster! Running around the tattoo shop like it was a child's daycare. His wife was completely wasted after leaving work from across the street being extremely intense and vulgar the two girls were humping each other talking about things no customer really wanted to hear. Extremely unprofessional and very upsetting on how things turned out that day. I will continue to spread the word about this experience because it was so unreal. TRUST YOUR INTSINCT Wanted a simple full moon tattoo. The minuet I went in I felt unwelcoming vibes from the tattoo artist who had a cold attitude. Saw 4.5 stars, thought we would try it out. Me and a friend tried getting 2 small tattoos on our ankle, ying-yang signs... They were the rudest people.. From the beginning they started making comments about the tattoo being complicated because it was asymmetrical and it being a bad idea. Even if they were joking, which they didn't seem do be, you don't say that. There's nothing complicated about a ying yang sign. Prices were being flopped everywhere from 40-80 each. They probably thought we were young, rich and dumb. Upon telling them we did not want to go through with it, due to the fact that they were going to charge us $80 each for a poker chip sized tattoo of a ying yang sign, one artist got very aggresive and even started yelling at us as we left. "That's fine, when someone else messes it up, come back here and we'll fix it for free. Lose the attitude". No attitudes were given on our part. Never a smile or a feeling of comfort from them. I went in and got my nose (nostril) pierced and it was clean and quick. The two people working were friendly and offered us waters while my friend and I filled out our information. The woman who pierced my nose was funny and kept telling me stories about her piercings which calmed me down, since I was nervous. She talked me through the whole process and it barely hurt when she pushed the needle through, and I have a low pain tolerance. Julian did a fantastic job revising my tattoo, and he made me feel very comfortable during the entire process. Upon completion of my tattoo I was provided with very detailed care instructions and,  I was encouraged to call the shop with any questions or concerns. What originally drew me to Monsters Ink was the fact that they offer 13 dollar piercings and tattoos on the 13th,which is a great deal considering things like that can get pretty pricey. So I ended up getting my nipples peirced by Chris!! He was excellent!! Funny as hell but very professional. Everyone who works there is very fun to be around,welcoming and professional all at the same time. I had heard a lot of hype around town and various social media about Monsters Ink before we showed up to have a little "piercing party", as we had found out they were having a promo night of $13 piercings. I was pretty excited, but nowhere near as much as the girls were. This was going to be a bonding experience for the two of them. The plan was that Jinx was planning on getting her tragus pierced, I was going to get my septum done, and my daughter wanted a simple two lobe job. First we were told that to have my daughter's earlobes pierced, I would need to take a release form to be notarized.. Yo bro, I am her father, and she has full permission from myself as well as her mother (and grandparents too if you're so concerned).. but then again this is a business and CYA is the name of the game given the liability issues that can arise given the sheer amount of morons who love to sue here in SoFla. I do not like it, but I get it, at least I think I do. Seems like you could take down all of my info and have me sign the form or whatever, but then the real bomb drops.. we were told they do not pierce earlobes.. really? really? Wtf are you guys talking about you don't pierce earlobes? Years ago, piercing was a trade that I dabbled in.. and earlobes are the first thing you learn to do (and traditionally, it's the first piercing most people get), so i really don't understand why anyone can go to the mall and have their or their kid's ears punctured with a filthy clip gun with literally anyone claiming to be a guadian (without identification) signing a release whereas in this pro shop, direct parental consent (with identification) is not honored. So I guess it's the double whammy of you need to go have this form notarized and we don't pierce earlobes anyway.Needless to say, the whole experience aside from the (strange as it may seem) professional demeanor of the reception. While I realize that this review is negative, it is also fair. The staff were very nice and did not come off as rude, it's not their policy as they  just work there. They were friendly, and who can bitch about a pro piercing (excluding genitals and dermals as they cost more)(oh yeah don't forget earlobes because they don't do that) for $13? And the kicker is, I still want to go back for work because as far as piercings go, the rep is solid, though despite what you read on yelp, the tats here are merely a bit above average as opposed to stellar. I went with a girlfriend to Monsters Ink for a smallish tattoo. Kelly did an amazing job going over fonts and quickly drawing origional artwork. From the moment we walked in the door we were happy with our choice in shops. it was super clean and the staff, Chris (purple) and Kelly were so nice. It felt like I was hanging out with friends. my tattoo came out so cute and the procedure was nearly pain free. I will definitely return for more work and will send as many people as I can their way. Julian did a beautiful realistic dahlia tattoo on the inside of my arm while I was visiting Fl. I have many tattoos and this is one of my very favorites, I always get tons of compliments. He is a true artist with an amazing eye. Julian made me feel comfortable the moment I walked in which is not always the case in many places.
