Thankfully he fixed it and made it look better then what it originally looked like! He is a very level headed, warm soul. I have gotten many piercings by Derek and don't know why he's gone and sad to see him gone but Chrissy seems just as nice and qualified. Had nipples done yesterday by Chrissy and my girls got nose and lip done. 24 hours later we are all still doing great! My mom got a daith piercing there. Derek did her first one and did a great job. She returned about 2 weeks ago to get the other ear done and Derek is gone. Chrissy did the piercing. She was complaining to her trainee while doing the piercing about people judging her for having tattoos the whole time. She must have been distracted and not sanitized the equipment properly because 4 days​ later my mom had a to go to urgent care with an incredibly swollen and infected ear. She had 10 days of antibiotics and couldn't even sleep on that side of her head due to the pain and swelling. Now today my mom texts me that she has the flu. I get her to go to the doctor again. It's not the flu, it's the infection from the piercing! She has to see an infectious disease specialist today for possible IV antibiotics! She is too nice to raise hell about this, but I'm not!!! This place needs to fire Chrissy before we sue!!Read Less

I stumbled upon this place accidentally, and couldn't be happier that I did! The staff was so nice and welcoming when I walked in the door (which is hard to find from tattoo shops). They immediately started getting information from my friend and me on what we wanted. They were able to tattoo us right then, no wait! Justin not only personally designed and tattooed the best tattoo I've ever gotten, but was also the nicest and most personable tattoo artist I've ever had! Went to get a nose ring and the employees were adamant that they were not going to pierce with a nose ring. I asked why and they said because it does not heal correctly. I needed to have a stud first the. In 4-6 weeks have the stud removed and insert a nose ring. Left with care instructions and a reminder to call for anything! Clean, fast a original! Love them! It was clean but all they did was take me back pierce my bellybutton and I left I was givin no instructions on how to take care of my piercing or anything of that matter in my opinion I should of went to classic ink there perfect they did a perfect job with my other piercing I love my experience there and another sketch thing about this place is they made me pay before I got my piercing that's not normal Read Less

Haven't had any work done here but I called to seek assistance from a reputable tattoo and body piercing shop for assistance. I had a micro-dermal piercing I wanted to remove. When asking some questions about removal and whatnot the gentleman I spoke with got rude and interrupted me several times just pushing me off to see a doctor without telling me what type of doctor I should see (dermatologist, GP, etc). You would think they would be helpful based upon their reviews...just disappointing. Read Less

The first time I visited Body Effects Tattoo & Body Piercings Inc was when I was 15 (I am not 27) to get my navel pieced. 11 years ago, this place made a big impression regarding their technique and their customer service. I currently live in Northeast Florida where I have acquired two tattoos from a supposed reputable tattoo company that was quite expensive. I have the Eye of Horus on my lower back when I was 18 and I most recently gotten a tattoo in honor of my patron saint on my rib cage from that place. I noticed my Egyptian eye was raised from the get-go and was informed that a raised tattoo from the tattoo parlor meant the artist did a great job for going deep and the most recent tattoo (1 month) was already losing color. Obviously, I was naive and learned better when I started watching a 'worst tattoo" show and became obviously pissed. I originally went to Body Effects a few months ago to get more information about micro-dermal piercings. I met with Derrick (I believe), who was young and surprisingly very knowledgeable and extremely professional. I was particularly impressed that Derrick was extremely conscientious in informing the pros/cons and the expectations for after-care. During the end of our conversation, I was again impressed when, Nate, a tattoo artist, was providing a consultation with a walk-in client who wanted a tattoo on her neck. He declined to provide her the service due to those type of tattoos not keeping ink well enough and told her "ethically" he could not do it. It became clear that these guys that work for this company definitely care about their art and are not just there to make a quick buck, The next month, I came back (I wanted to take time to think about my permanent piercings), I went to Derrick to get my piercings and was pleasantly surprised that he took time and even consulted with his colleagues that my piercings were perfectly placed before piercing. Although 2 out of my 3 piercings hurt like hell, I was extremely satisfied with his work. After my piercings, I inquired with Derrick about fixing my tattoos, and he immediately brought over Nate to give me a consultation. He diagnosed what the other tattoo artists did wrong and gave me a very reasonable estimate to re-tattoo me once my piercings healed. Mind you, I was told by another tattoo artist that my raised tattoo could not be re-tattooed. After my appointment with Nate, I could not have been happier. He not only re-tattooed my tats, but he made them look even better. He was truly an artist and took immense pride. Plus, it didn't hurt that he had a "light hand." I highly recommend this place.
