My best friend and I decided to get matching yin yang tattoos on our right ankles. The tattoo artists as well as the rest of the workers there were so nice and friendly. The price also wasn't bad but the tattoo could be better. The outline of both our tattoos was not perfect but we weren't too upset because we understood how for the cheap price we paid we weren't going to get a perfect tattoo. Also, it's been about a month since we got the tattoos and both of our tattoos look dry and wrinkly. We cleaned and put lotion on it but still it looks dry. I was researching tattoo shops because I finally decided to get my first tattoo. I landed on Big Kahuna because of its great reputation even though I live in Miami and let me tell you, it’s well worth the drive. The shop is clean and the people are friendly and accommodating. I met with Nick and we discussed what I wanted. Nick is incredibly knowledgeable and quite an artist. He took my idea and designed something better than I had imagined. He’s very sweet and super easy to talk to. He made me feel relaxed and at ease the entire time. I was referred here by a friend because it's really convenient and popular in the area. I brought my own design and everything. I was told immediately that any tattoo I got done had to have a black ink line around it, I couldn't have the teal blue star in the center like I wanted. I was helped by Matt. As soon as I got home I noticed a line on my tattoo was crooked. I swung by the next day and was told it was too soon to do anything to it. I went back to the location in an appropriate time and really the only thing he did was make ONE line on my tattoo thicker than the others to make it less obvious that it was crooked. Not really sure if it had to do with the original error but the color seemed to bleed from just that one line and is inconsistent with the rest of the tattoo. All in all, I feel I overpaid and didn't feel like I got a good tattoo there honestly. I've gotten more tattoos since, at different places obviously, and got much better work at similar or better prices. Read Less

Clean, professional and beyond experienced. My teen got several piercing there not one infection everything looks and healed perfect. They give detailed instructions and only use sterile equipment. Omg worst tattoo place ever . I'm sorry I hate bashing people it's not in my nature . They mest up my tattoo so bad I am paying over $2000 in laser removal . Everyone keeps telling me to take them to court . What I would really like is a manager to do the right thing contact me and have the person fired and pay for my removal . God, making this review wasn't easy because I try not to give anybody a hard time but sometimes you just need to speak up because something's not right. Making a drive to Boca from where I live is one hell of a drive just for a 5-minute consultation, so when I contacted Nicole Lee, I made sure we were both on the same page on what I was looking for. My schedule is hectic than I would like it to be and decided to schedule the appointment weeks in advance on a Saturday since I was free on that day. My consultation went fine and was stoked. There was no deposit since she disclosed to me she trusts customers on good faith they'll show up and not cancel. Cool, no problem. Here is where it gets ridiculous on three separate occasions: 1) Fast forward to Friday, a day before my appointment (I wish I was joking), Nicole texts me letting me know she's double booked. Um...seriously? I remember standing beside her making the appointment in her iPad, there wasn't a schedule confliction when she made it because I would've spotted it right away. However, the most important question is why and how she managed to disclose this to me less than 24 hours from the appointment? Still, I decided to give her the benefit again and rescheduled. 2) My rescheduled appointment nears and I receive a text giving me the excuse she has to go drop off? or pick up? a friend from the airport. Of course, I'm just as stunned, if not, more than the first excuse she gave me. Something kept telling me this tattoo was never going to happen. I ignored my instinct and still went ahead to reschedule once more. Even my sister told me it's not worth it if I have to go through much trouble to be given some decent respect and consideration.3) Could the excuses get tackier? I didn't think so but boy did Nicole prove me wrong. She canceled without telling me. Here's the craziest part. I found out about this when she posted it on IG that she'd be out of town for a guest spot and fell on the day of my rescheduled appointment! Had I not check my entire feed that day, I would've shown up because guess what, she did not notify m that she'd be out of town! Incredible right? At this point, I considered this the third strike and didn't both to reply to her message that she was back in town. I cannot keep up with an artist who continuously rescheduled me with elementary excuses and especially an artist who did not take the initiative to genuinely apologize. There was no sense of urgency at all.Ultimately, I wish I would've trusted my instinct and said no to rescheduling the first time. This is by far with the most burdensome experience I have dealt with any artist at all. Again, I don't enjoy giving bad reviews but in this instance, I shouldn't shy away from how ridiculous this entire process was TRYING to get a tattoo. I figured the clients were always the ones giving an artist a hard time. I guess not. This is just a reflection on Nicole's professionalism, not the entire store nor staff :-) Read Less

Had such a great experience at Big Kahuna Tattoo & Piercing yesterday afternoon. First I had the pleasure of meeting tattoo artist Scott when I made my appointment a few days prior, and I'm super happy I did. He is an amazing artist and an awesome guy. Scott had a lot of patience while I was trying to figure out exactly where I wanted to place my tattoo as well as figuring out the perfect size, he's a sweetheart. He never made me feel rushed, he only made me feel important as... his client. I absolutely love the art he drew for me, he totally understood exactly what I wanted as well as what I was trying to convey with the design. The significance of my tattoo was super important to me, and Scott totally got what I was expressing and he absolutely nailed it with his work up of the design just by what I told him. Now that's a great artist. He made my idea come to fruition through his art and now I have an incredibly meaningful tattoo that I truly love. Scott definitely has skills as a tattoo artist, he is spot on with technique and works quickly with precision and accuracy. Ultimately creating a flawless tattoo. Scott was also professional and keeps a clean and tidy work station, that always brings comfort to anyone getting a tattoo, and it definitely did for me. He made me feel completely at ease and comfortable the entire time, I am very appreciative of that. I love this place!I got my dermals done here, 3 down my spine, and they looked amazing and lasted for 3 years! Most artists from other places would tell me the dermals would reject within a few months but not mine! I'm sure it depends on the persons body but I know it also definitely depends on the piercer! I also came here three years later to get them removed and that worked out great too! Of course it took time but he did it as gentle as possible. He even discounted me because it took a little longer to get one of them out. A lot of my friends who are locals in Boca come here regularly and love it too. I travelled into delray for a vaction,  But mostly to remember my brother mike who recently passed.  One thing on the list to do was getting a tattoo in honor of mike.  I was given this shop name by the locals saying you can't go wrong with any of the artist as they are all amazing.  I walked into open arms .  the shop is welcoming with extremely friendly , genuine,  caring staff willing to listen to your story and what your looking for.  I started passing through the different portfolios and quickly got drawn into brandons work.  I dont know how he did it so well,  but he captured everything i never knew i wanted.  The care and detail is easily seen in his work. For someone who never met me or my brother this piece screams mike as well as it being absolutely beautuful. The colors are stunning . Went in on Black Friday to get my tragus pierced. The shop was very clean and professional. Jeremiah did the piercing and he was just wonderful. Very quick but also very nice and down to earth. I could tell how much experience he had just by how he carried himself. I was nervous before I talked to Jeremiah because I had already gotten this piercing once before and it had to be taken out due to healing problems. Jeremiah (sic?) has been taking care of my piercings for over 8 years ! Two times he's healed me from bad piercings done by others. I came in on Tuesday after not seeing him for a few months and didn't realize he doesn't work that day. I wanted to get my lower navel pierced and let one of the tattoo artists do it even though I was there for Jeremiah. Even the tattoo artist, a woman, I forget her name did a fantastic job. I came back a few days later to do my ears and Jeremiah was there and did 5 piercings all at once with almost no pain. It's been about a week and both my belly button and my ears are healing fabulously with little to no care at all. Jeremiah is the best that's for sure. He is who I would write a review for. I'm rating big kahunas 5 stars because even the darn tattoo artist did an amazing job with my belly button. It's clear that everyone in there knows what their doing. This place is awesome! After the artist took a look at my design, they advised that I NOT do it. We went over the design and I went back twice with revisions until the artist gave the ok. I found this very impressive as I had gone to a couple of other places that just said "sure, I'll do this for you" Obviously the artists at Kahuna take much more pride in their work and aren't just after your money! Stopped in to Big Kahuna last night after leaving Mizner Park as I was in the mood to get a couple tattoos that I've been wanting.  After hearing great things on Big Kahuna, reading Yelp reviews, and being disappointed that the competitors shops never seem to be open or overly friendly, I stopped in.  It was about 9-ish last night and two others were getting tattooed in there.  I was right off the bat comfortable with the shop as everyone was super friendly, greeted us at the door, and were more than willing to hash through ideas and draw up what I wanted without acting like it was an inconvenience....they were very accommodating.  After going through ideas and agreeing on the placement, I ended up getting two tattoos last night and they look great.  My tattoo artist was friendly throughout the process and I have nothing but good things to say about Big Kahuna.  If you are around the area and looking to get inked up, I'd recommend Big Kahuna.  Prices were very reasonable as well.  I will post pics once it heals up. After calling to inquire about scheduling an appointment the guy on the phone told me to stop by early so the artist could meet with me and create a custom design if I wanted. I let the artist, Jason, take the phrase I wanted and let him put his creative spin on it. This is by far the best shop in Boca Raton and Palm beach county area. I have been getting tattoed their for years and wouldnt go elsewhere. They had a change of ownership about four years ago and since then things have gotten even better. the shop is completely remodeled and looks great. The artists are amazing with no attitudes. It used to be tough to walk in there sometimes but now its always a friendly welcome. Shane does all my work and is a great guy. The vibe is so chill and their always jamming good music now. I have seen alot of people continually coming back for work from the other artists and its nice to know their so much talent in one shop. Dont be fooled by other shops in the area trying to immitae Big Kahuna. It used to be the only shop in that area but now it seems their popping up all around to try and duplicate thier success. I live in Upstate NY and Travel to Boca a couple times a year. This is the only place I will go to have my tattoo's done! (and I work next to an army base where parlors are abundant!) I went last year to have them design an ankle ban with all my grandchildren's name - an hour later I came back - the design was done and perfect and an hour after that I walked out with my new Tat!!!
