The shop is nice, and the work is incredible however the customer service is crap. And not from all of the artists, but specifically one named Kevin. The man is a very talented artist, but talent can only take you so far in ANY business. The last thing you ever want to do is treat your customers like they are undeserving of the time you're spending, ESPECIALLY when that's what they are paying for. The first night my brother, his wife and I went for our tattoos, we were asked to come back the following day because it was too close to closing time and they wouldn't have enough time to complete what we wanted to get done. However we figured that was fair, and set an appointment to come back. The following day comes, we come back at the allotted time, and supposedly someone is ahead of us (even though we were on time) so we are then asked to come back in an hour. We don't complain, we leave. We show up AGAIN an hour later, and still have to wait an additional hour while he draws the pieces, which wouldn't have been a problem if we didn't watch him walk in and out 2 times and then bring something before us that was in no way what we asked for. We politely asked him to re-draw them, as these are pieces that will be permanently on our bodies and we would like them to look good, and he then proceeded to complain about re-drawing, and doing any work for us at all as in his own words he "has a family" and we were being too "particular". So we left. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe it's too much as a customer to expect decent service and not be treated as a burden by someone who's clearly just too lazy and not wanting to do their job. To be quite frank I believe, if he really cared about his family he wouldn't have turned away money that he could use for his family as it is a Sunday and there was no one else in the shop but us at that time. Omg I can not say enough about the amazing customer service I received as soon as I walked in the ink spot DT. I have been wanting a tattoo for years and I had gone to another tattoo shop before walking in here. Let's just say I was upset walking in to a tattoo shop that I was told to go to up the street on mills. I walked in and I was not acknowledged for a good 7-10 mins. When they finally came to greet me they were not very welcoming!!!! I showed them a picture of what I was looking for and I felt very judged!!!! The artist that we're there all of them came up with some sort of excuse to not be able to do the tattoo oh and not able to accommodate me anytime soon. So I left and went straight to ink spot DT. As soon as I walked in Kim the manger greeted us and was so welcoming. I showed her a picture of what I was looking for with in 2 mins of being there, I met tattoo artist Troy and before I knew it they were already working on my tattoo. I didn't think twice I paid in full for my tattoo without question. I felt so comfortable there. The other shop lost out big time. I plan on coming back for many more tattoos, not to mention I have a ton of friends and family that will be coming back to see Troy for his amazing work. I think its pretty amazing how after Troy being an tattoo artist for over 16 plus years. That I was able to bring him a new tattoo and able to inspire him. He was amazing, super nice. I've lived here in downtown orlando for 10 years, I've heard nothing but good things coming from friends and others that have been to inkspot downtown. Thankfully they were right, lol!I decided to get my first real tattoo this spring and courtesy of chris snow blessing me with his work, I couldn't be happier! He really knows his shit, I mean really... the way he answered my questions on things he was doing put me at ease, he broke down everything literally. From the concept of the design and the line drawing, and how he was going to shade it, to the sterile procedures and showing the needles and other tools he was going to use. My first negative review online, EVER. I came in weeks ago to get a basic ear lobe piercing, and they wanted to charge me $55. Since it was my birthday, I was like "ehh...why not" YOLO right? I would've been better off at Claire's. Anyways, Fezzie the girl that pierced my ear was pretty friendly, and afterwards she said they would change out my earring free of charge once it's healed.Fast forwards to weeks later... idk how but the ball for the back of the earring fell off during my shower but I didn't want the hole to close up so I put in a temporary earring with the pointy back, which is uncomfortable and pokes me at night when I'm sleeping. So the next day (tonight) after a double shift at work, I called them and explained what happened, and the girl (different girl) over the phone was really nice and said they'd take care of me. So I swung by. When I came in, Fezzie was there and wanted to charge me $15-$20 for one little stud earring. I assumed they probably wanted to charge because it was before the 6-8weeks healing time. Anyways, I asked in a friendly manner if should I come back in a couple of weeks to change it out and Fezzie was like "for what..." with this look. SERIOUSLY...? I'm just thinking she was more friendly the first time because she was working for tips, which I did give her (after seeing all the tip signs plastered all over the walls).Anyways after a long day of work, I was tired and fed up and didn't want to bother with it anymore. They should've clearly specified that they weren't going to honor the "free of charge" earrings, which probably costed them 99 cents to buy. This place is disgusting! So unprofessional, especially the piercer. He was one of those people that swear his sh!t don't stink. He was swearing a wife beater, shorts down his assss and we can clearly see his polyester sponge bob underwear. His nails were also longer than mine which just goes to show how sanitary he is. A year ago I went in for a daith and naval piercing. The belly button was a last minute idea and even tho my regular piercer wasn't there ... the girl seemed confident. Red flags everywhere! She asked what I'd like to start with and when I said maybe the ear first, she said " well I already have the belly stuff out here..." (((why even ask me then???))) It took forever because she was trying to answer phones and get my piercing stuff ready. She was using her iPhone with piercing gloves on and I actually asked her to change them out. The faith was weird and wwwaaayyyy to long of an earring but she promised me it would heal better and look really cute later.... it didn't seem like it was in the right place. When I got home (to Alaska) it wasn't healing right and I had someone at a pro place look at it and all three piercer agreed it was not a daith, but a mix between a helix and a daith and advised me to take it out immediately. So disappointing. The belly button bled "more than usual" she said and she stuck me with another needle. It looked a little shallow to me, but she insisted it was the best place to pierce it. It was extremely painful and I definitely cried as she forced the jewelry in. She told me that my metal allergies wouldn't be a problem since they used surgical steel jewelry. ONE YESR LATER.... still not healed. I ordered some ACTUAL surgical steel jewelry because this fake cheap ring they put in my body was rejecting like crazy. I will probably have an ugly scar the rest of my life because this girl had no idea what she was doing! I feel like such a fool ignoring the red flags and trusting this dummy. I will never see that money again either. I'm so mad that my belly button is disfigured forever and there's nothing I can do about it. HORRIBLE PLACE!!!!!! Obviously they hire just anyone here... after all that she asked if I wouldn't mind walking down the street to the ATM because she prefers cash tips...? I was like, Uh no that's not happening ... Just a quick note about Chris Snow, at Ink Spot on Colonial, in downtown Orlando. What a GREAT experience! In town for business, from Vegas. Las Vegas has a SHIT-TON of shops to choose from. Most, are filled with dickheads who THINK that they're the ONLY artists around! (And I use the word ARTIST, lightly!) I've walked in and OUT of many of these shops, saying 'Why would I employ these assholes, give them a BUNCH of money, and be made to feel LUCKY, to have them TAKE said money?' Many are connected to HIGH rent casinos, and they display minimal talent at THAT! I went on line, looking for a REAL tat shop in Orlando, to visit when in a Orlando. Went to 5 shops and found much of the same. 'Booked 3 months out, cuz I'm SO good,' a few of them described. Until, I was lucky enough to meet Chris. Dude was polite, smart, listened CONCISELY to my design ideas. Met with him on a Saturday. He came in on his day off, and hooked me UP! I had a nasty cover-up, that is now a MEMORY! The Ink Spot is more or less a churn and burn tattoo chain. If you like clip art, this is the place. You'll want to talk to the staff for commissioned or custom pieces. This was the 2nd site we went to for a walk-in tatt after a previous experience with "Buda" @ the Old Town location. My friend was looking for an add-on to revamp a old tattoo using a reference piece he wanted to personalize. After we parked in date-rape alley and went in, "Eric" was the first to meet and greet us. It seemed like he would do the work however there were a few concerns. First, he looked stressed out trying to understand my friends request. When someone looks stuff up on google and says they can add to existing work while saying things like "I don't even know what that is", and "I cant believe he did that to you..." (referring to the existing tatt) means they are used to tracing and copying work. To add to the lack of artistry and professionalism, Eric stated he couldn't translate the reference piece into color, trying to change the design to negative space/ black and gray shading. Looking thru the portfolios wasnt bad but there were only a few key designs which stood out. After declining, we made our way to Lowbrow Art Productions where we all had a great experience. Ink Spot at Lakeland Mall - was in the mall for something else and saw the attractive shop. Met with Kevin and we found a US Flag that I really liked, we added the words "Lest We Forget". I'm diabetic and shortly into the session I felt faint, and was having a drop in my sugar. Kevin and the rest of the folks were SO understanding. I went to the Ink Spot in Fashion Square Mall.  I have been getting tattoos for 26 years and I KNOW when I am being taken advantage of.  I wanted a small (size is in the eye of the beholder.) tattoo and he quoted me $250.00.  I have 12 tattoos and never have I been charged that amount.  I have gotten 5 tattoos down there and the last one I got there was a Grateful Dead bear that was twice the size and way more detail and he charged me $125.  On my way out the guy just commented, "you just want a cheap price".  No, I want a fair price and I don't want to be taken advantage of.  Sorry Ink Spot, you just lost a really good and loyal customer. Went in today and met Troy and the crew at the Altamonte location. I am an Iraqi Freedom Vet and I needed a cover up on a piece that was done in 2003. I have never met an artist like Troy. He understood where I was coming from and what I needed. He went above and beyond what I thought I expected. I was treated with respect and they made sure I got the best design and the right look. This experience with this tattoo shop was horrible. I went in to get a quote for a simple 12 word quote tattoo and they quoted me $250. Now, yes the tattoo was to be on my side, however, as someone that has another quote on the other side of their body with twice the words and half the price I knew it was way too much. I can't quite give them 5 stars... yet (I will be back for more!). I set up an appointment 2 weeks ahead. Put down a deposit and went on my way. I showed up and the shop was not open. No one was there. I called the other location to see what was going on and they got ahold of the front desk chick who was on her way (can't remember her name, she was a sweetheart though). The shop hours list 10am as opening time. My appointment was at 11am. The girl opened the shop at 11:15. She called the artist, Chris Snow, who was stuck in traffic... At 11... Yeah ok. Chris initially seemed to be in a bad mood (probably that traffic) and he rushed around to set up. After everything though, he came up and chatted with me for a bit. He's really a nice guy. I drew up my scripting and put it on my shoulder. Looked good. He took the time to show me each instrument that was coming out of new packaging for sanitary purposes. He explained everything as he got set up. He was very professional and Chris really makes you feel relaxed. He talked a little and I zoned in on Pinterest. Before I knew it, he's like "ok have a look." I was done? That was quick. Granted it wasn't a lot, it was still quicker than the one I got at a different place. Looked great. Clean line work. Bootom line:  When I am ready to have mine - this is where I will go!My son has wanted to get a tattoo for a long time.  I promised him that if he didn't do something impetuous and waited until he was 21 and picked out something truly meaningful, I would make that my gift to him for his 21st birthday.He did and I did.He decided on getting his grandfather's (my) family crest done on his shoulder.  His older brother did the same thing about 6-7 years ago.  This tattoo was a way for my younger son to honor both his grandfather and his older brother.Once he had his idea we went looking for a place.  We went to another place on Orange Ave and when we walked in we were barely acknowledged.  My son tried to explain to the guy what he wanted and to find out a ball park price range.  We were really put off by the attitude and lack of customer service so we left.  I suggested we go to Ink Spot because I had read some reviews on Yelp and the place has been there forever.We walked in and were immediately greeted.  The guy took the time to listen to my son and he told us what to expect, approximately, price wise and also how the process worked.My son went back a few days later and gave the artist, Snow, a few photos of the family crest and also gave him a photo of his brother's tattoo.  He paid a deposit and had an appointment to come back a week later,When we came back Snow showed him what he came up with.  My son loved it!  Snow listened to him during the initial consultation and created a mix of the actual crest, his brother's version and a few small modifications that they had discussed.Snow went to work and from the moment he started we all sat there amazed at his talent.  The actual process took about 3 hours and my son said it was not painful.The end result is more than either one of us could have hoped for.My son only wanted black ink with the thought to maybe add color in the future.  Again, Snow listened to what he wanted and shaded some of the tattoo and left some spots open for where he would likely want to put color in the future.The tattoo cost $350.  It is a pretty good size and I feel that the price was reasonable.I would highly recommend Ink Spot and Snow.  Thank you for a permant memory that my son will always treasure. Tattoos are near permanent and tattoo artists need to have an extra ordinary amount of attention to detail, thoroughness, and follow-through. I got my industrial pierced here almost a month ago. My friend and I went in together to get pierced, and we asked the piercer for advice before we decided what to get. She told us if our ear shapes were fit enough for the piercing and then she offered other options.I paid $60 for my piercing. She made sure to show me and tell me that the needle she was going to use was brand new and not expired. I was pretty nervous but she was very patient with me. The place is clean and the staff is nice, friendly, and helpful.When she was discussing the aftercare, I feel like she was being a bit too general. Also, she told me to clean my piercing with antibacterial soap and a qtip 3 times a day..I was surprised she didn't recommend sea salt soaks. After a few weeks of my piercing being sore, I ended up switching to sea salt and now it's healing much better.Overall it was a pretty good experience. Just something else I'd like to mention...if you're driving there and want to park, the parking lot is in the back. Beware of the bump and steep hill on the way down, it's a bit scary haha. Customer service does not consist of miserable women standing around the shop doing nothing but having c0cky attitudes. My friend got her belly pierced here and everytime we asked a question they made unnecessary remarks. As a shop that provide such services one would have the expectation of getting all the information needed before coming to a decision. They were not informative at all and seemed like their job just consist of putting dots on people. They convinced my service to go else where...and what's up with that $20 piercing sign. Seems like a fake customer lure process. I mean this may be a good shop for tattoos but for piercings ehhhhh..no.
