i have about 45 tattoos. I have gotten the last 30 at Shelton tattoo. This place is clean, the artists are friendly and the prices are reasonable. Mike G does most of my work. he is fantastic. very knowledgeable and is experienced in many traditions. crazy dave has done a few for me as well and I was very happy with his work. weather you are a first timer or and old dog like me, I highly recommend this studio. . So I was on a family vacation and I wanted to get  a tattoo while I was out there. I read great reviews about this place so I decided to go. When I got there the place was dusty and under construction, should have been my first clue. My tattoo was so overworked that  chunks of pieces of the tattoo where coming off it got infected even needed antibiotics, this is not something you want to deal with on vacation. I thought maybe I was allergic to the ink so I did not hold the artist responsible, now that I came home and got it fixed using the same brand and same colors with no issues I now know it was not an allergic reaction, the guy was super cool and sweet, did not like the fact that during my tattoo the artist took a cig break, not professional at all, I am so glad my guy back home is so good he was able to fix it, getting a tattoo fixed up is painful enough but with chunks of skin missing causing so much scar tissue was extremely painful, wish you could get money back on tattoos cause I would really like mine back, horrible experience Read Less

I have a few tattoos (a half sleeve, full chest piece, my leg and a piece on my back) so  i feel like i have a pretty good grasp on this.Tattoo artists should be two things1) Very busy2) should have tattoos on them (love your passion)Why i say busy is because if they werent good they wouldnt be busy.Ive gotten tattoos by both Mike G and Dave. They are both great artists and great pricing. They go above and beyond what i've asked for from them..Ive also been around the shop a lot and have seen tattoos by Chris and Carolyn and they are also both amazing. I have been going to Carolyn now for around about 10 or so years.  I have had nothing but stellar service and also flawless tattoo's.  I would recommend her to anyone.  My wife has also had all of her tattoo's done by her and will not go to any other person.  Not only is it a pleasure to get tattooed by Carolyn it is also an honor to have such stellar artwork displayed on my body. Wow, no surprise that the one review this place got had only one star out of 5. I agree TOTALLY that Carolyn should not be allowed to tattoo people. I went to her because I know her boyfriend. I am now going to have to spend hundreds to have a tattoo lasered off of my leg. I'm wearing long jeans in 95 degree weather to hide it. I could just cry. I had to hear from her boyfriend that she has "demons" and I should be nicer to her. HELLO? She's a damn business owner! I paid hundreds for this and now have to pay hundreds more to have it fixed! DO NOT GO TO THIS SHOP. You are better off paying the money to go to a shop in New Haven.  Tattoo Zee Rocks. Carolyn seems cool but her work is so awful. I give her one star for a tat she did of a feather on my wrist, but I think I'd have had better work done here in Brooklyn, where I live. EEEK, METHINKS SO, Carolyn! Again, do not go to this shop. Carolyn is NOT an artist. She cannot do anything freehand. A true artist can create a design freehand, ask if you like it, correct mistakes before they do the main layout on your body. Read Less

Okay. Honestly, I've heard amazing things about Chriss & I wish that I had gone to him when I got my first tattoo here but I made the mistake of going to Carolyn. This woman should NOT be allowed to tattoo people - her work is TERRIBLE. I absolutely hate my tattoo that she did & I'm looking to get it fixed as soon as I can - all I asked for was a small cross on my wrist, sounds simple enough right? It's uneven, it's crooked... it's just UGLY. She did a horrible, horrible job and I hope that no one who goes there decides to give her their money! Read Less
