Jake is the only artist I will use. He has done all but one of my tattoos, and I have over 40hrs in the chair. I appreciate his vision with a piece I might come to him with. His Original Artwork is breathtaking. I have almost completed a Japanese leg Sleeve, and a geometric arm Sleeve. There is t anything he can't do, and the best part is...his work ages Beautifully. Jake is an incredibly talented artist. At 52 years old, this was my first tattoo and I was pretty nervous to let someone freehand design on me. He made me feel comfortable and just instinctively created a pattern that I couldn't be happier with. Jake has done several of my many tattoos and is by far my favorite tattoo artist of any that I have been to. I'm currently four sessions into a full sleeve that jake helped me design and I couldn't be happier. Today was my first session at his new shop and was probably the best tattooing experience I've had. The space is large, well lit, and inviting. The old-school barber chair is comfortable and the large windows give you something to look at after you finish looking at jake's custom flash work on the walls. I am happy with all of the tattoos that jake has done for me, his line work is excellent. I also appreciate that Jake isn't afraid to tell you if he isn't comfortable doing something or giving his opinion on how something will look. Too many artists out there just want your money and don't seem to care what the finished product looks like, Jake is not one of those artists. I highly recommend heading over to Veritas whether its your first tattoo or you have a bunch, Jake will make you feel comfortable and will do a great job on something thats going to be on you forever. I always ask people where they get their tattoos done, whether I like them or not. This helps in two ways -- I narrow down the list of trustworthy/talented artists and add to the list of where NOT to go. A friend of mine has gotten some beautiful work done in the year and a half that I've known him and he kept telling me about this amazing artist, Jake Punzalan with Shamrock Tattoo. Since I finally had the perfect combination of a day off and some extra cash lying around, I decided to go for it. With the hourly rate in my head, I printed out some of the smaller tattoos I had in mind (hey, if I'm going to pay an hourly rate, I may as well get the full hour's worth!) and headed over to Shamrock Tattoo... only to find out that Jake is no longer there. They deserve a 5-star review just for giving me Jake's card and directing me in his way, however.After that small pit stop, I called up Jake and found he was available at that very moment, so I drove down to Real Art Ways and found his studio. Explaining how I had been referred, Jake had a huge smile on his face and knew exactly who had sent me. He looked at what I wanted, told me what we could get done in an hour, and started setting up.His studio is very cool -- looks like the original wood floors, big open white space, sparsely furnished and decorated. I asked him about the art on the walls; which were his original drawings and which were standard flash from wherever. He answered all of my questions (I was nervous and asked a lot of questions) and made me very comfortable. I settled into his vintage barber's chair and he got to work. He made sure that I was breathing, comfortable, hydrated, and distracted, all of which are extremely important when someone is repeatedly jabbing a needle into your skin. He definitely has a light touch and finished two of the three tattoos really before I had even started to register pain. As someone who is terrified of needles but loves tattoos, Jake is exactly what I need. While he didn't mind using the exact designs I had brought in with me, hearing him talk about the work he designs made me want to get something unique next time.
