I've known Willie for years and hadnt been in for 5 years to work on my sleeve. He's just as amazing as the day I met him. If not better. He free handed the flowers I wanted to add and got to work. I had got a tattoo at Another shop and unfortunately I was allergic to the green ink and some spots faded very badly. I went back to get it fixed because they said they would do it for free if it needed a touch up. After my first year of college I went back and they asked 50$ for the touch up and I was pissed.I went to Ananda and AL did an amazing job on my 2nd tattoo that it a tribal tattoo and asked about my first tattoo and he filled in the spots that had faded out free of charge. Willie also did my fathers first tattoo and did it very well. I am getting my third tattoo tomorrow and this is the only place I will go to get my tattoos, because I have been treated with so much respect and the prices definitely fair! Read Less

I started going to Willie because a friend had some of his work and I really liked it. The first piece he did was an addition to an older one, and it was super cliché, but I'd promised my sister before she died. I asked for something that would fit with what I had, and Willie did 3 designs on the spot, and had no issue making the minor changes I asked for. I was in a pretty crappy emotional state and I'm sure I wasn't very good at describing what I wanted, but he was able to draw something that fit so perfectly no one ever believes it's two separate pieces.I've since gone back for two more pieces, one small and one that took a few sessions. Both are exactly what I wanted, and the process was very collaborative. I've always felt like he listened to the things that were really important to me and made those ideas into really beautiful art. I'm planning to go back for a half sleeve soon, which will be the first purely decorative tattoo I have. I'm really excited to see what he can do with more artistic leeway. Read Less

Such an awesome experience, start to finish. I knew no one at this studio prior, nor did I know anyone who had gotten work done there. I just did some internet research and came across the very impressive portfolio of Willie (the owner). I reached out to him, and he was super friendly, responsive, flexible and above all very talented. He brought my tattoo concept to life, and I could not be more thrilled with the result. Pricing is very reasonable, especially considering the level of talent at this studio. Be patient when reaching out to them- takes a couple days to respond, but just hang in there, it's worth the wait. I love the tattoo I got from Willie! I had certain things I was specific about, and certain things that I had no idea what I wanted and gave him artistic license to make it awesome. The finished product is awesome, I constantly get compliments on the line work, sometimes from strangers (who probably don't get it and think I am oddly intense). The timeline was drawn out, but that was more a factor of Willie and I having pretty opposing schedules. I was happy to have the time to contemplate the permanent fixture on my body! Is this a place to head down to if you want a drunken tattoo NOW? No, not at all. But if you are looking for something that is going to be right for you and look good, this is the place to go! I truthfully can't speak to price, I didn't care when it came to making sure we got it RIGHT, but it seemed VERY fair. I look forward to getting more ink at Ananda and working with Willie! Read Less

HORRIBLE. Willie is completely unresponsive, judgmental, and beyond rude. It took him almost a year from my initial visit to even get me a drawing, on what he claims was a simple design (he later informed me he lost my initial information. But I still had zero communication from him throughout the process.) I went months with no communication from him. I was ready to have this done the day I came in, and it took him so long that I actually had to ask to have the work put on hold, as I had something else come up that I had to deal with from a financial perspective. When I finally got something from him, it looked like a child had drawn it, and not in a whimsical, fun way. Seriously. For someone who claims to be an artist... I don't get it. I could have done better myself, and I'm not an artist. I (politely) asked for some changes, and he was obviously offended, so he then decided to get defensive, and be horribly rude and insulting instead. Our relationship was perfectly fine until this point. He clearly doesn't take feedback well. Since this point, he has continually insulted my knowledge of the tattoo industry ("You have obviously never had any tattoo work done." Despite that I have several, actually.), and has insulted my design ideas, repeatedly calling them "generic". Here's an idea, guy -- I came with IDEAS. Part of the idea is that you, as the artist, will take them and come up with something creative and original. A true artist would be able to do that. And, you have no right to insult my ideas -- you don't know the meaning behind why I chose what I did, and it is not your place to judge. EVER. Willie has continued to be condescending and pretentious (acting as though he's "too good" for such a "generic design"), and I refuse to give someone like that my business. I mean, seriously... Class act of a guy. Avoid him, unless you enjoy being ignored, having your time wasted, and then being insulted and berated in the process when he decides not to follow through. I went here initially based on the positive Yelp reviews, but I really don't understand where they're coming from. Are they all just from family and/or friends? I suspect his business is too small to have much of a variety of reviews... because if he treats everyone the way he treated me, I have no idea how he still has a business. If you're not family or a friend, don't bother, because you will definitely not be treated right. I have NEVER in my life been treated so terribly by an artist (or other human being for that matter). UPDATE:Since letting Willie know I no longer wanted to work with him, I have since called the artist in Minnesota that I have worked with several times in the past, prior to moving to Colorado. In less than a month, he has sent me three BEAUTIFUL designs (not "generic" at all), and has scheduled me for when I'm in town in July (despite that he's normally booked up for months). THAT is customer service, my friends. And I share this to further illustrate my point -- Willie's behavior is really not okay.UPDATE 2016: After almost a year, I received a Google alert a week ago (April) that Willie had commented on my review from last year (June). He wanted to inform me that some of his clients recently had a good laugh at my review, and that his work speaks for itself. As well as to further patronize me. After almost a year? Let it go, dude. I did not have a good experience, and continue to be harassed by him because I obviously insulted him, but I stand by my review. Learn from your mistakes and move on, buddy. Love Willie! He's  patient, laid back, and always makes me comfortable. He's done my 1st, 2nd and 3rd tattoos; we're  planning a 4th and I am a client and fan for life. My first tattoo was not well done at all and in a very bad spot (snowflake inside part of my ankle very low)... Not only Willie fix it he explained to me that the part of the skin does not hold ink, so to make it better he add more snowflakes around my foot my takes the attention of the bad one.. He also retouch it after a year with no cost! Willie and Jesse are amazing!! I have recommended at least 8 of my friends to this place, and they've all been thrilled with the work they end up with.  The guys are friendly, accommodating, and such talented artists.  Sometimes it takes a little time for them to get back to you, but remember - they're running a business and juggling a lot of appointments at once.  They don't have an office assistant, so they have to do it all themselves - from tattooing to answering the phones.  Be patient, and give 'em a break. Just reach out to them again - they will help you out.  It's worth it for the quality you're getting!  They are diligent about safety here too, and I've never worried about the quality of their work or service.  The shop is always clean and tidy! I HIGHLY recommend this tattoo shop.  I would not refer my closest friends there if I didn't think they were anything short of amazing.  Keep up the great work, guys! PS - if you're reading these reviews and see one that says they went to Celebrity Tattoo - DO NOT take their advice seriously.  Celebrity is the McDonalds of tattoo shops - they pop up everywhere, and you'll get a cheap crappy product.  They have more man-power for responses, but is that really how you would judge a quality tattoo shop?  Yikes.  You may get lucky with a good artist making their way there, but I would not recommend them. I went to Ananda based on a recommendation from a good friend of mine who had BEAUTIFUL tattoos done by Willie, the owner of the shop. I called ahead to schedule a consultation and spoke with Willie directly on the phone.. which was nice, because at some shops you can't get ahold of an artist. He was extremely helpful and set up a time for me to come in the following night. Four weeks later I had my first session with him where he did an absolutely incredible job, exceeded my expectations as an artist and overall awesome human being! These guys are super talented and best of all, are flexible and do their best to fit you in when it works well with your schedule. Overall, incredible experience! I love these guys. They used to be my work neighbors and I miss them so much! I've not had a tattoo by Willie, but I've seen his work and knowing him as a friend, he is great. All of the artists here are great, and such a friendly, cool vibe in their shop (I still need to get over and see the new spot!) So anyway, I am now the proud owner of a tattoo done for me by Jesse Montgomery, who is a senior artist there, and I could not be happier. His price was affordable, my artwork is incredible, and he is just easy to get along with and work with. He took my words of description and turned it into something that so perfectly embodied what I asked for. It was larger, so we did it in two sessions and both times it was so much fun to get tattooed there, and Jesse definitely was sensitive to any needs I had during the process. I was thinking about getting tattooed since I was in high school, but I didn't want to rush into it. In the past I went in to a few shops and did research online. No place I found really felt right. Some places had great artists, but didn't seem like they cared about my little first time tattoo, some of the shops were very scary, dirty, and druggy looking. I hadn't thought about it for a while, until I was getting my hair done. My stylist (kimi martinson) had some great tattoos and she told me she had gotten them by Willie Stewart at Ananda Tattoo in the highlands / north Denver area. I go to regis, so it was close to home. When I first stopped by I was shocked by the level of comfort I felt. Willie was tattooing and the other guy, Jesse was painting. They both dropped what they were doing to say hello and ask if I needed help. We set up a consultation for a few days later, Willie sat down with me and drew up my tattoo for me. Some of the other shops I had talked to had sort of a ""my way or the highway"" mentality, they though what I wanted was stupid, and tried to talk me into something else. Willie explained to me that some things needed to be changed to make it work for tattooing. We ended up having to make some of the flowers and lettering a little bit bigger, but I love my tattoo! The experience of getting it done was great. The shop smelled very clean, and all the needles and tube things came out of brand new packages in front of me. I was worried that it would be hard to take care of, but they gave me simple directions. My tattoo never scabbed like I have seen on my friends. It just peeled like a sunburn and was healed in like 1 week! the color was super bright. he told me that touch-ups are free, but I never needed one. This was a great experience, I will send all my friends to Ananda Art and Tattoo, and I can't wait to get another one myself (as soon as I can afford it). thanks guys!!!! Read Less
