I’ve had work done at both shops with three different artists, all of which were very very good experiences and great work. Great customer service, Always super friendly. Most recently I had work done by Shirley, she’s got a personality that you can’t help but like her right away. The work she did was top knoch. I've gotten 3 of my 4 tattoos at Preying Mantis. The first from Galen when he was at the Wadsworth location, one from Brian when he was at the Wadsworth location and one from Sherley at the Kipling location. All three are now at the Kipling location. I love Preying Mantis. I wish I had gotten all 4 of my tattoos there but I won't go anywhere else in Denver anymore. Everyone there makes it a comfortable environment and it's super laid back. All of the artists there are amazing. I highly recommend Preying Mantis for your tattooing needs!Read Less

I have been getting tattooed by Dave Allen for nearly years now and follow him to any shop he goes. He's been at Preying Mantis for a good while now and I have to say it's my favorite place he's been. Always clean and everyone tattooing there is nice and love checking out everyone else's work. I was in need of a portrait artist to do my David Bowie tattoo and after visiting a few shops and meeting with a few artists, I found Preying Mantis. Dave Allen is one of the most talented artists and friendliest dudes I've ever met. I love my tattoo and I get complimented for it all the time. The only complaint I've ever gotten was "Ma'am, your tattoo is too realistic. It looks like it's looking into my soul and I'm afraid of what it might find." (That's a good thing) I did have to go on a waiting list but it was worth the wait due to of the significance of the piece.The staff is very professional and have a lot of knowledge about craft. They also understand that their work will be on your body forever and for this reason they recommend meeting with the artist in person and making an appointment beforehand. Read Less

I have always been hesitant about getting a tattoo and never truly pursued it because of this. It's art on your body! I didn't want to just go to any old place and have something crazy on my body that didn't look good for the rest of my life. I was speaking to someone about what I wanted to get one day and she happened to have exactly what I was looking at getting-mandalas. And to top it off, her pieces were good. I mean, really good art! I asked her where she got it and it was preying mantis tattoo, by Brandon. She gave me his card and I was on my way.Brandon is an amazing artist. He drew up a mandala for me after a small deposit and I can say I'm beyond ecstatic I came to him. The mandala I have now on my center back is absolutely gorgeous!! This was my first tattoo, and I was thinking it was going to hurt, and I was completely comfortable the whole time. He was gentle (not heavy handed) and was extremely knowledgable about what he was doing. You can tell he is passionate about his work! The shading looks absolutely stunning, the outline flawless, and the customer debating what to get for round two!! Even my husband continues to tell me how great my piece looks, and that makes me happy I came here and got my work done. Their prices are even great. It’s always tough trying to find a quality tattooist, so one looks to their friends, or the internet, to find the best tattoo shop; I’m no exception. When I moved back to Colorado, I asked my friends and family to see which shop they recommended. On three different occasions Preying Mantis was brought up. Now I want to preface this by writing, I don’t just take anyone’s word for it when it comes to tattoos. I look at the work that has been done and make my assessment from there. When I saw the great work that had been done on my cousin’s body, I was highly impressed.When I called to schedule my appointment, I was greeted with professionalism and friendliness. Further, when I entered the shop, I received the same courtesy. I like to feel like I’m welcomed when I’m ‘shopping’ around and the staff at Preying Mantis didn’t disappoint. My appointment was with Galen S. and I spoke with him about the tattoo that I wanted and the location, etc. Since then, we have spent more than 40 hours on my sleeve and I couldn’t be happier with my choice. Throughout those 40 hours, I’ve come to know all of the staff—viewed their work and professionalism—and I have absolutely no reserves about recommending any of the tattooist to my friends, family and strangers. I had a way better experience here at this shop than others and I certainly have recommended him and this shop in general to many a folk.
