Walked in. Some guy was playing a video game behind the counter and would not acknowledge me. Was quoted twice as much as other places for a tattoo and was told it would take several visits to complete. Was done in 3 hours elsewhere. Seems like they overcharge. I find a lot of these reviews extremely harsh. I have had to cancel, reschedule, cut appointments short due to my various health problems. So if Justan needs to do that i think everyone should be more understanding. I have worked with Justan for a while now and purchased a 2 year package. If i have to wait for him to take a little longer to draw up a awesome tattoo for me, whatever. My tattoos are amazing. I perfer only Justan to do my tattoos because i like his style and he's just a cool person to work with. I think communicating in person is better than just hiding behind a bad review. Absolute worst experience ever. Also, Justan enjoys threatening people who are unsatisfied with his sketchy services. Not only a bad buisness, but an overall mean person. Be careful and read the reviews! My boyfriend bought me a "deal" for lifetime tattoos for 1500$ from Justan, the owner of the shop, for my birthday. I asked Justan why he was doing a deal for so cheap because I was wary about such a deal. He said he didn't do deals very often, but was going through personal issues and really needed the money. I told him I understood and liked his artwork and paid him 1500$ cash. At the time we signed the contract for my "deal" I told him that my dad was sick and that I would be in Idaho part time. He told me he would work with me on days off and work to schedule me in with less notice because of his situation and my situation. I started trying to set up appointments and Justan would say that he couldn't get me in, not only on regular days, but on the Monday's that he had promised he would find time for me on. I noticed that he was getting a little aggressive so I was really understanding because I wanted to keep a good relationship with the man that was supposed to give me tattoos for life. Finally I got him to set up a consultation for me. I drove to his shop walked in, he glanced at some pictures and his other appointment that he scheduled for the same time as mine showed up and he never finished my consult. I still tried to be reasonable because I was scared of how I saw him react on Facebook to people who complained about his services. I started to ask him if maybe he could just show me some progress on the tattoo drawing since we couldn't get an appointment set up. At first he said yes a few times, then he said he would lose it, then he said he wouldn't start a drawing without an appointment. At this point I felt he had no intention of doing any of the work he promised. I finally decided I would ask him for my money back since no work had been done and his word had changed on how I needed to make appointments. I was polite and as unconfrontational as possible. He responded with anger and threatening comments. I stopped talking to him because of how aggressive he was. I hired an attorney to try to mediate the situation. He sent him a polite letter asking Justan to work with me after reading all of the messages between us. Justan responded by threatening to sue me for harassment and slander. I still did not respond. My attorney contacted me shortly after and said that Justan called him worried that I was going to sue him, which was never my intention, and offered to do a tattoo painting to at least give me something for my 1500$. I agreed because I was happy to have some sort of conclusion to the situation. When I messaged Justan to tell him what I would like the painting to be (as instructed by my attorney) Justan never responded. After 3 days of waiting I messaged Justan to tell him I was writing off my 1500$ and I felt that all I could do was leave an honest review to try to make sure this doesn't happen to anyone else. He responded by saying since I said I was going to write a review he would no longer do a painting for me and would have a lawyer contact me. So, all I have to say about this shop is BEWARE! Justan offers deals all of the time, and in my situation and others I read on Yelp and Google, you pay the money and the work never gets done. Terrible customer service. I asked about "flat rate" tattooing and was told it varied on tattoo... ugh yea just like every shop?.. check out the definition of a flat rate, I don't care if you're a tattoo shop, doesn't mean you can magically change the definition of a phrase to fit your own agenda. When I called them out on this they blocked me via social media and told me they wouldn't tattoo someone like me anyways... That's totally how you handle a potential client situation.. by the way it was from the guy offering the cartoon tattoos. I don't know what people are talking about below!!!! I love this shop. These guys are bad ass! I originally was planning in seeing one artist, but felt another artist there was more my style. When I asked if he didn't mind if I went to the other guy, they were totally cool about it! All of the artists are extremity talented, and worth every penny. Here's an honest review of my personal experience. I had an appointment scheduled for 4 hours to get 2 tattoos done with my girlfriend, when we arrived, admittedly a few minutes late, we were informed there wasn't enough time to do both, which is understandable, but could have been easily avoided had we been warned beforehand. We sat and waited for at least an hour until we finally got a first draft design, which was not what we had asked for, and we both felt Justan was kind of pushy towards his design. I understand that he has been doing this for a while and I'm sure he knows what he's doing, which is what makes this so disappointing. The tattoo ended up askew, uneven, scarred, and just generally looks poorly done. In addition, I was informed that my last review was considered "fake," showing me that this artist has somewhat of a tough time taking criticism. While this isn't the worst experience I've had in a business, it's far from the best. He does good work if he cares about the design, but maybe not so much otherwise. I would reccommend against a down payment until you're shown a design of some sort. Read Less

My boyfriend and I have each gotten two flash tattoos during holiday specials here over the last month (mine from Allen and James, his from James and Drew) and I have an appointment with Justan next week. These guys are clean, professional and quick artists with a really cool shop and solid talent. Definitely try to catch them for their flash tattoo sales, you can't beat spending $25-40 on some quick ink. I also haven't had to wait on either occasion, they only do walk ins for their flash tats. I went there last night and it was honestly the best experience I've ever had in a tattoo shop! Justan was so welcoming and definitely did not make me feel like an outsider or uncomfortable! Spent $250 total for a half sleeve and I love it, the artist did an amazing job and made sure I liked what he was doing. I was there for 4 hours total. They have great prices and good artists, I recommend them to anyone looking for a new tattoo for a good price. I got my tattoo from Allen and he does some really good work! Awful place to get piercings. I got a double cartilage/helix piercing(a few weeks apart) and even after consistent cleaning both got infected, they were pierced at different angles, pierced with different sized gauges(even after I asked if they were the same size before the second piercing and was told they were), and both bled uncontrollably after they were pierced. Eventually had to remove both piercings because the infection was only getting worse. Terrible experience, waste of money, waste of time. Would not recommend to anyone. Read Less

If I could give zero stars I would! Two friends and I came in to get piercings. Jaz was the chick piercing on this particular day. My first friend got her septum pierced. Jaz clamped her nose and couldn't get the needle all the way through. She had to get one the guys tattooing to redo it. Next friend got her nose done. Jaz was visibly shaking at this point, but was able to do it with some struggle. Then it was my turn to get my nose done.  She was still shaking but got the needle in easily. When she tried to transfer to get the jewelry in, she couldn't get it in. My nose was bleeding pretty good at this point. As I was trying to hold pressure to stop the bleeding, she jabbed the needle back in with no clamp. She tried to get the jewelry in again but still could not. I was done at this point. So, if you want a piercing, DO NOT GO TO JAZ!!!! The guy who finished my first friend looked competent, but JAZ obviously has no idea what she is doing. The tattoo work that was being done looked decent, but I'd steer clear of getting anything pierced!Response from business:Jaz C: Business ManagerHey katelyn,you were getting pierced by an apprentice and that's why the piercings were half the price,sometimes you lose transfers,it happens. I'm not perfect and im still learning,hence the half price. Most shops will charge you just for opening their needles and even if they miss which is more common than you think. I apologized and felt awful and you could have sat right and let me redo it,I have had 15 year olds sit for missed transfers.Katelyn B: My response to you seems pointless but I feel the need to at least comment. No one is perfect. No one can get it right all the time. Unfortunately for you it was back to back mistakes. When we walked into your shop you told us that the piercings were a "Sunday special" you did not tell anyone in my party that you were an apprentice. In the future especially while you are still learning you should announce that you are still training. You did poor work.Per the business' response we were not in the shop for a "painless" piercing we have hours of tattoo work done. I have gotten some ink last night and it was the best experience that i have had a tattoo shop. Patrick was the Artist for my session. He has a Light Touch unlike most of my ink that I have gotten in the past, which were pretty heavy handed. Not that im a bleeder, but they have made me bleed. Extremely sanitary, very CLEAN. Patrick took his time and threw in his own twist in on my tat, he Blended it into my existing ink that i had. This is My new parlour and Artist that i am going to get my ink done. I have gone to Justan for 3 tattoos in the last year and a half and am beyond satisfied with all of them.  The parlor is very chill and CLEAN! Justan takes the extra time and effort into making sure his station and equipment are extremely sanitary.  He puts even more care into his work.  Great attention to detail and genuine pride in his work.  Would recommend to anyone and everyone. Black voodoo tattoo is a job! They shouldn't even get 1 star my opinion. Justin is the worst artist I've ever come over. He canceled on me more times than he tattooed me. He has all these deal, well you wonder why it's because he's a shitty tattoo artist. He tattooed me for almost a year and didn't even finish because I had to go to someone else to fix the work he did. It looked like the tattoo he did was done 10 years ago, so faded and just drilled into my skin way to hard to just move faster. He makes up excuses so he doesn't have to tattoo the days he doesn't want to. He uses his diabetes as an excuse all the time, I think he's not right it honestly because he acts all hung over when he comes. He's stood me up for an appointment, and told me I had the date wrong when I know I didn't. Then he told me he couldn't come to Tattoo me because somebody had his car which was a lie. His artists and his tattoo shop told me. He could never get me in two weeks after my tattoo, it always had to be a month after I got tattooed by him. He took my money and didn't finish the job. I give you all this knowledge of mine, to tell you to never go to Justin at black voodoo tattoo! Really even if he has some amazing deal it's not worth it ever!!!!!! Read Less

I've been living in Denver for a little over a year (I'm from Los Angeles originally)  happened to stumble on this place one day when I got a wild hair up my arse to get another tattoo.      That  being said, I'm pretty picky when it comes to my appearance (ok I can be downright obsessive) But thank God Justan is such a talented artist! Mind you the tattoo is a small one but I almost feel like a d**che for paying so little ( but I compensated with giving my artist a much deserved tip!!)Thanks Justan! Also this place is hella cool, everyone there is super nice and I felt really comfortable. My story is long but you really need to hear it before deciding to go here.I found Black Voodoo on Groupon and after looking and yelp and the artist's (Justan) portfolio I thought I would go for it.Bad decision. I do not know how this business has such good ratings. Justan cancelled our first appointment...no, not cancelled; didn't show up to the shop that day. I waited and called and emailed and finally got a response that his dog was sick. I'm a nice person, hope the dog feels better. No problem. When I finally go in for the work I am greeted with pot on the desk. OK, this is Denver, I just hope he's not stoned while he works on me. He seemed nice, talented, a little full of himself. I figured he was just proud and confident. I told him to use grey and purple and NOT black, but he just decided to use black anyway. I told him I couldn't do more than an hour and he insisted he was light handed and that I would be able to go longer....um, no I can't.Looked decent when he was done so when he offered me a deal of a $500 gift card for only $200 cash (but that day only) I said sure! I figured he's just trying to get his name out there.This is where is goes really, really downhill.When my tattoo finally started healing I realized I was scared in multiple places, the work wasn't awful, but I have high standards for this sort of thing and decided I no longer wanted him to work on me. He said I couldn't get my money back for the gift card. He said I couldn't sell the gift card to anyone because it had my name on it, and when I told him the work was healing badly he told me he didn't want to work on me anymore because I was rude. He then STALKED my facebook and reddit account, and starts HARASSING me saying I was using slander against him (for venting to my friends on a very private fb page and in a redditt post where I didn't even mention his name or the shop) Then he seriously THREATENED to sue me for slander...I wish I was making this up. Don't worry I saved all the emails. I seriously had to get a lawyer.He has done this to multiple people. He just basically stole from me because he has $200 of mine and I get nothing in return. I'm sure I'll be emailed about this review very soon.If you want a mediocre tattoo, but a terrible business and rude person then this is the place for you. Read Less

Justan just did a great job on some forearm script I got done. Going to a new artist can be a bit tricky but I was happy with his work and love my new tat.
