I'm kind of a nerdy researcher (even with tattoos) so it took me months to finally land on an artist and shop that I felt like was a good fit for the art I wanted on my arm. There were several factors that went into my decision-making process and I could go on and on about what I looked for and how I happened upon Mile High Ink but here is what you're probably most interested in: (1) Cleanliness: 5/5 - Mile High Ink was extremely clean, professional, and obviously concerned about exceeding health standards. We had a group of three people that got tattoos and Ben took the time to properly set up, break down, clean, and sanitize the entire space before we started, between sit-downs, and after we were done. I was highly impressed and didn't feel dirty or unsafe for even a second. (2) Professionalism: 5/5 - I reached out to Ben via Facebook Message several days before our arrival in Denver from Dallas to give him an idea of what we were looking for and to see if he had any availability. He wrote back within hours and was very kind, professional, and accommodating. He moved some things around in his schedule to clear several hours for us to come to the shop for our art and never made me feel like an inconvenience for messaging instead of calling or coming in. Once we got there, he immediately made us all feel comfortable, gave us some snacks, turned on some music from the band we had travelled to see at Red Rocks, and just made us feel welcome, comfortable, and at home. I never felt weird, out of my element, or judged in his shop. (3) Artwork: 5/5 - I came to Ben with a vague idea of what I was looking for and sent him 3-4 samples that I wanted to somehow meld together and integrate into a tattoo as well as a song with lyrics that specifically related to what I was looking for. Within hours he messaged me back with a "rough draft" of what he had in mind and it blew me away - it was exactly what I had in mind and was as if he reached into my brain and pulled out the details and artistry that I couldn't quite put into words. We didn't even have to edit it - we went entirely with his sketch and it was perfect. The number of compliments I have had on it is unreal. (4) Price: 5/5 - I hesitate to even rate on price because it is so subjective. You get what you pay for and if you're shopping for a tattoo based on price you may want to reconsider whether you're looking for a piece of art or a good deal and what your "good deal" may end up looking like in 20 years. That said, my husband and I both sat for an hour each (tattoos are priced based on an hourly rate) and I expected to pay significantly more than what we did based on the level of professionalism and how awesome the art was. I would have happily paid it, too. Bottom line: 5/5 - I would highly, highly recommend Ben and Mile High Ink if you have high standards and are looking for a quality piece of art. Really great experience. Ben the owner is extremely laid back, friendly, and made the entire experience better. I was a little bit nervous to get my rook pierced and I told him so all of a sudden he opened the back door in the piercing room, whistled, and his three boxers came to the door to calm me down (they weren't allowed in because the place is very sterile) which was amazing. I got a double forward helix piercing here and it was the best experience I've ever had with a piercing. Ben took the time to educate me about the procedure, healing time and aftercare. He sent me home with an extra and some Epsom salts and made sure I knew what to do despite me already having many other piercings. When we were done, he brought me candy and water. Very patient, very clean, and very gentle. He even answered questions I had about the "how to" of various other piercings. I just moved to the area so all of that is a huge plus in my book. I went in to get a tattoo on my wrist fixed up, and Jason told me he would add more detail. He also told me after I was done that the white in my tattoo would show up more in the next few days. It's been over a month and, no white, and my tattoo looks exactly the same. I'm very disappointed because I paid him 60$ plus tip, and did not get my money's worth. A few of us came in for a couple piercings, and Ben, the owner, did the piercings himself. He was calm and helpful and made the experience not only comfortable, but enjoyable for all of us. The pricing was very decent and the room was clean and sanitized after each piercing. I'm from out of town, and if I ever found myself in the area again I would definitely come here for a tattoo or piercing! P.S. he has two very friendly boxer dogs that he let in the shop! First of all, I'm writing this on behalf of a friend who doesn't have a Yelp account. I haven't been here, but I have gotten and seen enough piercings in my life to know when someone does a bad job. Two of my friends went in here because one of them wanted a double helix piercing. Cool. It's not that hard to poke a couple holes next to each other, right? Wrong. They weren't even close to lined up. I saw the pictures of my friend's ear and, not having brushed up on my ear piercings, had to Google what a double helix is supposed to look like. Because I honestly couldn't even tell what the piercer had been trying to do. I added a couple pictures, so you can be the judge. Apparently the piercer's name is George and he has beefy hands. I don't know him, maybe he does good work 9/10 times, but is it a risk you want to take? Also he told her that she had to have studs in the new piercings, not hoops. I'm not sure why. I've never heard of that, and I've found hoops to be easier to take care of during the healing process.Update: They went back and the owner was nice enough to refund their money, but wouldn't admit that a mistake had been made. I'm giving them an extra star for being nice, but that doesn't make up for the job being done poorly in the first place. Read Less

My friend got her nose pierced and I watched and I'm writing this on her behalf. The process was quick nice and professional. Ben was super friendly about the whole procedure and answered all the questions and gave  her everything to be prepared for aftercare. He also gave contact info for if there was an issue. So a girlfriend and I decided to go get our daiths pierced by George. From the moment we walked in everyone was so nice. Then back with George my friend decided to throw a tattoo in the mix and without missing a beat George started drawing it up. George is just such a nice fella. This was the place I got my first and now my second tattoo. The staff are friendly and helpful. When discussing my second tattoo they asked respectfully if I was "open to different styles," by doing so I felt there confidence and admiration they have towards their jobs. George Munoz did my second tattoo, he asked me what my style of music was and played that genre. He then proceeded to prepare everything with a serious yet enjoyable manner, while enjoying the tunes. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE. Caleb did my tattoo and it was a bad experience from the start. Heavey handed and also fucked up a SIMPLE SMALL BOW. My tattoo is now infected and I'm sick because of this. If I didnt have other tattoos and know how to care for them id be screwed. Ben is a sweet and attentive wizard who will definitely make sure you are happy with what is going on your body. He doesn't have that "bad attitude" that I have gotten from artists/piercers in the past because I am a small 20-something girl. It kinda sucks to write a bad review for a tattoo place because this thing is going to be on my body forever.  :(The good: Nice people, good service, and clean.The bad: I had coordinates tattooed on my shoulder, and despite following after-care instructions, my tattoo had a blow out and part of my tattoo just "didn't take" - I mean, there was a five in my coordinates and it has all but disappeared.  Several other numbers are half gone as well.  :(  I'm hoping I can go some place else and have them either fix it or do a cover-up.  Sigh. Okay, funny story.  I would not even be writing this review if I hadn't gotten my nose pierced today and then accidentally pulled it right back out washing my face two hours later with a fabric towel.  Ben literally told me "be careful of those little hooks on fabric towels; people tend to pull their new nose rings out with the little hooks on them."  What did my dumb ass do?--exactly that LOL!  So of course I called him in a panic and he answered right away (even though he was clearly already busy with someone else) and without judging me (which he rightfully could have), he very willingly offered to help me out if I could come back in right away.  I took him up on that and all's well that ends well--he got it back in safely and I love my new nose ring!Even if this had not happened I should write a review for his awesome service anyway.  For starters, he answered his phone on a Sunday night when his shop was not even open to assure me he would be happy to help me with a nose piercing.  He was totally polite and helpful throughout.  I have not gotten any tattoos from him and this was my first piercing from him, but I have worked with plenty of other shops in the past for piercings/tattoos and his customer service is top notch.  He deserves a great review and that's why I took the time to hack back into my old account and write one!  Cheers!
