I highly recommend Mammoth. After months of trying to get an appointment with various other shops for touching up an old tattoo and getting a new one, I decided to take a chance on a walk in one Saturday here at Mammoth. The old and new tattoo were both very simple and not larger than a couple inches. Hunter at the front door could not have been more friendly and inviting, especially for someone like me with very minimal tattoo experience :). He let me know that Chad would be able to fit me in later that afternoon, and I'm so glad he did! Chad was just as nice and professional. He seemed genuinely enthusiastic about my little tattoos and took extra care and time to make sure they were just right. William the owner has 25yrs in, and you can see it in his work, and how the shop is run as well.   All artists here are high caliber, and cool down to earth people.  I've had only positive experiences getting tattooed here.  Pictures on instragram can't give you any idea of personalities or experience which to me at least, is a big part of it.  These are good people, and it's clear how they treat everyone who comes in. Had a consult with DJ Chilcote, put down a $100 deposit just to talk about booking his time in the future. I finally get to a place schedule wise that I can get some work done and he says he can't give me an overall estimate. It's just take it or leave it $150 an hour for as long as he wants it to last... I say no thanks if you can't give me an estimated total or time I'm out. I'm not just going to sit there while you take your sweet time collecting that kind of money per hour. I ask for my "deposit" back and he says it's non refundable. So I'm out $100 just for giving this guy a chance. Wow and good luck with practices like that... Got a new tattoo (first in 20+ years) from DJ Chilcote a few days ago-he created the drawing of what I wanted (dogwood blossom) and did it beautifully! The most professional experience that I have ever had with a tattoo shop. William and the guys are all very personable and professional. It really helps that this place is cleaner than most of the restaurants some of us eat at. Just a very well oiled machine with insanely talented artists. Mike (shop mgr) is on point with keeping the process of arriving, getting through it and leaving smooth. The little things that you don't notice that keeps everything moving and efficient makes a big difference at the end. Mammoth is my 5th stop for tattoos and it will definitely be my last. I went in for a really small tattoo on my wrist and I appreciated that they didn't make me feel like it was bother.  It literally took 3 minutes to do mine but they made me feel as important as the three people getting hours worth of work done. They were super friendly and Jimmy kicked ass. I absolutely love my tattoo and he was sweet and talked to me during, clearly he could sense I was a bit nervous. Will be back for my next one. My experience with Mammoth American was great from the time I called to schedule an appointment, to the time I walked out with my new tattoo.The guys in the shop only do tattoos (no piercings or anything like that).  I like this because it gives the feeling that they are committed to the art of tattooing and it makes me feel more confident and secure in my decision to go with this shop.I did my research and found the shop and the artists on Instagram. I got good vibes from the shop and their website and decided to ask DJ to do my tattoo. I emailed him and gave him a rough idea of what I wanted along with examples of what I liked. He was quick to email me back and asked me many questions, clarifications and gave ideas on placement. I really appreciated his attitude and the attention he was able to give to me. My previous experiences with tattoo artists at other shops were definitely not as pleasant or helpful. When I showed up the get the tattoo, DJ greeted me pleasantly and began to set up his station in a very clean and organized manner. His professionalism made an impression on me and made me feel more comfortable with my shop decision. From the language he used to the design he presented, I was thoroughly impressed.The final product was phenomenal. The line work as well as the shading and the color usage were better than I could have imagined. I trusted him with my ideas and was not disappointed. Had a great experience with Jesse at Mammoth American. At the end of a 3 day hiking trip my brother and I decided on impulse to get a quick tat in honor of our father. Not sure if we'd have the time before our flight, these guys came highly recommended. Jesse reached out to his scheduled appointment and asked if he could push him back about 15 minutes (dude was super cool about it) and we both ended up getting our ink. A very simple image of military dog tags was brought to life by his artistry, attention to detail and obvious experience. He consulted with us individually at length (despite the last minute kind of a rush job!) and made adjustments to accommodate existing tattoos. I've been in a lot of tattoo shops and this was the first place that right when I walked in, I was introduced to everyone and immediately felt right at home. They make you feel like part of the family. The Mammoth American crew makes getting a tattoo something special. I got a couple pieces, and one in progress, done by William Thidemann and even though we've only met a couple times, I feel as though he is a good friend. That's what is great about this shop. The artists are truly amazing at what they do and strive for excellence while making sure that anyone who walks in is automatically welcome and part of their family.This place is more than a tattoo shop, it's a group of highly talented artists who constantly travel, research, and practice to build their talent. I will never go anywhere else. I always get giddy right before I walk in because I know I'm about to get something special. It makes the experience that much better when the artist gets excited over his work too.   As for my artist, William Thidemann, he has a very light hand and is quick! William is the best in the business!  It sounds funny but I like that he is willing to tell me when he thinks an idea I have is not a good one.  So far he has been working on my right arm and I get TONS of compliments.  Too bad winter is coming and ill have to put the guns away, but next year hopefully they will be back out and more colorful then ever! Don't be swayed by friends and family reviews, most all of these are to bring in business with false promises. I set out to get a memorial tattoo, something that shouldn't be discarded as a run of the mill flash piece. I gave my idea, made my appointment, and gave a deposit which was a first. Never did they say that if I needed to cancel all together that my $50 was theres for good. I had to reschedule my first appointment, but had given my artist everything he needed to for what I had hoped would be a memorial to my father that passed away early this year. In my email I also asked a few questions pertaining to length he was thinking it would be, and a general idea of cost so I was sure I had everything in place. No response was given as my appointment drew near, no call was given to verify time or as any questions on my design. In other words, he didn't care one bit since of course I wasn't anything that would further his career or his night life. I have run across this at numerous tattoo parlors around town, if your not female, you are a burden to them. When I finally cancelled and was told for the first time my money wouldn't be refunded I knew that it was shady and were just money grubbing. I recommend going anywhere else but here. But if anyone knows some place that does actually care about clients by all means tell me, because Denver is letting me down. Read Less

I completely gave up control and let him create the start of a magnificent work of art on my entire back. I am so happy I decided to go with him. Though I'd been tattooed before, I was still fairly nervous but William quickly put me at ease each session. He has a professional demeanor, valued my time and always made sure I was comfortable. His shop is very warm and welcoming, and the caliber of artists on hand is nothing short of spectacular. Absolutely fantastic studio. William is my artist and I couldn't be more pleased. I've been working with him for a couple years now on a sleeve and at this point I trust him completely. I used to bring in pictures of ideas but now we just talk about it and I let him do what he sees. This is a very cozy studio in an old house and you get tons of privacy, you're not in a little both. William and Matt, another incredible artist at the studio have their own rooms upstairs which I really appreciate. If you're looking for true custom artwork this is the premier spot in Denver. Almost hate to review it for fear of a long wait list but these guys deserve the praise! Read Less
