Not only is Kate an amazing stylist, she has an amazing energy. While having a most fragile day I came in tired and barely conversational. Having drastic ideas of what I wanted to do to my hair she sat with me, made eye contact and talked it through rather than just hastily jumping into it. Kate Vredenburg has been doing my hair for about 5 years. I follow her wherever she goes. This salon is hers, but she also sees her downtown clients on Broadway in the arts district. Just call and ask her schedule, which is usually flexible. I came to her after years of my mom (who has completely different hair from me) having great hair from Kate. Kate teaches color to other salons around town, which explains why she is AMAZING. My hair is healthier than it has ever been even with color in Kate's hands. Her cuts are even and perfect. She never pushes product on me, but when I do buy something to recreate a look at home, it works, because she teaches me to do it properly myself. Her prices are quite low considering the quality, products and talent. I post this for all others who crave a great lifetime stylist relationship, want absolutely beautiful hair (and maybe a great wax while color processes) and can't spend a fortune. I have what I always thought of as difficult hair - curly/frizzy (not always in the best way), very thick AND I had always wanted it straight and silky.  Kate has done incredible work on it for the last 4 years! Not only do I get incredible complements on the color, she has done permanent straightening (very long process and INCREDIBLY STRAIGHT), smoothing (takes less time to process, cuts down on blow dry time) and hair cuts that work with my natural waves.  I was also not very skilled or patient with blow drying and straightening.  Kate actually taught me how to work with these tools  at home myself.  The really unique thing is that not only do I currently wear my hair straight without too much work, I  even wear it curly with NO work at all (air dry).  I love this variety and flexibility and no longer always want my hair to be different than What it is.  I highly recommend her, she really listens to what you want and realistically advises what is possible.  Very talented! I have been going to Kate for a long time.  She does a great job with waxing.  Really listens to what you want and is thorough to make your face look beautiful!  She does the natural shape of my eyeyebrows like I like! She also has a gift with cut and color.  I like my hair to have color.  She does such a fantastic job of making my hair look natural and blended so I don't have to get it colored as often which, being on a budget is helpful!  I keep my hair long but she really listens to just taking off a little but gets rid of ask the dead hair so it looks fresh and feels great!  I highly recommend her! I have been going to Kate for all my hair services for about 2 1/2 years now, and I can not come up with one single complaint. She is so incredibly talented at what she does and she is the best at sitting down and talking with her clients about what they are looking for.
