My husband and I got tattoos by Roger.  From the start to the finish Roger was extremely helpful. Roger gave his professional opinion on styles and the best looking orientation but ultimately left the decision up to us.Roger keeps his shop spotless and is extremely professional and meticulous in his setup.  His shop is not cluttered and has a modern feel to it. The outside of the shopping center is old but what can you do when your property manager doesn't keep up on their end of the deal.  He presented sterilized single use needles and needle tube grips and opened them in front of us. Imagine this, we actually had a conversation while he was working on us. We have gotten work done by other artists in other studios who have popped their ear buds in after the first few minutes (I swear we are not boring people.)We will definitely be going back to get additional work done and will recommend him to our friends. I've been coming her for the past 3 years, all of the artist here are really talented and help each other to ensure you get your tattoo placed and colored to make it perfect. They are a team that works great together. My fiancé has received work from almost everyone here. I personally go to Roger who happens to also be the owner. He has worked some serious magic on my arm piece. I came to him with an incomplete mess of a tattoo and came out with a whole new tattoo. He helped fix work I had previously got and was unhappy with. Ok, so I'm looking to get my first tattoo and this was the first place that popped up. First of all it's a hole in the wall type of place, in the back and everything else around it was closed down. I go in and the guys there weren't very friendly, just a "what do you want" type of attitude. So I had an idea of what I wanted, and the answers I got back were very vague, I was talking to a guy named mojo, just replies like "ya I guess we could do that, if you want". Mojo quoted me 650-700 depending on how long it would take. I need/want a flat rate, so if it takes longer it'll be more? AND he said it wouldn't even be in one sitting, it'd take 2 separate sittings. I went over to goodfellas tattoo in orange and WOW, more official looking, MUCH more caring, the guy mark made it special and put his special touch on it and joked around and had a sense of humor, gave me a flat rate and knew exactly what I wanted. 2 stars only because the piece that was actually done looks beautiful, but doesn't belong on me.I hate to be that one person with a negative review, but, I thought I'd do it for the sake of other people who might be in the situation I was in when I was looking to get a tattoo done. I was brought here by a friend because she was best friends with a girl who's boyfriend is an artist here. When I walked in, I knew exactly what I wanted. I had wanted this tattoo for years and years and knew that I was getting it not matter what - wrong. The moment I showed them what I wanted, they said "we refuse to do it". Now, to me, I was 18 and wanted a tattoo and was in an awkward position because my friend was standing right there talking to the artist she knew and I didn't want to cause any weird tension or awkwardness. I kept telling them how bad I wanted it and they still wouldn't do it which should have been my red flag to leave and find someone who would. Their reasons not to do it were somewhat valid - it's a tattoo that would fade overtime and wouldn't look the same in a few years but then again, what tattoos look EXACTLY the same a few years later? So, they somehow talked me into getting a cross behind my ear. I said I wanted it small, it turned out huge. It's behind my ear so I can hide it, but I hate it. It's beautiful, but not for me. It's not the tattoo I wanted. I learned while getting my second that if you go to someone who won't do a tattoo you want, find someone who will. It took me 3 artists In 3 different shops to find someone to do my 2nd tattoo, but I found someone who did and I love it. I'm currently in the process of finding a laser removal center for my first tattoo done here 2 years later and it sucks. Overall, is it my fault I let them to continue and put something else behind my ear and agree to a different piece of work and didn't get up and find someone who would do the piece I wanted? Yes. I take 100% responsibility for that. But to talk someone into something completely different ( I walked in with a Disney tattoo and walked out with a cross) is not okay. They should've said "I'm sure you can find someone who will do it or will be willing to" because that's more professional than what they did do. Ya, they'd be losing 1 customer, but I would've given them a 5 star review for saving my ass. Read Less

I first got a tattoo from Roger Trawick about 17 years ago in Minneapolis/St. Paul, and it has stood the test of time.  When contemplating a full back piece (covering up 2 existing tattoos), I decided to travel across the country to have it done by Roger.  I had the pieces of a concept, and he transformed it into a comprehensive design.  It is now about 3/4 finished and I can't wait to finish it!  Not only is the design amazing, but the attention to detail in the execution is second to none. Roger has an innate personal standard of excellence and will not accept anything less than his best work. Throw in the fact that all the guys in the shop are a true pleasure to spend hours with, and I have had a brilliant experience that is documented in the form of a kickass tattoo that draws admiration from everyone who sees it.  Action Tattoo is absolutely the best of the best!! Can't say enough good things about my dude Taylor. He hit my ribs (which is always a tough spot to get tattooed.) The pain was minimal and he was quick to get it done. Jon Jackson is amazing! He took so much time talking and drawing up a design (more time than the actual tattoo took). I had gotten a tattoo of a simple cross and the artist completely screwed it up. It was scarred and uneven, horrible. Plus, it was on my wrist where everyone sees it. I spent months being embarrassed and doing my homework on artists to try to get it fixed. Some refused to touch it and others told me I would have to do a huge cover up to hide it. Jon was honest with what he could and couldn't do. We collaborated and the end result is something that I am proud of and will love showing off. He was able to fix the lines and keep the actual cross as well as add beautiful free-handed filigree. So I've heard of Action Tattoo before and decided to come in just to get a word on my inner bicep. As soon as I got there, I was greeted right away and let them know what I wanted. The owner Roger came in and he took the initiative to take care of me, and his work is amazing! Although I was just getting a word, he took the time to keep re-sketching it until it was the perfect font for me! While finishing the tattoo, he suggested that it would look great with some shading around the word. At first I was bit hesitant because I wanted to keep it simple, but I took a leap of faith and allowed him to do it. Let me tell you, It pops out a million times more!! This place is fantastic. I came in to get my first tattoo and had a rough idea of what I wanted, but didn't have it locked down yet. Luckily, Jon Jackson did my tattoo. He is truly an artist. I cannot say enough great things about this shop. I had 2 tattoos done here a few years ago and when I wanted two more, knew where to go. They are not some tattoo guys,  they are true artists and professionals who take pride in what they do and make sure what they tattoo on you will be something you love. I had ideas of what I wanted and Roger came up with something better. The fact that he took the time to come up with additional ideas was awesome.
