Just got my first tattoo today and Nikki was awesome. She is super nice and took the extra time to make sure I was getting exactly what I wanted. She made me comfortable (music, turned on the heater, conversation, gave me time to go get a taco so I wouldn't be on an empty tummy) and although I was nervous before we started, it didn't even hurt. I chose to get two little paw prints behind my ear and had read online about that being a painful area due to noise and vibration, but it wasn't like that at all. Was relaxing actually. If I could give a BIG ZERO star I would.  This rating is on Nikki and not the entire shop, The young lady at the desk was helpful and another artist came out to tell me NIKKI was on her way.      Now, here is what occured.  I contacted Nikki about a week ago and made an appt with her for a consultation and a time agreed upon was 11 am Aug 1st, on Aug 1st she messaged me early in the day of the appt and asked me to would I be able to reschedule to 12 or 1230.  I replied sure 1230 is good, giving her more time to do whatever she needed to get done.      I arrive at CALREDA tattoo at 1230 and Nikki was not there.  I was asked to please sit, check out the portfolio books of her and other artists and she will be there soon.  Good customer service on the 2 people I mentioned earlier.  At this point I assumed my time isn't as important as hers is and I left.       1230 means 1230, ready to go, not 1235 not 1240, and definitely not 1244 when she messaged me.    1st impressions and being on time are important in a world where there are tattoo shops every half mile. Got my tattoo done by Mark and it was good but unfinished. We planned together that I would be able to come in and get it touched up and for months on end kept saying he was busy. I had to cancel once and since then he has made excuse upon excuse to not finish the tattoo. Would not recommend him for projects that need more attention to detail. If somebody isn't willing to do your small piece correctly first time around I'd highly advise to look else where. Very unprofessional and tried to push blame on me while I have been asking week after week to come in and get it finished. Read Less

Big Jasen at Caldreda Tattoo did an amazing job on my husband's tattoo.  Jasen was incredibly friendly and did an outstanding job.  My husband had a large piece done on his upper arm and the lines are amazing.  My sister in law drew a custom piece for him, and Jasen did a phenomenal job copying it and taking it from the paper into reality on his arm.  The tattoo healed incredibly well and did not crack.  He was very light with the tattoo gun and my husband couldn't be happier.  Jasen was friendly and professional.  I highly recommend him if you are looking for detailed, quality work.  Everyone at the shop was friendly and personable.  Thanks again Jasen I sincerely appreciate you getting his tattoo done for a great price and in such high quality. We followed our artist Jessica Rincon to this new business. Looks very clean inside very professional. Not a huge fan of being tattooed in one large room where someone else could be 5 ft away. But really that's the only downside. Very comfortable environment here. We always come back for Jessica though no matter where she is. Got a tattoo from Mr Grouch. 3 flowers. First flower was great, lots of detail, other 2 no detail. Huge dark outline, plus originally was going to charge 100 an hour for the whole piece. After work was done I was charged 150. Gave the tattoo a chance to heal over and see what it looked like. Color faded and looked even worse. When contacting him to see if he'd fix it by adding a bit more color and detail refused without charging additional. Also, he added black leaves into a tattoo of light colorful hibiscus flowers. I dont know what im going to do about that. Luckily, I have a friend in the industry that saw how bad the tattoo was he is willing to fix it for free for me out of sheer pity. Friday the 13th special!! The wait for the piercing was no more than 40 minutes after they opened.I received a piercing by Amber, she was so friendly and made sure I received an after care paper for my new piercing. As for tattoos I was on the bottom of the second page and chose Javi as my artist! But had to go to work at 1:00 in Oceanside so I decided to leave. On my way to work I received a call that I no longer had to come it to work at this point it was 12:15pm I went back to Caldera to see if they had called my name... they did so my name had just been crossed off, but they were SO COOL about it. Awesome special yesterday(Friday the 13th)! There closing time was 10pm, Arrived around 9:15, they were no longer accepting people for tattoos but we're still accepting people for piercings. I ended up getting a nose piercing, I was the last person pierced & it was a great experience! Great vibes going In & a very comfortable setting! Also, Erica my piercer was beyond amazing! Very comforting & such an awesome attitude! Also a plus was Erica let me know if anything went wrong of any sort to give her a call & come in so she can check the piercing out. Really good prices! Just really RUDE people. I'd come here if you don't mine the workers, but first and last time ever coming here. The waiting are was packed so I told the guy I would be waiting outside. I waited maybe 30 min before walking in only to find out they've been looking for me. I went in and was laughed at when I said I was outside. While I was being worked on I felt like the workers were talking about me because they where referring to me as the guy outside. I'm in my 30s and always wanted a tattoo but knew it would have to be something super special and meaningful for me to make the commitment. I finally took the leap and a week ago had one done by Jessica!  I love it!!  I sent her my design ideas and she was able to sketch the perfect rendition of exactly what I wanted. My tat is honor of my son (my first and so far only child) and my grandmother who sadly passed away three weeks ago. not a tattoo review! this is about the piercer they have working there (Erica) I got two dermals done there on my chest, apparently both were 2 for 70 or 75 but she charged me 80. I always tip someone after work, but what I have or what I think they deserve, (let's be honest) so I thought it was rude she charged a bit more just to get a tip. I even tipped her 10 dollars on top of that. anyways, when she places the dermal marking before putting them, I know it's my responsibility to agree that's where I want them to permanently be, I guess I just couldn't tell from my perspective that they were off, couldn't she had said anything? that the alignment on my piercings weren't straight? as soon as she placed them, i notices right away! and I told her about it, she quickly told me to come in a few days later to get it removed, which I did. she said she'll hold my piecing for me until I was ready again. it was the beginning of the year, coming back from holiday vacation, it as hard to find a good time to come in, work was hectic. i kept in touch, just to make sure she still had what I payed for. I finally reached out to her in march, I was ready, apparently she wasn't. someone had stole her equipment and accessories.  why would you take my piece of jewelry that was USED!  to a tattoo convention? were you planning on using it or something? shouldn't have been there!! she was going to charge me again. I wasn't having it. my present dermal got rejected (my fault, it got yanked on) went in to get it removed, and it would of been nice if she just would of spotted me the favor since the jewelry got stolen, but she charged me more. Erica does not have good customer service!! go get your piercings done somewhere else, someone who actually cares about their customers. she just cares about the money of course. Read Less

My black and gray work is so clean and three-dimensional it's amazing and the cover-up that Jason Hartz is doing on my low back will be breathtaking when it's finished.
