"Honorable" describes the atmosphere here in this laid-back establishment fairly well. The staff treats patrons with respect and courtesy, and it's a given that everyone respects one anothers' boundaries and feelings. There are some very talented people creating their art here. That, obviously is the number one issue when you become a living, walking, breathing exhibition of art. Once inked, you are likely to remain inked, so impulse shopping is not really a good idea. For... me (a first-timer) the process began when I walked in and looked through the style books that the artists put together, with examples of their work. I was absolutely knocked out by the watercolor-style creations that Monty is pioneering. This is a very colorful, dreamy art, with lots of filler and minimal line-drawing. It tends to incorporate a very large number of colors, and in addition to that, the colors are blended, and the body's own natural skin tones are incorporated into the palette. Watercolor certainly isn't the only offering. Quite a few artists work there, and their styles run the full gamut. -- traditional to experimental, Asian, Celtic, religious, humerous, silly, sublime... This is not the kind of place where you choose a pattern from a menu. You work together with your artist to come up with a concept, and then, if you proceed with it the way I did, you come back later after the artist will have , created a drawing or drawings, and you take it from there. One thing to be aware of is the Honorable Society accepts cash only, so this can be an issue if you have your work done on weekends or at nighttime. Fortunately I was able to use Paypal when the cost of my art exceeded my maximum daily withdrawal amount. This is not to say the rates are unreasonalbe. In fact, the opposite is true. The cost is reasonable, and as the saying goes, you get what you pay for... Good work, good atmosphere, especially for first-timers. The environment in some "tattoo parlors" can be somewhat hostile and intimidating for those who have never been inked before, but not here. Check it out. Take your friends, take your mom.
