I paid $100 for a small tattoo. I was very specific. Small, inside of my wrist, and cursive. I went against the original idea I had because it was too big for the placement I wanted. The artist ( Cortez) said he couldn't do the font any smaller so I tried to switch to a basic star tattoo so I wouldn't completely waste his time. He tried to accommodate my original request and I agreed on that. 2 weeks later the last part of my tattoo is barely visible. I went back and they told me they can touch it up when it heals. I told them I wasnt interested in a touch up or redoing the healing process again and that I just want $50 of my money back. The artist said no and the owner said it wasn't going to happen. He also said I should've been charged more. They both said it was common for that part of the wrist to fade. That's something that should've been told to me beforehand. He said he tried to get me to get it on the other part of my arm. The only problem with that is that's not where I wanted it. It's only on my body for the rest of my life and laser hurts way more than a tattoo but no big deal! Keep in mind I also tipped $20 so I'm out $120 for a tattoo that faded two weeks later. I have half of a tattoo so all I wanted was half of my money back. Not that anyone else cares or should care, I got this tattoo in memory of my grandma. It was my mistake to let a random person do it but if you're going to over charge for small tattoos at least do it right the first time and don't expect someone to go through pain and the healing process all over again. I remember walking into this shop on a fluke walking along Hollywood Blvd.  The artists can do it all.  Checked out everyone's flash and really enjoyed work by Michael Kortez.  Incredible surreal designs. line and color work on point.  Artists are friendly and helpful.  It's always fun to get tattooed alongside tourists and wacky visitors.  I have gotten a few pieces from Kortez and they are among my absolute favorite tattoos.  For one large piece I gave him an idea and he drew it up immediately- it was perfect!  If I still lived in LA, I would have even more work done here.  Kortez is a cool cat.  Recommend this shop to anyone in LA. I have come to Tattoo Mania quite a few times now. Rocco and his staff are awesome. They always remember me and my friends, are welcoming, and run a professional shop with fair pricing. I have had my tragus pierced here and multiple tattoos done by the stellar artist Kortez. He's a wizard with ink both on skin and off.  I am constantly asked about my Deathly Hallows and Peter Pan tattoos he did for me. The definition of two-stars ("Meh. I've experienced better") is more fitting then three stars ("A-Ok"), however, I have to give them credit where it's due. I went here for my second tattoo and while the tattoo turned out really good my experience getting the first one was much better. The guys I talked to when I first walked in were super friendly and funny and joked around about potential tattoos, however, I found the artist to be ruder than I would want from someone permanently inking my body. In all fairness, part of my experience may be due to getting a walk in at 1:30 on a Sunday morning but the tattoo artist still acted unprofessionally. The guy who did my tattoo was working on someone else so I waited for a bit. He told me he was going to finish the first guy and run to the bathroom and then would do mine. I was with friends and we were flipping though the stencil books while we waited. I noticed him finish the first guy but he didn't call me back yet. When he did the gun was already prepped and he started to fill it with ink. While nothing about this shop would lead me to worry about cleanliness I asked him to unwrap a new needle in front of me - just on principle and safety. It was late and the artist definitely just wanted to go home (which he shouted to the manager when other people came in for walk ins). Perhaps I was being overly cautious but the artist of my first tattoo made a point of opening everything in front of me; and when it comes to permanent blood diseases why would you ever take even a marginal risk. The real issue was that when I made this request he acted very rudely, as if the few extra minutes it took him were a massive inconvenience. Maybe it's on me for not watching the artist vigilantly at all times after arriving at the shop but it seemed very unprofessional. That said - the tattoo turned out great; and while the price was high for a small and quick tattoo, for a late night walk-in in LA it was reasonable. I don't regret the tattoo but may have chosen a different shop or at least a different artist in hindsight.FYI, the shop minimum is $80 for anything, including a small walk-in. Definitely not unreasonable but caught me by surprise (mine was so small it, quite literally, took two minutes but still ran me $80. Brian recolored my old tattoo, and it looks better than it ever did!  He also did anchor tats for 4 of the guys in the awesome band my son is in... all of them were amazing and detailed and beautiful.  For the record, I've had my one and only tattoo for a long time, and I've had it recolored at least once... again, it has never looked better.  I was very impressed by his cleanliness and he is a sweetheart as well. Sammy, was thee man in all honesty. He conducted himself super professionally. He made sure that I say him prep, which made me feel mooore comfortable seeing all the packaging being opened in front of me, he was super sterile the way he prepped. I went into the shop on a whim with my mom and her best friend for an adventure and we were all able to get the tattoo that we wanted right away. Each one of our artists worked on our designs and delivered beautiful art, especially Danny and Sammy. While my tattoo turned out great, my experience with my artist was not one that left me feeling taken care of. He rushed through my tattoo, was very heavy handed and rough, did not take care to pay attention to the gradient colors that I was requesting, and he inked outside of my outline in a few places. Basically, he was rude and not personable at all. I felt like he just wanted to get me in and out of his chair. His bandage at the end was sloppy and my tattoo was bleeding like crazy. I looked like I'd been stabbed outside on the street! Rocco, the owner, a very, very nice and personable guy throughout our whole visit told my artist at the end to re-bandage me and my artist was not happy about it. He put a dry paper towel over the art, argued with Rocco about his method, and wrapped me up, even though the tattoo was still weeping a lot. I removed it later with warm water and carried on with proper aftercare but the tattoo has since been going through an intense bruising process and is definitely healing a bit different than my other tattoos. Feeling uneasy about the whole experience, I touched based with Rocco a few days later (after finding out that he is good friends with my aunt!) to give him my thoughts. He was kind and understanding and listened to my concerns. I assured him that the art my artist left behind was fine but that my experience with this particular artist was not and that I wished I had been treated better. He told me that he'd taken care of this artist and had fired him the night before for that incident and others since. This gave me peace knowing that other tattoo seekers would not experience the same low feeling that I did! Rocco assured me that I can come in and that he, personally, would have my tattoo retouched and the colors redesigned to my expectations. My initial feeling to give this shop 3 stars went up to 5. Rocco takes care of his clientele and there are amazing artists there that can give you a beautiful, stunning piece of body art! The quality of one artist does not determine the quality and worth of the shop as a whole but Rocco understands that it can affect business and he did the right thing. I heard about Tattoo Mania on social media when someone I follow did a post showing off some good work from Danny. I finally went in and got a matching tattoo w/  a friend. We decided to get a cute little traditional rose on our hands, Brian (or Bryan) did ours. But when my friend got hers, I chickened out on putting it on my hand and put it in to fill some space on my arm instead LOL!! He gave me good advice that if I "wasn't 100% sure" about placement not to do it on hand. Thanks Brian. Overall shop was cool and the location is awesome, right on the Sunset strip for some good people watching. It had an old skool vibe to it which as a Los Angeles native, is hard to find these days, you can tell there's a lot of history in it. We had a little bit of a wait time cause it was really busy but the owner kept us updated. He was really friendly and soft spoken and talked with my friend about her recent trip to Italy. I am extremely picky about who gets to touch -- let alone tattoo -- my body.However, Rocco at Tattoo Mania set me at ease.  He was a little intimidating at first but he's really the nicest. Great shop, great artists!! Albert Sgambati has been tattooing me for well over 30 years and I have never had a bad experience. I have literally 3/4 of my body done in mostly Japanese florals by Albert and they are all amazing. There's a reason while I'm still getting tattooed by him to this day. I also have work done by many famous and infamous old school artists (Jonathan Shaw, Lyle Hardy, Spyder Web, Mike Bakaty....I'm not new to the game. Albert is as good as they get. To Raymond and his cover up.....Al is an artist. If you got off on the wrong foot you should have walked out. When it comes to tattoos the client must take partial responsibility for the outcome. You're dealing with artists, not pencil pushers who sit behind a desk all day. I take personal offense to bashing a well known, well respected artist on the internet just because the client doesn't understand or respect the process. Your anger should be directed at the "artist" who did the original work, not guy who got stuck trying to fix the mess you walked in with. A good share of the responsibility lies with you and your ability to develop a working relationship with your artist. From what I read in your review, if the shop owner/manager also took offense to you, then maybe, just maybe, your millennial attitude needs to adjusted before proceeding next time, at your own risk. Unprofessional! There's an artist called Albert Sgambati who accepted to work on the improperly done outline and a tribal star I had on my arm and he told me he would be able to cover it up and make it look great. After 3 sessions and charging me $780 my arm looks horrible and I'm basically a laughing stock. Albert asked me to leave the price on the release form blank and when I went to the shop to complain to the manager, Rocco treated me like I'm the bad guy here and told me I didn't pay $780 dollars and they don't offer free tattoos!!!! .He also told me that there's another artist who can fix the mess and I have to pay him again (He can give me a deal) to fix Albert's mess since they're independent contractors. I uploaded all the pictures and this was a really bad experience for me.They've added some reviews after mine to sugercoat it but unfortunately Albert shouldn't have accepted to work on my tattoo since it wasn't in his department (Cover up).Update:To Albert: McDonald's always hiring. Please do everybody a favor and go work at McDonald's,  you have no business in tattooing.To Rocco: You need to learn how to talk to your customers. don't get a piercing by SKIP! he pierced my sisters cartilage wrong and had to repierce it and he put a too small of a stud in my new nose piercing so that it started swelling and my piercing started to sink through my skin and had to change it myself hopefully my piercing doesn't close! Read Less

My sister and I walked in hoping to be seen as a walk in for a small tattoo. Brian was her artist and immediately greeted her at the door. He told her when he would be finished with his current client and when to expect to see him later that day. Brian gave a quote and let us know how to get ahold of him if need be. We left and were told to check in two hours later. Brian doesn't know but we visited two other shops in the area. None of those shops were pleasant or even greeted us when we walked in. We knew we needed to stay at Tattoo Mania. Especially since the service was amazing.  Sure enough we came in two hours later to Brian. The whole process was efficient and professional. Wouldn't recommend based on my experience. I came in on a Saturday night looking for a simple tattoo, and had images for reference. Was greeted by a nice girl and she drew up what I wanted. It looked good on the trace, but was poorly executed. She made the lines much thicker than I'd wanted, which I'm guessing was to even out uneven thin lines that I'd wanted. The lettering was not good. It literally looked like a kid did it. She was so nice but it's just not a good piece. When I went to another reputable studio to see about a coverup a week later, the artist told me the ink was essentially slammed in there and it had started to blow out. I think if you're making an appointment with someone who's work you really know, then your experience could be totally positive. But I feel like I'm out $100 + what it's going to cost me for a proper coverup. Read Less

Im seriously impressed with my experience at this shop. Ive been tattooed at so many other shops in LA and this is by far my favorite so far. They are friendly, professional, clean, sterile, and most importantly, my tattoo artist (Kevin) did an excellent job. Its hard for me to be 100% satisfied with a tattoo, but this time it came easy. I visited countless shops throughout the years,even a this location , i got good artist but AC is amazing , but it was till I met AC Flores! He's creative, talented and consciencious, courteous, maticulous. The detail is oustanding, we've both had compliments from people who don't care for tattoos!
