Katie is seriously one of the most amazing artists out there. I am having her work on my whole sleeve right now and she is big on giving what you want. Everyday, I get at least one compliment on my work that she has done. Her colors and line work are pretty perfect- for one of my pieces, I knew the idea that I wanted but she took times out of her days to research references and bounce ideas off of me until we worked on a perfect fit for me. She would send me ideas all throughout the day until I was happy and ask me what I liked or disliked about it.I have never met an artist who even researched the meanings behind the tattoos so that they are able to capture the true essence of it all. She makes you feel comfortable right from the very start and is awesome at working with your schedule. Even while she was working on me, she was able to read how my body and skin were reacting to the process, and even knew when to stop, before any tearing happen during the process.  If you are freaking out while healing, she will message you back during pretty much all times of the day to answer any questions or concerns; she is very detailed on how to do the after care. I never go anywhere else anymore for my tattoos. West End is beautiful, it feels good to be there unlike a lot of other typical shops I've been to. I prefer the welcoming atmosphere here. My personal preference. Jamie the owner is fantastic. I always have her do my work! I have a large back piece which I am always getting compliments on. Women of all kinds and ages stop to tell me how pretty it is. I also have a gorgeous calf piece Jamie did. It was a challenging cover up and she did it beautifully. I've had so many compliments on my tattoo, it's ridiculous!I had Jamie Thompson as my tattoo artist and I couldn't be happier. I brought in a dynamic vampiric piece and Jamie did such a fantastic job! Even my family that was iffy on what I wanted ended up loving it. Most of the positive reviews are for the original crew that all left to form another shop, which is amazing. I highly recommend White Lotus,  which has fixed what they messed up The real problem here is the owner, she doesn't show up for appointments. Forget getting a reply for touch ups or issues. I had an issue with my tattoo,  which was done by Katie and too deep so it's mostly scar tissue.  It took 5 hours to get work done because the owner didn't show,  so we got put with a different artist who was disorganized and acted like she was on drugs. She was unprofessional and used another person's machine to save time and went too deep on my tattoo. I messaged them numerous times with pictures on how to help it heal,  and went to several shops when they were no help and each said "oh yea,  they went too deep". The owner and artist both met with me and offered no apology and only blamed me. The owner also responded to my review and blamed it on me still,  rather than offering any help or being professional.  Katie tried a little,  but didn't go all the way and rather argued that it was indeed my fault.  I have numerous tattoos that all look amazing.  The first star she tattooed is raised and messed up,  in which she commented that this gun "hits a little harder" and adjusted it.  There is no way I could have done anything to mess up just the fist star. Anyways,  I hope this saves any potential new customers from the mess of this place and the horrible work on your body for life. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. I had the most amazing experience with Jamie. I need her to put a picture of my elephant on here. I have the most beautiful elephant going down the back of my neck/ back. I came into West End to get my first tattoo done & I was so happy with the end result! Jamie, the owner, tattooed me & walked me through the whole process. From walking in to set up an appointment & her help with finalizing my design, tweaking it over & over until she got it exactly how I wanted it, to explaining everything she was doing to prep for the actual tattoo, everything she did was always professional & you could tell she really cares about the work she does as well as my being content with the work. Although my design was small & I knew it wouldn't take more than a few minutes, I was freaking myself out about the pain aspect since I didn't know what it would feel like. Jamie calmed me down & answered all the questions I had & advised me to breath as she layed the first few strokes of ink into my skin. A couple minutes later & I was done! It came out EXACTLY how I wanted it & I could not have asked for a better experience, especially for my first tattoo. She gave me aftercare instructions & I left the shop smiling! I love this spot. The atmosphere is cool. Slightly jazzy and edgy. Super clean and inviting. We were welcomed right away and felt comfortable. Jamie Thompson did my lil baby tattoo. Just a tiny heart somewhere where only I can see it. I was shocked by how she took time to make sure her workspace was prepped for me. I got a tattoo that took 3 minutes tops, but she hooked it up like she was going to be working on me for hours. It kinda felt like "that trip" to see your Lady doctor once a year. Got two tattoos done by Bree. Apparently she's new because she hasn't been reviewed on yelp and none of her work is online. I am extremely disappointed in her work. The lines in my tattoos that are supposed to be straight and symmetrical are  crooked and uneven. Not to mention the shading. That's another thing that she did a terrible job on. It just looks blotchy. In no way are they completely shaded in. I want to emphasize how disappointed I am in this work because these tattoos mean a lot to me and having them done so lazily and sloppy really ruined the experience. For any of you reading this review unless you want a lopsided uneven crooked tattoo if you go to West End Gallery I wouldn't let Bree tattoo you. Read Less

I had a couple tattoos done here at once at West End tattoo and they said they could do these handprint and footprint of my daughters and it ends up it's crap work and looks terrible my wife has been sick to her stomach and crying ever since I got them. They look like burnt and swollen and pussing feet and nothing like the handprint and footprint that I showed them. Now I scheduled a cover up tattoo for these handprints that I'm supposed to cherish because they're my children but I have to cover them up and my wife is distraught. I decided to spontaneously get my first tattoo while in Ventura. I was looking at different reviews for tattoo places on yelp and I stumbled upon this gem. I showed up on a Saturday around 6 without an appointment and they were able to fit me in for 8. The space is incredibly well kept and clean and the staff was helpful and friendly. I also really appreciated the fact that the space was female friendly, with it being run by female staff. The artist was incredibly helpful as well, and I felt at ease even though I was kind of nervous. All in all, I would definitely go back again. I gave it only 4 stars because I only got a simple piece, so I have yet to see how well bigger pieces would be. Read Less

I came in expecting to meet with a specific artist and they said the artist was not in so I got another artist who was available and I loved her work. Came in 5/16 and wanted 2 tattoos, one large one medium. Was quoted 100/hr. Work was done 5/31.I had a lot of trouble getting ahold of people at the shop at first, I mean a lot more than really is reasonable so if you can deal with all that maybe you will enjoy the experience more, Im too impatient to deal with tracking people down when I have to pay that much cash so I got stressed.I got half my large tattoo design done and none of the medium, mainly there wasn't time in the shop's schedule and my own. Its crowded both in amount of room for work stations and in the amount of time to get an appointment. It takes a lot of time from conception of art to tattoo for larger pieces so be ready for that.The work I had done was great, but really be ready for the whole process I described. Also I dont know why the shop has a massive waiting room with no one in it then 2 rooms with like 4 artists to a room crammed in all doing clients at the same time. I would just convert the bottom floor into artist workspace and spread everyone out. Makes more sense to let the artists do their magic with plenty of space.If you want a small quick script or tattoo of something tiny they can knock it out, but if you want huge pieces make sure your artist can give you appointments upfront, and can complete the entire piece by the day you both agree on before paying anything. By far the best, most professional, clean, and friendly place I have ever been to! There is no sort of hostile feeling you may get when entering a tattoo place. The tattooing takes place upstairs so you don't hear or see anything until the artist has prepared the station. I felt more comfortable here than a lot of businesses in general!
