My wife and I went in today for the Friday the 13th tattoo special, we had Rob Hill as our artist, and he was incredible! Great guy, awesome to be around, and very professional! Went to Ventura based on the reviews. My daughter wanted two piercings (helix & tragus). I was not sure about getting both at one time. After meeting Michi and listening to her explanation of the piercings I felt comfortable enough to proceed with both piercings. Michi was so calm and again explained the steps before starting. She marked the two spots to make sure the location was correct. My daughter did get a little light headed. Michi immediately got her cold water and candy. She even walked us to the car. Matt Dekker!!! Matt has pierced me over 18 times and I will only go to him if I have the option to only go to him. He is so attentive has amazing attention to detail, extremely hygenic. Never one had a piercing from him gotten infected or has been crooked. If you don't know what to get pierced don't worry he has a great eye for it. Think you have to many? I had previously been pierced here in October and had an excellent experience. I took my friends in there last week to get their nipples pierced. Matt pierced both of my friends that night even though it was closing time. He was very professional, made all of us feel comfortable and was very sterile. His patience with us was off the chart, as we are all very wild. I had left a hat there, I texted Matt and he responded that he was keeping it safe at the shop. So a couple days ago I finally mustard up the courage to get my nips pierced. Ventura Tattoo and Piercing was one of the places I came across while I was doing my research. I chose this place out of all others based on the good reviews their previous customers wrote. I gave them a call about a month before to ask a few questions I had and they seemed very knowledgeable and had great customer service. The place looked awesome and well cleaned and they have high quality jewelry.  I was a walk in and was able to get pierced right away. My piercer Matt greeted me and made me feel super comfortable since I was extremely nervous. He let me know what the right way to pierce was and went through the steps with me. He was very thorough and really informative. All tools were sanitized properly. Matt had a great personality and there was no awkwardness and he made sure I felt fine the entire time. Matt also let me have my sister and a friend with me in room for support. I'm so happy I got them done and happy I came to this place. It's awesome and Matt the piercer is amazing! Such an amazing staff! Niels removed my sons dermal skin anchor and pierced his and my nose. This is the 4th time I've had my nose pierced and it was BY FAR the best piercing I've ever had. Matt, who will be taking over for Niels when he moves to Washington in a month, is super chill and amazing. I was skeptical, cuz that's how I am. I've had bad experiences BUT...! Super clean. Cool decor. Love the art on the walls. My artist is Nelson. He delivered exactly what I had hoped for and then some. Absolutely knocked it out of the park. Nelson is professional, has a gentle touch and is a hell of an artist. Other tidbits: the piercer was so thorough and professional. It was unlike anything I've ever seen. He took his time with his clients, was knowledgeable about their products (material, gauge size, etc) and he took safety very seriously. I... was eyeballing a couple of small knives in the case. I asked to see two of them. One was $22 and the other like $35. The owner of the shop recommended the $22 knife because it's easier to handle. Who does that? Oh, I know... an honest business person. This was such a horrible experience. My artist didn't listen to what I wanted at all, I told her that needed to be somewhere in four hours (including travel time), which she said was completely doable and she would be able to complete the tattoo with plenty of time to spare. I wasn't asking for anything complicated or large. my tattoo that I wanted was about 3 inches by 5 inches big. She took over an hour to sketch out the extremely simple design, another half hour as a break to eat, and an entire hour to actually tattoo the design on my hip. I didn't ask for shading, and she shaded the entire piece, while also talking to her coworkers as if we weren't in a rush by the time I was actually on the table. After the whole ordeal it was obvious that we were trying to leave, and she continued to talk slowly and as if we had all the time in the world. She then took three pictures on theee different phones, and had to go get her phone from the back, AFTER taking pictures on MY and my friends phone so we could send them to her. She very kindly gave me an aqua fore packet, but that was the extent of her seeming to care about my time. Her name was corina cline. Do NOT get a tattoo from her unless you're ok with her making decisions about the tattoo you're getting for you. VERY unsatisfied and late to the show. Read Less

I went in to get my lip re pierced. Niles was my piercer and was very helpful. After looking at where my old piercing was, he said he could just re insert jewelry into the same hole, saving me some money! During the procedure he was very nice, answering all my questions professionally and clearly with a lot of experience and knowledge. The shop atmosphere is classic, but not intimidating. Honestly, soooo much praise to this place. I got my nose pierced at a different shop about eight months ago. The experience was good and I thought everything was fine and dandy. Well eight months later and my nose still hadn't healed. I'm a very big stickler for following aftercare instructions so I knew it wasn't anything I was doing to make this happen. It was constantly getting a bump on it and it always looked irritated. On a whim, while getting a tattoo this past Friday the 13th  I asked the piercer at the shop {The Ink House} to take a look at it. She asked what kind of metal it was and I told her it was surgical steel. She informed me that some surgical steel pieces have traces of nickel, which ding ding ding I'm allergic to. She said that titanium jewelry was definitely the way for me to go but they didn't have any at their shop and recommended me to check here, Ventura Tattoo. That weekend I went online and looked at all the wonderful reviews that this shop had. I've actually gotten a small tattoo here once before and had a nice experience. The reviews on their piercers about their knowledge and skill seemed to be the best reviews I've ever read. I called yesterday and spoke to Niles over the phone and explained my situation. He suggested that I come into the shop to look at the jewelry and to take a look at my piercing. Once I got there, Niles was the one to greet me. He mentioned that they were low on jewelry because of the Friday the 13th sale but I was still pretty impressed with what they had. He took a look at my piercing and not only did he think that the type of jewelry might be an issue but the size could possibly be an issue as well. He explained why and what a solution would be. I decided right then and there that I needed to get this jewelry switched out immediately. I picked a piece and Niles offered to put it in for me which I graciously accepted. Because the display was actually the last piece of what I wanted, it had to be sterilized. Niles explained and showed me exactly how the piece was sterilized which was really reassuring. After the sterilization process was finished, he took me back and swapped out my jewelry. It was seamless and Niles once again explained exactly what he was doing step-by-step. He then also gave me advice on how to help with the irritation that the other piercing caused. I have to give a HUGE thanks to Niles for all his help, his patience, and his work. Thanks to him, I'm hopeful that I will have a fully healed piercing soon and actually not cringe when I look at in the mirror. 100% will only be going here for anymore of my piercing needs and I recommend that you do the same! I am currently in the process of getting a tattoo from decades ago covered with an awesome custom piece by Corina. I've wanted a gargoyle for 20 years and finally had the opportunity to make this happen. She is an amazing artist and a very easy going and professional master of her craft! She takes great care in her work and pays attention to every detail.The shop in general is very clean and has a welcoming vibe and atmosphere. Great work done very professionally at a fair price. Came here to get a custom piece drawn up and laid down and was pretty stoked on how it all worked out. The art was extremely well done for a custom piece with the few guidelines I gave. Rob laid down the outline in a few hours and filled it in with another 6 hour follow up session which was freaking rough for me...but that's the nature of tattoos. Overall a great result. My friend and I spontaneously wanted to get a tattoo, and we wanted to find a place that accommodated walk-ins. Corina was able to do both of our tattoos within a couple of hours and did a great job. We both got two small tattoos on our upper sides, and it was quick and painless for me (although my friend's wasn't so easy because it had much more shading). Mine healed in a week. I decided to try this place out to get my nose pierced and I have to say, I was so impressed by how informative and knowledgable Niles is. He was very nice and approachable when I walked into the studio. And he was very hygienic! He talked me through the kinds of jewelry, the prices, and throughout the whole process including the aftercare. With that being said, it wasn't done as quickly as I thought it would be because there was a lot of talking. But I think that's because he was teaching an apprentice too. Funny enough, the next morning I realized I lost the ball to the nose ring. Maybe I swallowed it in my sleep? I stopped by the studio the next day to get it replaced and that's when I met Tabytha. She seemed a little weirded out when I told her that I lost the ball (lol). The prices seemed reasonable! The only thing is that it cost me $5 to replace the ball. Got my second tattoo done here by Danny about two weeks ago. Super clean environment, and I really praise the fact that they use medical grade supplies. Danny was really friendly, as was the rest of everyone that works here. My 14 year old son has been bugging me about getting his ears pierced.  I brought him a pair of magnetic stud earrings to wear to see if he could bare wearing earrings.  He wore them without complaint.My son reminded me that today was the day I said he could get his ears pierced.  Damn! I hate to break promises!  I started doing Google research on what were the best methods to pierce ears.  All things pointed to professional piercers instead of the mall "gun" method.  I was going to Ventura County to visit my nephew at the Naval Base, so I looked for the best piercer in Ventura.  Ventura Tattoo & Piercing had received great reviews.I called Ventura Tattoo & Piercing.  I spoke with Niles.  He was so helpful over the phone and assured me that they were a great place to get my son's ears pierced.  When we arrived Niles instantly remembered me.  He had a customer ahead of us but, he invited us to listen in as he gave her instructions on how to care for the piercings.While listening, my son soon started feeling light headed and hot.  He told me he was going to pass out.  Mind you, he wasn't getting his ears done.  He hadn't even picked out his earrings yet.  One of the guys in the shop gave him a glucose tablet and water.  That was so very nice of him.  He was feeling better by the time Niles was finished with the person ahead of us.  I asked my son if he was ready to go through with this he said he was.  Again, Niles explained the procedure to us and we were on out way into the piercing room.  Wow!  Niles was VERY meticulous about this process and procedure.  Everything he used was sterile and fresh out the packages.  He took his time in placing the markings for the holes.  He talked my son through each step.  It didn't take long and it was over.  Thank you so much Niles for doing a great job.  You are a true professional and really delivered good CUSTOMER SERVICE.  Thanks to the other guy who provided the glucose tablet and water to my son.
