I do not recommend this shop. I went there with my cousin to get matching tattoos. He messed up on mine, I saw it, I watched him look at it and then look me in the eye, and never said a word. He covered it up and sent me on my way without a word about it. It's a tattoo, it's permanent and he is a very unprofessional in my opinion who doesn't care about customer service. I've been going to Ricky since my first tattoo on my eighteenth birthday. He's done most of my tattoos and has tattooed many members of my family. I've had a few pieces done at other shops and always end up back at Only Skin Deep. His work is always bright and beautiful. Today I can in with two pictures and a loose idea, and left with an absolutely stunning piece on my arm. Ricky and his shop and clean and professional, but personable and friendly at the same time. I was surprised to see this place was still around, honestly. Got my first tattoo here in 1992 when I was stationed on Mare Island. Outlines still look good. The blacks stayed in much better than the tattoos I've gotten in the past 5-10 years. Read Less

Tattoo process was fast and clean ! Tottally going to come back I went to 3 different shops to get a price check on a Tatt I wanted and all those amatuers gave a high price with out even looking at it, this shop was my last hope and he gave me a super reasonable price after looking at, best feeling ever when you have great prices and great service. I got my very first tattoo done here, the day after New Years; and it was a pretty big piece. And I have to say, Rick did an amazing job! I went to Only Skin Deep to get a cover up. I had the worst most disgusting tattoo ever. It was a blue heart with the word "Always" underneath it and 3 simple/bulky butterflies going through it. I went to Old Crow in Oakland and Stewart said I'd have to get laser surgery to get it light enough to cover. So I went to Rick to get a second opinion and as soon as he saw it, he agreed to do it. They say when you find something good, you hold on to it... That's exactly how I feel about Mr. Rick. I first saw his work on my boyfriend, who has 10 tattoos done by him and compared to the two that are done by other [local] shops, you can see the difference in quality and appearance. Rick's tattoos prove that it's the little things that make all the difference. My boyfriend has a dove that he simply shaded in and it looks as if he filled it in with white. By far my favorite tattoo I've ever seen and it's your typical dove with an olive branch tattoo. But what made me fall in love with his work is the two tattoos I have. My first was a yellow red tip rose with my boyfriend's name as the stem. The colors are so rich, the healing was quick and the pain didn't last long. Rick was so kind and soothing and it helped tremendously. I walked out proud of it and not because it symbolized true love and friendship but because of the fact it was seemlessly beautiful. I knew then, no one with a tattoo gun besides Rick would ink this skin. I recently lost my grandmother, I walked in his shop with a vague description of a collage I wanted and when he sketched it out and showed it to me, I was speechless and all I could say is that I loved it. Every aspect was spot on and truly fulfilled the meaning behind it. I saw it on me and he brought tears to my eyes. To see that Rick had the ability to bring her memory to life, that I was able to carry her around physically ended my mourning and I know that my grandmother would be proud. Rick is the epitome of what a tattoo artist should be he's an outstanding artist, he makes your ink dreams a reality. He's talented at drawing, it makes your tattoos come out even better. OMG!!!!  I went to Rick because I wanted a hummingbird as an add on to some pink flowers on my shoulder. First of all I told him I wanted the colors to match my pink flowers. The hummingbird turned out to be dark blue bright yellow dark green and red.  What was he thinking????  To top it all off the bird looks mean. these dark colors cannot be removed so I gotta change the color of the flowers now which is not cool. Myself and several people I've talked to said they won't go back because he's a minister and preaches. His church believes tatts are a sin so isn't he a hypocrit for inking people??  I am now going to Ann at Allied Ink and she is awesome!!To top all this off he told me he was giving a discount but I got a lot of work from ann at allied for 1/2 of what he charged me and now it looks a hell of a lot betterThe place is not clean. One word: Rude. Turn away immediately and go to a tattoo artist who will treat you with respect because this man must be going through his end of life crisis, powerful rude. Right when I walked into this 60s nostalgia shop, I felt like my business wasn't wanted, maybe because I wasn't "tattoo savvy" or something about me turned him off so. awesome place!!!!  times are tough now as we all know.  Rangoon Ricky took trade!!!  Yes trade!  He has a "trade book" on the wall.  I checked it and some of the things in there I had. A $400.00 tattoo cost me $59.00 cash.  the rest was trade.  He did my first tattoo 25 years ago, and he just tattoo'd my daughter yesterday when she turned 18...................................came out awesome.   She's now getting her friends down there to get tatted!!!  Good atmosphere, not a long wait and most importantly great artist.  Highly recommend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
