I just had my nose pierced by Mike, and it was such an excellent experience. He spent a lot of time making sure everything was very clean and sterile. He walked me through every part of the process so I'd know what to expect, and the piercing itself was quick, and very easy/very little pain. Just got a tattoo done this afternoon by joe and I love it! It's very clean and it smells like a doctors office which is what you want! How did an amazing job. I got a small outlined cat with a little shading and I just love it! Very quick and got me in with no appointment. Definitely recommend this place to everyone looking to get a tattoo! I called a week in advance to get my four lobe piercings re-done. They had earlier appointments, so for future reference you could probably easily get next day piercing appts. Mike was my artist and he was amazing. He asked me about the history of my piercings, and listened and made sure to make clear the protocol for redos. He advised me on the best type of jewelry for the best healing, proper types of jewelry to purchase for the future when I need to switch out and everything in between. He is very very very VERY clean, and talked me through every step of the process. The piercings by nature are not that painful, but he was so swift I could barely even register that a needle had in fact gone through my ear lobe (let alone through scar tissue). He double checked everything with me, which is always nice because you really know what you are getting. Total cost for four lobe piercings with jewelry was $250, well worth it. I will be honest, I have my ears pierced when I was 16 and I was quite content to leave it that way. I have had headaches for 20 years. I went ahead and had the Daith piercing . I can go hours to even days with no headache. It was not a complete care for me but even a few hours of relief is a blessing. I felt pretty old going in there, but the professionalism and the courtesy of the staff put me at ease. As a nurse I was very impressed at the cleanliness and handwashing before during and after the piercing. I have had to go back twice in order to have my earring replaced. Piercings are done Tuesday thru Saturday.I called the shop on Thursday to see if they had any room Friday for a conch piercing (although I called it an "orbital"...thanks, random internet reference photos) that I've been wanting for a few years. The schedule was wide open for the next day so a coworker and I walked over after work.Mike was at the desk when we walked in the door and immediately greeted us and informed me he'd be my artist, and handed me a tablet with liability info to read through while he prepped the room. He was friendly and respectful and asked if his apprentice could shadow the procedure, which was fine.Mike was very clean, thorough, had ready answers to my questions (e.g., pros/cons of barbell vs hoop for the initial healing phase, especially since I got both sides done at the same time) and gave clear directions to follow while getting the piercing and for aftercare. When I told him I would probably switch to hoops after they had healed, he adjusted the target markings so they would sit in a more comfortable position when the barbells get swapped out. And his office features Captain America stuff, SF Giants memorabilia, and prints of Nintendo characters portrayed in old Japanese-style paintings. We talked video games and chinchillas. What's not to like? Cost was $100 for a conch piercing on each side with barbells (quoted upfront, although on the phone I thought I had heard "around $40"...maybe they assumed I only wanted one side and different materials?). It's just out of my comfort zone but I know that behind that is a lot of training, safety precautions, sterilization, experience, and someone who cares about their clients. And probably nowhere near the amount of trauma/damage a piercing gun would have done to my cartilage. I don't plan on any more piercings at this time (I'm at 5 on each side now), and wish I had found him sooner so he could have done my previous ones. All the same, I might revisit the business for future tattoo possibilities based off this visit.Thanks Mike! Read Less

I grew up in Ukiah. I came to Accent to get my industrial piercing and my tongue pierced, I think Adam did both of those. I also got my first tattoo done here by Jody (a set of stars on my chest). Needless to say I have been back to Jody for two more (a large dragon w/ lotus on my back and bows on the back of my thighs) and have every intention of being back for others as well. Jody does excellent color work! 3 out of 4 tattoos I have were done here. Have I mentioned I no longer live in Ukiah? I lived in Ukiah for my teen-aged years and once I left, this shop was one of the main things I missed about the area. Once I set foot in other places to get more piercings, I realized at once that I had taken this shop entirely for granted. Let me elaborate--PIERCING: I've gotten several piercings here: an industrial, a cartilage piercing, and two lobe piercings. The Industrial and lobes were done by Adam, I think, and the lobes by the younger guy (I don't know his name). I really appreciate Adam's expertise--he's been piercing for over twenty years, I think, and it really shows up in his work. I only have one issue with my lobe piercings, but it's my own fault (they are closer to my first lobe piercings than I hoped, but he asked me if they were OK before he did it and  I said they were. My fault). TATTOO: I got my first tattoo here, and I'm heading back up that way (150 miles out of the way) to do my second. The artists are all talented and friendly. While I was getting mine done, the artist, Jody, was happy to explain the process and tell me what was going on. Also, I didn't have an appointment when I came to get my tat done, but they made sure I knew they were happy to squeeze me in.One more good thing I have to say about Accent; HYGIENE! These people really take hygiene seriously. I'm pretty sure all of the piercing and tattoo equipment is one-time use, and ALL of the hardware like earrings and such are all sterilized to the highest possible level using some kind of pressurized contraption that is the latest technology (sorry, I forget what it's called). While being taken care of there, the employees are always changing their rubber gloves in order to keep things sterile. One place I went to in Berkeley didn't change their gloves when we came in, she pierced four of us, then left THE SAME gloves on for the next group of people. That's kind of unacceptable. My point is that Accent cares. Re-reading this I realize it looks like I'm just an employee plugging for the shop, but I swear, I'm just passionate about this sweet little company. Happy body mod!
