I got a rather large tattoo last week from Matt and was more than pleased with his work. I went in to get an estimate on a tattoo. They wrote down my information and the tattoo idea I had, said they needed a deposit (understandable) $20. He said he'd give me a call in 1-2 days with a time to come in and check it out. -forward to A WEEK LATER I have heard NOTHING back. Pretty frustrating. I wouldn't recommend anyone going there. After reading so many great reviews, I decided to check this place out in hopes of getting a tattoo. Right when I walked in I didn't feel the warm welcome like most these reviews had mentioned. The guy that helped me simply asked how he could help me and I told him what I wanted. He said to come back in about an hour and a half and to leave a deposit to secure my spot. I came back in an hour hoping I could just wait for the remaining time at the shop but found it odd that the same guy didn't remember who I was despite the fact that I put down a deposit and I was just there an hour prior. A few minutes later he told me that I couldn't get in for another two to three hours. I just decided to get my deposit back and leave because the guy wasn't very sympathetic and I don't understand why he didn't check the schedule before I wasted over an hour just waiting around. Had Matthew there do some script on my collarbone and neck and it came out better than I could have asked for! My friend and I just finished getting our first and matching tattoos done here, Jeff and Evan were amazing about the whole thing. Jeff let me take as long as I needed to get over my fainty-moment and Evan kept talking to my friend so she was distracted. It was an amazing experience and the guys were absolutely great. I'm from San Francisco and was looking for good quality artists here in the Valley. Was originally attracted to Mike's shop because the environment, interiors, and ambiance are on point. Fast forward to him being completely unprofessional. For one, he was drinking whiskey and smoking weed before and during the session. I'm all for both of those things but not while you're on the job and needling in a design for life! Secondly, he didn't listen to what I wanted and made the colors completely different from what I wanted. He made my piece a lot bigger than what I wanted. There were cockroaches in the bathroom. And to top it all off he said I could never come back to the shop. I'm truly sad and I highly dislike my arm piece :(  Now I have to get this huge piece covered up somehow? Thank you Mike! Read Less

After just moving to Turlock, and having an artist at our old town, I was nervous about where to go now.  There are many, many shops in Turlock too.  Thankfully a friend recommended Royal Dagger and either Mike or Mark.  When I walked in I was greeted by a very nice guy who turned out to be co-owner, Mike.  I showed him my ideas, he drew up a beautiful piece, and a few days later gave me the most beautiful tattoo I could ask for!! He is a very down to earth guy and has a great shop with awesome vibes!! He let me come in early when the shop was closed to work around my schedule, turned on some sweet tunes to relax me, and away he went.  He was so mindful of my concerns and listened to me ramble =)  Thanks so much Mike, I love my tattoo so much.  We will be back and are referring you to anyone who asks!!!
