He was upfront about how colored ink responds to the skin vs. black ink and was patient with me while we figured out sizing and design details. This place lost a potential new customer today. When I walked in, I was confronted by an old lady at the front. I asked her if they had any available appointments today, and right away I could see the judgement in her face. She rudely responded, "For what??" I told her that I have a few small tattoos on my hand that I wanted retouched. She quickly responded with, "NO, who told you we do hand tattoos?" This shop is conveniently located on Hwy 79, easy to find and in a nice shopping center with lots of parking. The inside is very bright and clean. I can tell you that they put safety and cleanliness as a top priority. I love the nautical decor.So, about the service. Eva will take the necessary time to talk to you about the design that you want, and the best placement for your body. For my first tattoo, I didn't really have a reference, just an idea in my head and she came up with the most beautiful and thoughtful design that I absolutely fell in love with. I came back a few months later for another tattoo and she once again took thoughtful time designing my tattoo. She has a keen eye for detail and has a wide range of tattoo style abilities. Came in over a year ago (March 2015) to get an arm piece done by Eva and I am honestly so freakin impressed at how awesome it still looks and I get so many compliments on it. I got a swallow bird with cherry blossoms and a compass on my left arm. At first I thought I wanted something along the lines of an American Traditional, but I really liked her especially after my first tattoo I got that I agreed to see how she would draw it out in her own style and I am so so so glad I decided to go with it.The way she drew it fit me so well, it's cute and girly and delicate, plus it just flows so nicely with my arm. Unfortunately I moved out of Temecula, but I am still itching to get some more work done by her!Not to mention I love the nautical vibe of the shop and how awesome she is to talk to. Eva Phoenix.  Her name alone was enough to draw me in!!  I sent a LENGTHY email to the shop describing what I wanted.  Eva invited me to come in and talk in more depth and detail about what I had in mind.  We talked for a good hour when I went to the shop, and we discussed size, placement, and design options.  She was incredibly polite, spoke frankly, and told me what I originally had in mind was doable, but it wouldn't have the effect I wanted and over time wouldn't look good.  She told me to take my time and ponder before undergoing something so personal and permanent.  She sent me home with a mock template of the design she created and my forearm marked up with Sharpie pen to get a better sense of how it would look.  I so appreciated that and pondered the decision all the way home. Surprise!  Surprise!  I got my tattoo and I couldn't be more pleased.  The professionalism was commendable, the service was top notch, and the conversation made the time fly by. No pretentiousness here, just straight up artists with years of industry experience who love their craft and have great talents to share with others.  Do check out the website.  There is a ton of good information there.  The site (and Yelp reviews) was instrumental in making the decision to contemplate the shop in the first place and making the final decision to get my tattoo done there. My sister and I talked about getting matching tattoos for years...being she lives in California and I in Pennsylvania it's not too often we can actually do it...I was out visiting her and so we started looking on yelp...I read both the good and bad reviews for all the local places plus their ratings...everything I read about Sea Hag was nothing but good...we called and got an appointment for same day...I sent the picture of what we wanted and he had it ready for us when we got there...the shop was very clean with awsome decore...we so enjoyed our time and our tattoos came out exactly like we wanted and they look AWESOME! Just got a piece done by Eva and am very happy with her work and experience at her shop. She's an extremely talented artist/owner that's been in the business for a while and knows exactly what she's doing. Found this place through Yelp, saw their work through their website, and decided to contact them. Conversed with Eva through email and she was very prompt with her responses and was advised to talk in person to communicate clearly and trade ideas about the piece. So after telling her what I wanted, Eva is straight up in telling you what can and can't work. And I respect that. Nothing worst than an artist that just wants your money and over time your piece will look like shit. She steered me in the right decision by tweaking the piece a bit and two weeks later my appt. was set. What sets this shop aside from others that I've been in around the area, is how professional everyone is here. It's all about business here, which in turn makes both you and the artist happy. No random hooligans hanging out at the shop that don't work there, no pretentious attitudes, no frequent smoke breaks, just talented artists and good conversations. The atmosphere is great here, the shop itself is more artsy than anything, and from the work I've seen, all 3 are great at what they do. I went to Sea Hag Tattoo with my son .  Who had a piece done by Shaun.  We chose this shop based solely based on reviews from yelp.  I was immediately impressed by the cleanliness of the shop as it is imaculatly kept. I then became equally impressed with the overall operations Eva, Shaun and Joe are personable,  engaging, professional and incredibly talented. Shaun did an excellent job on my son's piece.  In the mean time, The vibe was beyond pleasant.   So while waiting  and visiting I couldn't help but notice the art on the walls and the photo albums that there is incredible talent here.     My only other thought is , I can't wait to return for my own tattoos! This is the best tattoo shop I've ever been to hands down. Eva, Joe and Shaun are all super cool and are excellent at what they do. This is a very clean shop and meticulous about tattooing which is really what you want in a tattoo artist. They have a great website and so much information about taking care of your tattoo and the different tattoo's each artist has done. Hubs and I planned to get our tattoo's done at the same time and I went with Eva and Hubs went with Joe. Eva is very good at what she does. She is gentle and I've been to tattoo artists that are very rough with the needle. You will get quality art from her. Joe does amazing tattoos as well. He's very personable and all of them are hilarious and it's definitely a great vibe in the shop. Eva and Joe both accept credit cards but Shaun only accepts cash. I've been getting tattooed by Grizzly Joe for about ten years. When I was 19 he did a slick Where The Wild Things Are half sleeve (which was my first tattoo). He stayed true to the original artwork, paid attention to all the line work details and seemed to really enjoy his job. It's really important to feel comfortable with the person who is going to put something permanent on your body and I always felt good vibes from Joe.I live in Downtown San Diego and am totally willing to make the hour long drive to get work done. The shop itself is great. I feel like I can really trust the taste level of all the artists. When you walk in, each artist has some of their original art and paintings in their work area. The place is clean (which you would expect but can't always count on with other places). The owner is a total character and was entertaining in her own right. Had an awesome experience at Sea Hag Tattoo. The place looked and felt great with a really cool nautical theme. The artists were super nice not like most tattoo places and the prices are actually reasonable. I got quoted twice as much somewhere else for a smaller tattoo with less detail. Britta, my tattoo artist was super cool and my tattoo is amazing! It hasn't even completely healed yet and I'm already getting tons of compliments on it.
