I came into the shop with a clear idea of what I wanted and expected, all I needed was the talent to turn it into a masterpiece. Nina at Devoted Ink did exactly that. From the very beginning Nina took the time to listen to what I wanted and she gave feedback that was supported by experience. Nina went over every detail of her design for my tattoo and made sure I was completely okay with every part of it. When I wanted to make changes, she was very open and thoroughly explained how the changes would affect the overall design. She takes pride in her art and it shows! On top of being extremely talented, Nina is also compassionate and interesting (which is important if you're going to be sitting for multiple hours!). Nina was also gentle and very hygienic. I couldn't be more satisfied with my experience and with my permanent artwork. I definitely feel like the price of my tattoo was reasonable and fair. I will definitely be coming back to see Nina.As far as the shop itself, it has a very cozy and welcoming feel. It is nicely decorated and clean. Would I return if Nina wasn't there? Probably not. I have been tattooed several times at Devoted Ink. I have been happy each time with my pieces, but unfortunately haven't ever been able to get them from the same artists because the artists keep leaving. I haven't ever seen the same faces in there. I recently was stopping by to set an appointment and was parked in the parking lot finishing a phone call. I didn't get out of my car because the owner was verbally tirading one of the employees in front of the shop. It was very disrespectful and inappropriate. I can see maybe why I haven't been able to work with the same artists if this is how they are treated. Have used Devoted Ink many times for my daughters' piercings with Danielle as her piercer and was always happy. Went in recently for some more piercings and all seemed well until we got home. For days after her piercings were red and inflamed, almost to the point of infection. We took all precautions one would do for any piercing, and she already has many piercings so we aren't new to this. We knew something was wrong so we went to a different shop where the piercer told us her ear was pierced completely wrong and then fixed it for us. I scheduled an appointment with Nina and I can say i had the best experience. Her and I clicked immediately and she was willing to do whatever it took to make sure i loved the tattoo!! My third visit was a few days ago for 2 lobe piercings.ALL 3 visits have been consistently great. I wanted to get my nose pierced and while meeting and reading reviews on local shops Danielle had the best.  Also when reading that the shop was devoted to their faith, I knew I wouldn't encounter the bad vibes that sometimes shops can have from whatever shenanigans are going on.  With all that said, I was nervous from the unexpected for a nose piercing and Danielle made me feel very comfortable and was patient with my nervous rambling and questions.  I was nervous for nothing the reviews were right it's so fast and my pain tolerance is much higher than I was giving myself to believe.  It's literally a quick poke and your done! It's a little tender for 24hrs and that's it! Healing is going extremely well due to her expertise! I came across Devoted Ink accidentally from a rather unfavorable experience with another shop.That said, after reviewing yelp and having a consultation I was pleased with the design and decided to move forward with setting up an appointment to get my tattoo. I first met with Rob then because of scheduling conflicts I went forward with getting by John. Not to be taken the wrong way, I'm extremely happy with both Rob and John. They both ensured I was getting exactly what I wanted and delivered on their promises. John is extremely detail oriented and thorough with producing top quality art. In his words, he will not rush any work of his to sacrifice $ over quality and that meant a lot for me. I would absolutely recommend any of the tattoo artists at this shop especially John. This review is for the piercer Danielle. She pierced the wrong part of my wife's ear!On October 23rd, my wife came in to get tattooed by John. She figured that since she was at the shop, she'd get two piercing re-opened. Several months prior (6months?), she had Danielle take them out for a MRI. She said she normally doesn't use client's jewelry, but she'd try. So first she tried the tragus. She got the piercing in, but couldn't screw the top on. So she tried the rook. She said she "saw the hole" and kept pushing the jewelry through, my wife was in so much pain! Danielle's dad was even saying: "Beauty is pain". Danielle said my wife had a lot of scar tissue... So they went ahead a re-pierced both spots.Driving home my wife was cleaning some of the blood off her ears when she noticed that Danielle pierced the wrong part of her ear!!!!!! She pierced her daith! No wonder it didn't go through and why she was in so much pain! She never had her daith pierced! Next day, my wife went to Tracy's in Oceanside. She told her that not only did Danielle pierce the wrong spot, she didn't even re-pierce the tragus in the original hole! And to top it all off, her original holes were still open, they just needed to be stretched. And she was also told that Danielle's jewelry is subpar.I called up John and told him what happened and he said he'd get us in touch with Danielle. She called a few days later, but I wasn't available to pick up the phone. The owner later emailed my wife saying that he would refund us the money and Danielle would apologize to my wife. Danielle responded: "It is unfortunate that we had a misunderstanding of placement of piercings..." How is piercing a spot that had no hole a misunderstanding especially when you're just trying to get your holes reopened? And that's not an apology. You'd think since they pride themselves on being Christian, she could at the very least apologize for her mistakes.Do NOT go to Danielle to get piercings. Go to a real piercing shop like Tracy's. They have trained piercers, and plenty of quality jewelry to chose from.The good part is the shop is super clean, and the staff are  friendly. My artist, John Graefe, was amazing! I can't say enough good things about Devoted Ink. In my opinion, when searching for a great tattoo shop look for these three: excellent artists, cleanliness/hygiene, and LASTLY cost.  Artists: Rob has been my artist working on a half sleeve project of 5 realistic birds (which my wife and daughters all picked out). Since the first day I walked in with the idea he's been patient, kind, and knowledgeable with creative input. He seems personally invested in making my idea become the best tattoo possible NOT simply slapping whatever I say onto my body. Equally important is his lack of ego and pretentiousness, which I've experienced at other shops. Cleanliness/hygiene: from the minute you walk in you can tell this shop operates on a higher, more professional level than some shops. The shop and each station is very clean, organized, and welcoming. It truly is a Christian atmosphere without ever being pushy. The music is always tasteful and appropriate. Lastly, they very clearly are very opposed to any drugs or alcohol. Thank God. It's not wise while getting tattooed (as your impulsive decisions become very permanent) and the last thing I want when getting tattooed is an artist that's drunk or high. Cost: In my opinion cost is the last factor when picking a tattoo shop. But it is of course relevant (I'm by NO means rich). Just remember, you get what you pay for and this will last forever. Five years from now are you going to regret not spending a little extra money on your tattoo? If you can't afford Devoted- wait, save money, and don't settle for anything less than one of the best tattoo shops in southern CA. BOOK WITH NINA!Considering that this was my first tattoo, I was very new to the world of ink and felt very uninformed. I knew one thing and one things only; what I wanted and where. However, I struggled to find an artist who's style and technique matched what I was looking for. That was, until I came across Nina's portfolio. I decided to walk into Devoted Ink and speak to her directly about what I wanted and what she thought of my idea. Within 10 seconds of meeting her I knew she was the artist I'd been searching for! She gave me such insightful comments on the piece I had showed her for reference and immediately assured me she was confident we could craft something remarkable. I booked my appointment that day and returned a couple weeks later for my tattoo. It was then that I was able to see the original piece that Nina had created, and I was floored! It was beyond what I was expecting and I could instantly identify how much time and effort she put into crafting something so unique and fitting to what I had envisioned. Throughout the session, Nina made the experience so fun and personal to the point where I had even forgotten she was in the process of tattooing! She also made a point of showing me the progress throughout the session so I could see the transformation from the second I sat down in the chair to the second I stood up with the finished piece. I could not be more pleased with the way my tattoo turned out and I have made the decision to turn the shoulder piece into a full sleeve. Of course, I've asked Nina to do it exclusively because her talent and work emulate everything I want for the progression of this incredible tattoo. However, mere words do not do her work justice. I got my tragus pierced and I was a tad nervous because I tend to get anxiety and feel uneasy at a new place and/or if I'm having a new experience. Danielle's energy was so calming and she was so sweet, my anxiety immediately disappeared. She was professional and explained the process and aftercare. Her spirit and demeanor were so appreciated ! Made a $100.00 deposit, submitted my tattoo idea, spoke to the artist I chose (still works there) and had everything set up. Then, two days before my appointment, he tells me that I wasn’t able to get what I originally wanted; I could choose between picking another piece/idea or get my deposit back. So, I drove from Camp Pendleton to Temecula to get my deposit back. I reached their parlor and was denied my refund. I contacted my artist, telling him about the situation. He then asked me when my appointment was to which I replied in two days. He immediately says that there is a 48 hour cancellation policy, that my deposit was non-refundable because I was in that 48 hour window. Not once was this mentioned before. I find it odd that all of a sudden, despite our conversations, that there was a convenient cancellation policy that matched the exact time that I had to get my deposit back. I was really looking forward to getting work done at this parlor for reasons such as tattoo quality, high artistic skill, area cleanliness, and religious background. Ultimately, I was $100.00 short, had a Taco Bell taco (or 5) that told my stomach I needed to pull over at the next gas station, and had a heavy traffic ride back home. This was back in 2015, I believe. I’m still $100.00 short and have learned my lesson on eating taco bell on the road. Please don’t let me review make you think twice about approaching this parlor or the artists. They produce quality work and have one of the nicest shops I’ve seen in years. I always pass by Devoted Ink and decided one day to follow them via Instagram. I loved the work and seeing all the different types of tattoos that were being done. I ran into Danielle's page and saw all the piercings she has done and how satisfied everyone looked with their greatness. I decided to get a quote on a nose piercing and go in the following day. Walking in the place felt homie, the environment was clean and just felt nice. I listened as an artist spoke with some potential customers about what they wanted and looking for in their tats. He sounded super friendly and really gave full attention to the couple as they spoke about what they wanted. Danielle came out and she introduced herself and we walked to the back. I admit, I've had tats done and the only piercing I have is my belly button so I was very nervous. But in speaking with Danielle, she was super friendly, charming and very informative about my nose piercing and what to expect during and afterwards. 5 Stars for Danielle! Honestly the best piercer I've had. I've had my nose done, belly button, ears of all places. The only one that's ever healed properly is my belly button which I got done years ago on the east coast and the two ear piercings she's done for me so far, my rook and conchOther piercer I've gone to in Temecula (won't mention, but another popular place) all the piercings she's done for my ears and my nose have all had problems healing, keloids, and hurt too much while she did them. Danielle knows what she's doing and won't let you do too much at once and is concerned with the health of you and the piercing first, and that's top priority whatever you get done. Rob is absolutely amazing at what he does. His attention to detail is unsurpassed. Rob is reliable, on-time, clean, no "potty mouth" and super respectful. The shop is full of the nicest tattooers and piercers I have ever met, and I have been to a ton of shops. I've had a large arm tattoo done by him as well as a correction and touch up of another artists work who moved out of state, and he was great for all of it. Rob will be upfront with you about what he cannot and can do - I appreciate the honesty since tattoos are for life. The shop is great, clean and an easy location to get to - I drive down there from the Redlands area and it only takes an hour and a half. Danielle did my septum piercing and I'm 100% happy with the whole experience. It was my first time having any sort of facial piercing and as you can imagine, my insides where turmoil when I arrived. However, Danielle talked me through the whole thing and made me feel comfortable. She was extremely professional and took her time finding the spot to pierce (SO IMPORTANT). When done right you shouldn't be experiencing any major pain after your septum piercing except when of course, you tug or bump your nose. I had pretty much zero pain after the initial (proper) pierce and insertion of the jewelry. Absolutely recommending anyone I know who wants a piercing to Danielle.-Only one con that stuck with me during the experience was the girl at the front desk (can't remember her name). Devoted ink was so amazing to us. My friend and I went in with thoughts of what we wanted and came out with dream tattoos. My flower didn't have any outline and Haley was so kind to tell me that the ink would fade faster if I didn't get the outline. I will never go here!!!!! I have a tatted Marylyn Monroe dot on my face. I called asking to for a price quote on getting it touched up and whoever answered the phone, was rude. They didn't understand me.Then I called again, asking if I can schedule an appointment for a tattoo. The tattoo I wanted was brown freckles on my face. The person I talked to, told me "oh we don't recommend that because it's a tattoo on your face, and that's more like a cosmetic tattoo."Excuse me, I am paying you guys! I don't recall asking for your opinion... I can go to any tattoo artist and get it done.I've gone here to get my septum piercing. Which came out great. However, customer service is horrible. Went in to Devoted Ink for my very first tattoo after reading all of their great reviews and it definitely didn't disappoint. I called about a walk in and from that first phone call all the way until I left the shop, the staff was nothing but professional and friendly. I got my tattoo done by Jordan, a small cross behind my ear (picture posted) and although it was a very simple tattoo he still cared enough to make sure it looked exactly how I wanted, in the exact placement that I wanted. I went over to devoted ink today and got a small piece done by Chris Phipps. The shop was easy to find and very cool once I was inside. It was clean and everybody I met was very friendly. Chris was very helpful in finalizing the details of my tattoo and has a light hand. I am extremely happy with the outcome and will definitely be back for more. I also spoke with Rob about doing some touch up work and finishing another piece that I have, I would recommend Rob as well.
