Their piercer fucked me up, I don't know how well he is with other piercings but DO NOT get your tongue pierced with him. He didn't use the proper equipment, he used some cheap plastic clamps that you can get in a amazon piercing kit. He put in a much smaller barbell which left zero room for swelling, and my tongue was swelling over the piercing. He also didn't ask about the placement (it's not centered), and he didn't warn me when he was going to pierce me. Once he was done I wanted to ask about aftercare, what special instructions I should follow and he was outside on his phone. I recommend going elsewhere if you want a good piercing. Read Less

I wanted my nose pierced  and yelped where to go.  They had the best ratings on yelp in my area.  I also made a phone call to check prices and ask other pertinent  questions.  All my questions  were  completely answered,  there was no rush in trying to  get me off the phone.  I went there  and first off the place is CLEAN!.. very clean and smelled clean.  The  artist (JD i think)  immediately  addressed  my needs and answered my questions. After a long time researching places on getting a piercing that would help me with my horrible migraines I decided to come here. I walked in and was immediately greeted by everyone and was asked what they could help me with. After I told them I wanted a piercing JD who is the person who specializes in that immediately helped me out. I told him I wanted the Rook for migraines and he asked me how bad my migraines were. I told him that they were very bad to the point I get nauseous and he said if I needed to be in a dark room when I had them? I said yes I do and I get them very often at that point I knew he knew what he was doing so he recommend to get the Daith instead and we doth agreed on it. He then prepared the room were he was going to do the piercing and took me in very quick. JD was very polite and professional he also did not make me feel awkward or scared although I was very nervous mostly about the pain. As he was doing the piercing he was being very gentle and talking to me asking me to take deep breaths. Once he was done he was explaining to me how to take care of it what to use and what to stay away from. He was honestly very helpful and after laying down for minutes after the piercing I felt some pressure relief on my head I was not dizzy or anything it felt nice. Weird review, because I don't know if it's good or bad. Went in for a dermal JD was "the best within 25 miles" according to him. He was super freaking cool I loved him he was funny he was nice the shop is clean everything was amazing. I got my dermal in my chest and then not even eight hours later it fell out. My implanted piercing fell out of my chest. That doesn't happen. I hit him up and he basically was not accommodating at all. He wanted me to repay and said he doesn't know what I did with in that time. He has a deal that if you leave a yelp review you get free piercing. So I told him I would leave a yelp review then he said OK that's fine we could do it that way. I have been dealing with migraines since a very young age. I'm so tired of using western medicine to bandage my pain. I began researching other alternatives and came across tragus piercings. My friend recommend me JD at this shop for the piercing and I don't regret it. He was so informative and I truly felt in good hands after our conversation. It was super easy and barely hurt. I got tattooed by Voodoo here at Kokopelli; on the outside it literally looks like the definition of a street shop. Neon lights, black shades, old english. on the inside the walls were bright red teeming with all types of artwork by each artist, theres a whole bunch of stuff to look at. All the guys are kinda scary looking but they turned out to be pretty cool; I was immediately greeted by Nick (hes the guy with the tatts all over his head idk) and despite his appearance he was very friendly. Voodoo was all set up for my tattoo and was very vocal as far as what she was gonna do and she ran everything step by step, and even opened all the materials in front of me!! with me being a neat freak that was very nice of her to do cuz yeah everyones afraid of dirty needles. she uses all disposable products and is very tidy with the tattoo procedure. A little heavy with the needle but she made the tattoo as bold and bright as it could be i think. I came in here about 2 months ago to get my septum pierced by J.D. He was so nice, SUPER CHILL (that's an understatement), and very helpful. I wasn't uncomfortable at any point. He was very easy to talk to and super funny. Also, what I liked was that he double sterilized. He made sure everything was well prepared. And my piercing came out SO STRAIGHT. I was so stoked by it. He also did mention all the proper ways to clean the piercing and all that helpful stuff bc I did mention that I was afraid of getting a keloid (bc I was keloid prone) and I took his advice and there was no complications with anything. I went in a few days ago because I had some questions/concerns about getting a tragus piercing. I was immediately introduced to JD who was incredibly helpful. One of my main concerns was that my tragus was too small to pierce, but he said that it wasn't, and even if it was, he liked a challenge. My other main concern was the pain level, but JD said it wouldn't hurt any more than another cartilage piercing. I was also concerned about whether the piercing would interfere with using earphones and Q-tips, but I was reassured that it wouldn't be a problem. After all the talk, I decided to get 2 tragus piercings, and I'm so glad I did because they didn't hurt nearly as much as I thought they would. All the equipment was sterile (as it should be). So, I had been thinking about getting my daith piercing for a while since I get frequent migraines. But, I was so nervous about the whole process that I held off for a while. Yesterday, I decided I would put my fear to the side and get it done if it was to help me out in the long run. Before going into the shop I read many many great reviews on JD and his methods, so walking in I already felt at ease. At first the shop was a little sketchy because my husband and I stood there for a few minutes without a welcome or acknowledgement, but once they asked what we were there for and called JD the whole vibe was different. He asked what I wanted and gave me details on the process and how it would help me. It was great because you could tell he was experienced and really cared about your well being, not just giving you a piercing and getting it over with. Once in the piercing room he made the whole thing very chill. Kept conversation with my husband and I and kept me very relaxed making the piercing a breeze. Normally, I wake up with minor headaches that I can tell will become a migraine before the day is over, but today I can honestly say I woke up very relieved with just a bit of pain from the piercing. My friend got a nostril piercing and it looked good, I went to get my septum done and the set up process seemed good, but when the needle went through it was too low. I didn't notice it at first, but later found out it was pierced below the cartilage in the skin area. It was not only done too low, but slanted downward (uneven) and and crooked sideways. It was done by an older (maybe mid 40s) white guy. He did my friends well but was disappointed with this work. My friend also got a tattoo by another man, it was done great! My daughter and I were greeted the second upon entering. The man tattooing asked what we needed and assisted us right away. We were there for a piercing and JD The Piercer  came out to help us. He showed us different pieces of jewelry to choose from. We proceeded into an immaculate clean room. He wore gloves, sterilized the earring and her ear.  And proceeded with the piercing, the whole process was less than 10 minutes. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. I brought my mom here to get her Daith pierced after I read that its supposed to relieve migraines. She had a headache turned migraine for the past 3 weeks and nothing was helping. I went on yelp to search tattoo shops near me and read all the positive reviews It had for their piercer JD, we decided to go and he was really nice and gave us a lot of information and answered any questions we had. My mom says she felt relief as soon as the needle went through, she is pain free after 3 weeks of constant pain. I can see it in her eyes that she feels so much better. It's been about 10 hours since I got it done and I honestly can't believe how crazy it is to be completely migraine free! The pressure that's usually behind my left eye socket = gone! The piercing pain in my left temple = gone! The migraine I woke up with this morning = GONE!!! Now this may not work for everybody BUT this worked for me and I would recommend this piercing to anyone who's done their proper research beforehand. JD you are AMAZING!!! If getting ears pierced please come to this place as they know what they are doing, not like some jewlery store places that the employees blotch the job and you have to do it 3 more times. One of my favorite places to get pierced! The shop is cozy but the people are very professional and welcoming. I haven't been pierced in a couple of years but I remember they always had a female piercer which made getting my more intimate piercings way more comfortable. I've gone during their famous Friday The 13th specials for a quick prick and I did have to wait in line, but it was worth it. They don't pierce you in the front where they tattoo, they take you to a back room for more privacy, which is good. I do wish they had more jewelry choices, but perhaps demand isn't that strong for them. I follow their Instagram account and appreciate how active they are on it for specials and events. Read Less

My tattoo artist was alright, lacks customer service skills. He seemed bothered when I asked if he could do a tattoo, he got the size right and was focused when doing the work. During my experience he pulled on my skin and was rough when he moved the tattoo machine along my skin. I had to tell him it was hurting, it started bleeding a lot. I know it's normal to bleed and for the skin to get red, I didn't expect it to swell up and turn purple, when he was done he didn't offer a touch up just wrapped it and collected my money. I felt like I was an inconvenience. Sadly next day I woke up to an infected tattoo and it's been two weeks and barely healed up but part of my drawing is missing and it has ink gaps everywhere. Waste of money to be honest. Going somewhere else to fix the damage. They don't even ask for your ID or even to fill out the paperwork when getting a tattoo like I did the first time I was there. The guys name is Steven who did my tattoo. I walked in with the intention to get a piercing on my earlobe and the 3 employees were just sitting around, one of them on their phones and rolled her eyes at me. I asked if they were open they ignored my question then a minute later said yeah he'll help you and the other guy proceeded to ask what I wanted. Worst customer service I have ever experienced. The receptionist has the worst attitude and she clicked on me over the phone. I called for a walk in and she told me they were open. I arrived only to be told they can't tattoo me. When I asked her why she didn't tell me this over the phone when I called, she told me "I've been here all day & no one has called". Went there for the Friday the 13th special to get my helix pierced. The piercer was such a friendly lady despite the fact she's been working long hours, especially that day. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and answered any questions I had to the best of their abilities. That I appreciated. If I had one wish for them, however, I wish that they would specify what you need to bring to the counter. Granted, the process for a tattoo or a piercing is a waiver, photo ID, and a form of payment. The person who was calling names on the wait list, however, didn't specify that on that day the shop only took cash, so there was a lot of delays because people had to run to an ATM. This is South Gates first ever tattoo and piercing shop. They do excellent and quality work. My brother and I were visiting from out of town...While my brother went to the smoke shop next door I walked in to see if I could get a tattoo.There was one guy working, and I asked if he took walk ins. He kindly replied that he did, but he wouldn't be able to take walk ins until about 5. He asked me what I wanted, and I showed him "In color? Oh that would be really cool" he replied. But again he said he wouldn't be able to do it until about 5. Unfortunately for me, I have to leave before then.Although I didn't get anything done, I give this place 5 stars because the guy who greeted me was very friendly. And I'm sure if I were to go back he'd give me a good experience.I hope I can come back one day. Read Less

Friendly and great people here! Came here to get a "Friday the 13th" tattoo and was happy to find out that their options also included non 13 style tattoos as well. Having already an LA kings crown on my wrist, I decided to get a really nice cursive type "LA" on my wrist next to my current tattoo. My artist was Nick. @nicknacksty on Instagram. He was cool and patient about me trying to figure out the placement of my tattoo. Had a steady hand and the lines came out really clean! While I was waiting to be called, I noticed this shop has a shop pet, this cute orange looking snake. went last week to get an industrial... walked away with the cutest piercing on my ear flap haha. Stephanie said industrial wouldnt be possible because my ear was too thin it might rip...uhhh no thanks.
