My daughter has had several tattoos done at Revolt by Riq and Nomi .. they both do awesome work so when my son kept talking about getting a tattoo I knew what I was going to give him for his birthday. I surprised him by telling him we we driving to get his present, he was confused until we pulled up in front of Revolt. He knew exactly where we were and got a big grin on his face. We met with Nomi and he explained what he envisioned, a vintage baseball girl, and she was able to draw exactly what he wanted. Last week he got his first tattoo and is so excited to show it off. Nomi did excellent work. She gave me a REALLY excellent price and I have purchased one of her designs. I had wanted to alter it to fit it more to my life and personality as I wanted it to be very personal, she gave me a final altered design and I could have never asked for better. For my entire life I said, "I'm getting my first tattoo when I'm 45!"  Well, I'm almost 46. I kind of knew what I wanted. I had a concept and about a hundred pictures and certain words. It was very a sentimental gesture to memorialize my beloved dad. A story I wanted to tell but could never get through three words without crying. So I wanted to say it with my tattoo. I went to all the tattoo artists in Simi, almost interviewing. I know it sounds weird, but I needed to connect with the artist. Not find someone who just wants s picture to copy or some jerk off who couldn't care less. So, how did I decide on what to permanently put on my body in an extremely painful way?  I took my specific concept, hundred pictures and certain phrase to GAVIN at Revolt. He listened to my story, took my pictures, concept and phrase and by the following week, combined EVERYTHING into a beautiful picture that made me cry. Ok. Pictures done. Now what??  Oh!  That's right. Took a bottle of Jack Daniels with me and laid down. It actually wasn't nearly as bad as I thought. Almost... enjoyable, therapeutic, exciting. Came here to get my first tattoo with my girlfriend in tow about a month ago. Tattoo looks great aside from a few wiggles (I jumped from the pain of it on my collarbone since I'm a big wuss) but those were not his fault. I got a tattoo 15 years ago, and hated it ever since. I'd wanted to get it covered up for years, but I was reluctant to do it, because I didn't want another tattoo that I regretted right after.When I finally decided to get it covered up, I started looking around for the tattoo artist I wanted to do it. Not that I'm snobby, but I just felt I had to click with the artist. The search went on for a few years. I meet several artists, but never found the one I wanted to draw on my skin with a tattoo gun.Then one day I saw a friend's photo on a social media site. He had a ridiculous tribal arm band tattoo covered up by Riq, and the end result was amazing!!The next week I came in to see Riq at his shop and decided on the spot that I wanted him to do my cover-up. I scheduled for the next day for the work to be done. On the day of my appointment I rolled in and he had a design he thought would look really good, and I pretty much let him do what we thought would look best. He did a free hand drawing where the tattoo was going to go, he had me look at it and he proceeded to put it on my skin.I wish I could write that it was a pain free experience, but I would be lying. Getting a tattoo does hurt, but Riq seemed to move around to different areas often to as if he was giving each area a rest. At least that's what it felt like to me. When he was all done and I looked at his work, I knew I had made the right choice by going to him. It looked amazing, and I was very happy with it!!I would highly recommend anyone looking to get a tattoo to come to Revolt and see Riq. I was referred to Nomi from a co worker of mine for tattoo. I got her number and set up a time with her. She's was really nice and helpful. I told her I wanted a sugar skull on my arm and brought in a design to work with. She made the design and had it all ready to go when I got there. She did an excellent job and after a year later I get nothing but compliments from strangers checking out my tattoo. The guys working there were all kind and professional. It's a great shop. I was referred to Riq through a couple of my clients after my endless search for an awesome tattoo artist in the area ..  I had seen Riq's work on them before I decided to go see him and was very impressed with what I saw.  Once I got to meet Riq there was no question that my search was over.  The time that Riq takes to truly listen to what I want and talk about placement and color options etc is always so refreshing compared to other artists I've encountered that are quick to do whatever they want and not really hear what YOU want. When your getting tattooed by Riq you can see his passion as an artist and I've never felt more comfortable with a tattoo artist ever (i have 5 other tattoos I have from previous artists) than I do with him. I've had 4 tattoos done previously by him and I'm currently working on a sleeve tattoo with Riq and I couldn't be happier with how it's coming out. Just got my 6th tattoo here (first time at this shop) and I can confidently say this is the best experience yet.Darren was the artist that worked with me and he was very professional, helpful, patient and kind. What made me feel most at ease and comfortable was when he said he would redo the stencil as many times as it was needed for me to feel 100% satisfied before he tattooed. He did an incredible job, lines are perfect, straight and very clean. He also gave really great advice on placement which was very helpful.I highly recommend this shop and Darren. I'm so glad my friend referred me to bloodlust. After work one day i got the biggest urge to get a tattoo that i've been wanting for a while. I spoke to Darren, one of the artists, and described to him what i was wanting. Other shops i had been talking to told me what i wanted would cost me about $100 even though every last one of them told me that it wouldnt take long at all to do. Darren told me he would do it for $75 and then informed me that they closed at 7:30pm that night so i rushed over as fast as i could because it was already 6:45 pm. When I arrived I was instantly greeted with a big smile and i could tell he was excited to get started. Its so refreshing to see someone who loves what they do as much as he did. I showed him a picture of what i wanted, with minor changes, and we got started. After the stencil, setting up the machines, and everything to artists do to get set up, he only took about 30 minutes to do my tattoo and made sure that i was absolutely in love before I left the store. And let me say Darren, i LOVVEEEEEE it. Bigger stores normally are busy and somewhat short with their customers. I have never had such amazing quality of customer service. I'm truly lucky to have been referred to Riq. I'm lucky to know people who knew him. I finally decided to get a tattoo (my first) which I was planning for over 8 years. It required incredibly straight lines and precision work. I came in his new shop to check out his catalogue and was very impressed with his work, including his straight lines which my tattoo heavily relied on.  His newly opened shop is well equipped and all supplies including needles are brand new and disposable. I manage a dental office so I can tell that the environment and the supplies were clean and sterile. Riq does amazing freehand work, but here I was asking him to do a very specific, very technical image with lots of straight lines. "No problem" he said! I emailed him the image, told him the maximum dimensions and scheduled an appointment in 3 weeks. When I came in, we made some slight modifications to the image right there on his shop computer. He printed the image, traced it and transferred the image to my shoulder. I had a different placement in mind, but boy am I glad I trusted him entirely with the placement of the tattoo.  Just 45 minutes later, I was done. His hand is THAT steady and he is THAT good. It could not have turned out better. He is one of the most professional people I've ever dealt with and a really nice guy to boot. I'm truly grateful for his amazing work and I'm already getting used to being complimented on just how nice my tattoo is.
