I don't hate my tattoo but I'm not 100% happy with it and I'm not sure if I want to go back and have it re-done because I would want a different artist and I don't even know if that's a possibility. I decided at age 68 to get my first tattoo so naturally I had some anxiety, and this was all dispersed by Gil as he explained the whole process to me.  I went ahead and got my first one ( right shoulder-arm) and I must say after 4 days I have only pleasant memories and hardly any after effects. It took an hour and a half to complete, and since then I have cleaned and applied lotions as instructed, and it looks good and I have had no itching or pain at all.  Gil made a stencil of my desired tattoo and then went about applying it with his artistic skills and I cannot be happier with the results. I came in today and asked which gem hed recommemnd for my stud and he didn't even take the time to get up and help and nor did who ever else was there. I find it very unprofessional when you work somewhere and don't have a damn clue about what you sell. All he could say was " whatevers there is what we have" yet that wasnt answering my question. To the owner, please educate your employees. If they only do tattoos they should still know things about jewlery or piercings. Since they do work there. I got my septum pierced here about 2 years ago. During the actual piercing, she did it completely crooked and had to redo it. Painful as hell. I also got my tragus pierced here, but have since retired it. She did it so agonizingly slow that I almost started crying. Because of a tragus! Also, the stud she put in had a ball almost the same size as the bar, so it kept almost coming out over the next couple weeks without taking the backing off. Overall, she has not come across at all as friendly or said/done anything to relax me, which is important to me if I know you're about to cause me pain. Went in for a simple lineart of a chrysanthemum, but Charlie was super nice and gave me $20 off for Friday the 13th. He then offered to add color for an extra $30, and I couldn't resist. After losing my closest friend I spoke to gil and said I wanted a portrait of my friend over my heart, while speaking to him I was upset and crying but gil was very patient. Gil not only agreed to do the artwork he came in on his day off to start the work. It took 2 sessions to complete and one follow up for some touch ups. I lost a close friend and called and spoke to gil. He compassionate and not b only agreed to do the artwork he came in on his off to do it. He put up with my crying and really offered compassion for my loss. Right now the artwork is in its outline stage but I will be seeing gil in a week for the shading. My friend is now next to my heart and will be there for the rest of my life. Update: since I got the tattoo I have been able to deal with my friends death better. It all started when I wanted a nose piercing. I had asked the woman for a hoop piercing.I remember the pain was horrible. I could not even yawn without feeling like my nose was going to rip in half because the hoop she had put in my nose was so thick. I called the lady the next day and wanted to change the piercing but I was quickly denied. Very rudely in fact. She said she had been piercing for years but who would put a gaged hoop in someones nose?I went to a different tattoo shop in Moorpark where someone else has switched it for a simple stud.. I was bleeding everywhere.A few days later I noticed the hole was not getting smaller so I decided to take out the entire piercing. I still have a very noticeable scar.Rough experience. No sympathy. To everyone who is hesitant about a shop, the sanitation, the detail, or the affordability, this is your place. They do amazing work that is quick and painless. I walked in extremely nervous and was under the needle for about a minute before I hyperventilated and passed out. There was no pain though, I was just nervous. They sat me up had me eat pizza, drink coke and gave me some gum and I was fine for the rest of the hour. I'm the first one to admit my pain tolerance is low and I'm going back again to get my tattoo colored. Do not let the location or the preconceived notation of tattoos fool you, Charlie's House of Tattoos is a 6 out of 5 rating in staff, quality AND price. So I gotta Say.. I had a Great Experience  here  a few years ago..I walked in with a Design an Idea and I was Lucky to have Charlie Himself work on my back Piece that was 4 hours long. He was Nice, His Family was there..they were all Cool people and  For being Tenderized for 4 hours by choice :)  it was a Cool Experience. I love my Wings and I have had Several people ask where i got them Done. I always tell them. Josh did the huge piece on my ribs and I couldn't be happier. He was totally professional and touched up my first tattoo for free. In addition to telling me if I wanted touch ups I was welcome to come back anytime. He was so nice and did an excellent job. Exactly what I wanted. I think I've found my favorite tattoo parlor.He completely worked with my price range as well. Touch up on my first tattoo + full rib tattoo = $130 out the door. I tipped him as well.Four stars because I just wish it was a little more private than me laying on my side getting tattooed in an open room. Still amazing work though. Read Less
