I've gone here two separate times to get tattoos and I love them! Everyone's so friendly there! My only complaint is the tattoo artist I have gone to never answers his phone and it's nearly impossible to get ahold of him unless you call the shop. I've sent him messages to try to get rough estimates, show him what I was wanting, and no response. I called the shop before I went in to get my most recent one and he answered and I was able to set up an appointment then which wasn't a big deal. I do think if you have your number on your card and it says you may text them they should respond in a decent time, or when you're sent a direct message on Instagram, on the artists own account about his art, you don't ignore them. I have asked a friend who's been tattooed by the same artist and she told me the same thing happened to her, so I'm not the only one he's not responding to. Read Less

Stopped in here yesterday without a appt and Kelly greeted me and had me look at a book for different ideas on getting a dermel. I got my ear pierced there about a week ago. The guy who did it was nice and all, only there was a miscommunication between what I wanted what he thought I wanted and it was expressed before the piercing but I was super go with the flow and told him just to do what ever was marked. It wasn't the piercing I asked for but I mean in the end it wasn't a huge deal because now I can just get the one I wanted on the other ear. The well-inked dude in otherwise empty place made me feel very unwelcome and like he needed me to leave so he could get back to watching YouTube. He practically FREAKED OUT when i touched my nose stud to pull it out to show him the end of it, where the ball and twist i put in it keep it in. Walked in with my friends a few months ago and ended up laying down on the table for my first tattoo! Billy did my tattoo and I could not be happier with it. Since I was a walk-in I kind of ate up a little time of the appointment after me (which I felt awful about) and everyone was extremely chill about it. Billy was great about making me feel relaxed and allowed my friends to keep me company - even played some sick music and started up a conversation. This Review is for the absolutely incredible work Aaron G did on my chest. I have about 15 hours of work done on my leg by other artists but have not been tattooed for a few years and was stoked and inspired by some of his work that I have seen on friends of mine and his Instagram page. He had something drawn up for me when I arrived for my appointment, and it was exactly what I had asked for, but modified so that it would fit the area I had requested. Perfect. I have had some bad luck with tattoo artists in the past who consider things like cigarette breaks and chats with their buddies in the shop as part of the hour you are paying for, but not Aaron. Aaron was a machine, going for as long as I was willing to go. Not once did he stop for any reason other that myself asking for a quick break. He finished my piece in one setting and even left me options for possible additions and gave me some different sleeve ideas. I had the biggest smile on my face the rest of the day because of the tattoo and ease of experience. Today I went in to get a cartilage piercing done. I've had my rook and tragus done at a different place, but The Hole Thing was recommended by a friend so I gave it a shot..First of all, the piercer didn't sterilize the area she was about to pierce, she did not wear gloves, and after the piercing she did not clean it. She also never went over the cleaning instructions, she just handed me the paper and sent me on my way. Never going there again, it made me feel so at risk to get an infection since she handled it so unprofessionally.  Those steps she missed have always been done at any other place I've attended or at least been to when I go with friends for their piercings. DONT GO HERE! I went in to have a dermal near my eye removed and the woman yanked it out of my face leaving a gash with a flap of flesh hanging off! Although the staff was friendly, there was another client after me so they ended up not giving me full instructions on what to do with the piercing. They simply handed me a paper, which did not have crystal-clear instructions. A demonstration on what to do would be key, as it was my first time having a piercing. What happened was, I took off the piercing to clean it. Yes, this might seem obvious to someone who has had one before--not my case though. All I could see was blood up to a point of almost fainting. Got a dermal removed off my cheek bone/eye and it took faster than a second and was painless. Getting the dermal hurt worse than taking it out. But I got it done at a different place. The owner Kelly took it out and had great customer service, super friendly. There is no scar either! I got it taken out about a year and a half ago. And she was very sanitary. Read Less

Amazing, me and my mom went in to get her nose pierced, Kelly was super sweet to my mom, my mom isn't one to be good with pain, but Kelly eased her so good, I had pierced my nose myself the day before and I had this huge ear stud in my nose, and Kelly  gladly offered and put a nose stud in my nose as well. After several tats and piercings this is the best place ever. I originally met kelly in cotati at her old shop. She did my nipple piercing. This was years ago. After an operation i had to remove them and they just kind of got weird. I came back today to get them redone ( rather than do tapers)by the most  frickin awesomest gal/ piercer/ shop owner, ever, kelly. Twice now ive used her. Shes fabulous. Ive never felt so easy about having my boobs in someones face. She fast as hell. Clean and totally gentle. My 20 yr old daughter was with me and decided to  go for her first tat. Aaron...dude. My experience at The Hole Thing was awesome. I went in with a vague idea and the artist Luis transformed it into a beautiful piece. I wanted stars, flowers, with shading and to somehow incorporate my old tattoo into the new one. He did just that and made sure each detail was perfect. I came from out of town on business and noticed that Santa Rosa has a great tattooing culture. I went to a couple of shops that had of course the highest reviews, but unfortunately wasn't able to find what I was looking for. I then walked into 'The Hole Thing' and immediately the owner pointed me in the direction of a so-called black and grey specialist. I have a full sleeve on my left arm, black and grey, that was done in Sacramento that I am very happy with. The only issue was at the very end, the guy rushed it and didn't close it out exactly how I wanted it. So I was looking to get a small cover up job done on the top of my shoulder. Anyways, Alexis (the black and grey guy) came over and started talking with me about what I was looking to get done. He then showed me his work on his iPad, and let me tell you, the guy gets down. So I went ahead and took a shot. The kid is legit folks. but here is the best part, like I said, I have a full arm sleeve that took about 35 hours to complete and cost $150 an hour. You guys can do the math, as you can see that bad boy was not cheap. Well Alexis only charged me a $20 deposit, he then drew up the stencil and made sure I was happy with it before moving forward, charged me $200 to do the work because he charges by the piece, and took four and a half hours making sure it was perfect. That is customer service, and let me tell you the kid is going to be something special. He is 20 years old people. How many folks judge a person by how long they have been in the business? Some people are just naturally talented. This kid is going to be something special. Anyways I don't usually write reviews but I thought he was worth putting out there. You can go the expensive route with the well known tattoo artist or give it a shot and see what he can do. You will be pleasantly surprised. Thanks for reading... I had Kelley (the owner) change out an ear piece for me from a 16 to a 12 gage. She was very professional and friendly. She thought it might hurt and put in a spacer but since I'd had the piercing for 10+ years it went in super fast and easy. She even knocked off $10 from the price posted. Seems like good people and nice attitudes. Have heard good recommendations from friends who've had subdermals done with her specifically.
