This place is amazing! They completely sterilize the part you're getting pierced, show you your sterilized jewelry. Then, Adam crushed my faux rook and 2 helix piercings. The placement was perfect. He even made sure that the faux rook placement wouldn't interfere with my sunglasses. The attention to detail her was the best I've ever had. I am so glad I drove 2+ hours to get pierced here. I tried going to a different parlor to get my septum pierced, and they kept pushing me off trying to tell me to come back tomorrow with out saying it. So my friend told me about the amory and we headed over there. As soon as we walked in the door Shelby and Adam greeted me so warmly. I explained what I wanted done, and they were on it. They sanitized the needles and showed me the test strip. They have an amazing customer service. I have gone in twice to have my septum looked at because I mess with it a lot and each time they have helped me a lot and given me great advice on what I need to do with it. My mom and I went to Amory for her birthday to get our noses pierced together and had the most incredible experience with Shelby. I've gotten quite a few different piercings from several different studios and had never received such incredible care as Shelby provided. My daughter and I came to this shop almost by accident and we were wonderfully surprised! I've been wanting to get my nose pierced for years and decided to go for my daughter and my birthdays while we were having a fun girls weekend in Capitola. I don't think I could be more obsessed with this place, or I would try to get a professional license and work here. Seriously. It is incredible. It has the feel of a spa, with succulents and art, but without being even a little intimidating or froo-froo, and JUST clinical enough to make you feel super comfortable in knowing your piercing will be 100% sterile and professional.She was, first of all, EXTREMELY up-front, and realistic, most importantly, about the piercings I wanted done and was in no way just there to sell me anything. I had so many questions and she patiently answered them all and didn't sugarcoat a thing, which I really appreciate.They even have a special kit that they require you to initial beforehand so you KNOW everything has been properly and completely sterilized.And Shelby couldn't be a more perfect person to have administering any and all of your piercing desires. She is very intelligent, which made for amazing conversation even after the piercing- my sister and I ended up leaving almost 45 minutes after I was pierced just because we were having such an inspiring conversation with her, and I only stopped it so she could go home and enjoy her evening. My 9-year-old decided that she was finally ready to have her ears pierced. I had a bad experience with ear piercing guns when I was her age, so we looked for a body piercing shop to have her ears pierced the right way.Shelby was amazing - she patiently explained every little step to my daughter, who was quietly freaking out. The whole experience took a lot longer than if Shelby were piercing an adult's ears, but we never felt rushed or pressured to proceed.The shop is like a high end jewelry store with a great selection of first earrings. True, the overall cost was more than, say, Claire's. However, in my mind, this is the better way to go. Longer earring posts to accommodate for swelling, better quality earrings = less trauma overall to the earlobes and 1 happy kid. My daughter is in love with her new earrings and we are so relieved to have found a place that offered such a great experience. We are lucky to have such a quality piercing shop in Santa Cruz!If you go, call ahead or bring your child to get acquainted with the shop and look at the jewelry.
