I've had nothing but wonderful experiences with this business. All of my 4 tattoos are from their amazing artists here. I was never planning on having any work done, however, monumental moments kept sneaking up in life, those sort of transitional life changes moments that you aren't issued a diploma for, there is no pat on the back for turning those lemons into a vodka lemonade...so, I decided in 2009, that I would commemorate my own personal feats with a tattoo. Accompanied by my younger sister, now deceased, we went in for matching sister tattoos on the back of our neck. The last one I had done was in 2015, my now husbands last name in Japanese Kanji. Every transaction was professional, clean and I relatively painless. Angel wings, circa 2013 hurt a bit, that is only because they are on my wrists and large. First off, I hardly ever post reviews but I have to share my experience at Slanging Ink. About 5-6 months ago the owner tattooed my first tattoo, a Phoenix on my ribcage. He was calm, diligent and understanding of what I wanted. It came out beautiful and cleanOn Friday I received my third tattoo, a red hot chili peppers lyric by Brenno at Slanging ink. Brenno gave some of the best customer service I've had in my life. He took around 90 minutes to prepare my image stencil exactly; the ideal size in proportion to my body, the placement of the birds, and was determined to find the exact Navy blue I invisioned for the birds. He didn't half-ass anything during the preparation or just grab any navy blue. He researched birds online to find the most simple one (I wanted simple). He made my vision come to my life. The actual ink only took 24 minutes because he is quick. He was warm and had a great personality. I will specifically go back to Brenno for any future tattooing. Do not go here.This tattoo shop is sketchy as hell. My friends and I went inside because I wanted a nose piercing while my friend wanted to get his ears pierced. First, I wasn't carded by the guy who greeted us. I didn't have my driver's license on me but I had my college school ID. I asked if this was valid because college students are usually 18+. The guy only asked me for my age, to which I responded 20, and he said that was fine. Second, my friend and I didn't even sign waivers even though the guy said we were going to. So now the shop isn't even liable. Third, the guy said piercings are usually $45 but $40 if we will get more than one. With this deal, now I definitely thought of getting my nose pierced. My guy friend went first and got his ears pierced without ease. After he was done, my friend paid him $40 in cash. The guy who pierced his ears said that he actually meant $40 PER PIERCING which meant my friend's ear piercings should've costed $80 TOTAL. He said it was fine and he should've been clearer with that, but who has ever paid $80 for ear piercings?!Fourth, the tattoo shop is all cash only. I know this is a minor inconvenience, but it was sketchy as hell. We had to go to an ATM across the street. What kind of place doesn't accept card?!Fifth, I told the guy from the very start that I eventually wanted a hoop for my nose piercing after the stud healed. He even readjusted it to "make room" for a hoop. My two female friends, both of whom have nose piercings, said that my nose piercing is definitely too high for a hoop. If I were to get a hoop, it would probably have to be huge for it to reach.Sixth, I asked how long it would take to heal because I repeated that I wanted to eventually replace it with a hoop. The guy said 2-3 weeks and offered to print out a timetable of how long each body piercing takes to heal. He printed out the list at the end of the entire session and it said that nose piercings take 2-3 MONTHS to heal. The guy was really off!!!Overall, I'm definitely not satisfied with the service here. I won't doubt that the guy was friendly, but my experience overall was definitely unprofessional. He was wearing flip flops for God's sake. Comes with a lot of experience and won't tattoo you unless u know what u want. Great place to get your first or latest tattoo! He takes care of his customers and is not expensive compared to a lot of the places in the 805. Great place check it out! Read Less

We went in super last minute, we were in town for just a few days and my cousin, sister, and I wanted matching tats. They had us come in and gave us a good deal. We tried to get the same thing done at Golden Eagle and they wanted to charge us twice the price for the same tattoo. Don't fall for the main street glamour of tattoo shops when there's great places like this that can get what you want done fairly. I would definitely go back if I wanted something simple in Santa Barbara again. Thanks guys! Read Less
