I contacted Andrew via email after seeing his amazing work on Instagram and here.  He responded that day and we scheduled a time to come in for a consult. When I came in for the consult, he drew some basic guides on my arm for a half-sleeve tattoo and estimated the cost. We then scheduled the first of two sessions and paid the deposit to reserve time on his packed schedule. When I arrived for the first session, he was there and setting up his area. he then started to draw some of the guides for the ideas that were in his head.  We looked at it together and decided that we will proceed with  the idea.  He then started to start his process.  We sat for hours getting the outline finished and I am very happy to say: it is awesome.  We have scheduled session two (shading) in a couple of weeks.  If you want Polynesian work, he is the only person on the West Coast to do it above expectations. Andrew is an amazing tattoo artist and owner of this business. He is friendly, professional, and extremely skillful. I am really concerned about the care that is taken into putting art on my body and I wouldn't trust anyone else but Andrew to do it. He has really honed into the skill of perfect and precise lines. I had a forearm sleeve done while in Maui a couple of years ago and was really happy and wanted to do a full sleeve and chest piece in the Polynesian style to compliment the forearm piece. a year ago Andrew did the upper arm for me and it was absolutely fantastic, and i was just as pleased with the chest piece that i just finished. I currently am almost finished with full pant leg tattoos from my hips to ankles. A ton of work all freehand and with line work that is always consistent and of the best quality I have ever seen. Andrew is the man. Extremely professional, thorough, patient, detailed, and an incredible artist. I was looking for some Hawaiian marks, very few people outside of the islands can understand without a lot of explanation, but at first mention - he knew his stuff and off we went. If you are looking for Hawaiian or Polynesian marks in the Bay Area, this is the man you need to see. Beyond design, he understands the meaning behind all of it. The line work was incredible, especially considering I had a very hard position for him to tattoo from on the hands He listens to exactly what you want, and can adjust to make sure you are totally happy before the work begins, down to the finest details. We texted back and forth - I was able to send my artist, Sergio, the design I wanted, and he told me he would be able to take me the next day! I arrived and he was so friendly! Andrew does amazing work! I finally got my back piece finished and I am completely in awe of how it came out! When I first came in to talk to Andrew about what I wanted he was very personable and listen to what details I wanted in my tattoo. When I told him that I wanted a specific flower and showed him what it look like he came back and showed me a beautiful drawing of a peony. I had a tattoo that was done by another artist that I really wasn't happy about,  I went to Andrew and asked him if he could go over my tatt and add a few more designs of his own to it and what I got was way more than I expected. He definitely made my tattoo POP even more and added some of his designs to it that I loved. If youre looking for the best poly/tribal tattoo artist that charges reasonably, Andrew is your guy! All of his designs and work are hella sick! He doesnt have heavy hands so the pain is very minimal too! Andrew is always willing to work with your schedule just be straight to the point with him. Tell him what you want and he'll tell you what he thinks about it with his own twists. You just have to trust him because HE KNOWS WHAT HE IS DOING. Let him know if you want any specific designs so he can do it for you and add some artistic designs to make it look really nice! He doesnt rush his work and he really goes into details. I met Andrew 2 years ago when he still worked for 4zero8 tattoo. Monk was supposed to show up for my appointment but didnt show up. My friend and I were the only ones at the shop, so Andrew was the first person who rolled up and took Monk's place in doing my tattoo. I explained to him my super simple piece, which were just two chinese characters. Since it was my first tattoo, he was very patient and explained everything that he was doing before he finally put the ink into my skin. While the tattoo was being done, Andrew conversed with my friend Xiau Ling and I about different stories of people who have gotten their tattoos done here. I could tell that he was a very mellow , kind and relaxed guy who loves his work. When we were done (i think it took about half hour), he explained thoroughly what i should do to keep it clean and have it heal correctly. He told me to come by again if i needed any touchups and he'll do it for free! (:.....two years later, i finally got my touchup and he still remembers me and obliged to my free touchup! amazed. He did a great touch up and now it looks brand new! Since he moved to a new place, i was surprised since i thought he still worked for 4zero8. i'm glad he got his own practice. His tattoo room is very clean and sterile. He specializes in tribal tattoos now so there are a lot of different paintings (canvas and others) hung on the wall, which he lets customers take home. He's super knowledgeable regarding any tattoo that would look anything like a tribal piece. I'm gong back for the 3rd tattoo (a lion) on my back soon and he gave me advice on making the size a little bigger because the detailed lines might start to blur or come together if they're too close!
