My first tat ever, met Jerry a week b4 the appointment, he is super nice, and discussed the design and the result came out super great as I expected, and also provide free check and touch up if it's needed after 2 weeks. Viet was the artist to my first ever tattoo and I couldn't have been more pleased and honored for this occurrence. I had done a shit ton of research on who would be the artist to go too in the bay area. I stalked and followed all the instagrams to get a feel of what the artist as capable of and Viet's stuck out!My goal on my tattoo was something different and new that no one usually does. I met up with Viet to discuss the design and concept which was Watercolor + Trash Polka.He has done plenty of watercolor tats in the past and that was my main reason I wanted to Viet to do my work as he has experience on them - given his social media posts. The initial consultation wasn't long. We discussed what I wanted, where I wanted and the cost. He was a great listener and his mind was imaginative as hell! He knew what I wanted even more than me! His sketch and mock-up was one of the best I've seen! Day of my appointment, he was very communicative - as he was running a bit late - no worries. He communicated and that's all that matters. He is SUPER clean in his station and work, and the studio itself was spotless in the tattoo area - which is a huge plus!His professionalism, cleanness and creative mind really made a difference in my first experience and I couldn't have asked for a better artist! Viet is amazing. I knew I wanted a sweet little note my dad wrote me, but I was kind of nervous to ask just anyone since it's written in messy (but cool looking IMO) Korean. I wanted the artist to maintain the integrity of it. I messaged Viet and he was so nice about me rescheduling due to work, and fixing the smallest of details to my liking. The whole time he helped me out, he was super sweet and understanding. Haven't spent enough time around him, but he seemed super humble as well. The actual tattooing went by fast and painless, actually wanted to take a little longer so I can keep watching Netflix he has set up in the room hahaha. So glad I could get it before I move! I have been looking for an Artist for the longest time. This guy is so underrated and I can’t believe he is not already blown up. I’m confident in time he gonna be booked out years I saw that Viets work was exactly what I wanted to finish my sleeve. Viet was very professional and understanding for what I wanted and gave me his professional advice. I have had one session so Far and the guy will stay until his works get done and takes his time. When it comes down to it he brings in the comfort and family atmosphere to the process. You won't feel like just another client to make money. I suggest to anyone come check out this guy. Honest family man that has great artwork and willing to listen to your vision. Overall a Tattoo is very serious and you want someone that takes his craftsmanship to the highest level If I could give 10 Stars I would. Tips. Viet is freakin' amazing. I was really nervous because it was my first tattoo that had to be sketched, and I was really afraid that it wasn't going to be what I had in mind. My favorite tattoo artist resides here!! A couple of years ago, after weeks of research, I narrowed my choice of shops down to Illusions Cal. After my first meeting with Viet and seeing his work (in personalized books he had made and on his apprentices) I was sold. He started me off with a full head/cap tattoo. Then he has just completed (last night in fact) w/ a half calf piece. Parking is designated so even though the shop in close to the heart of San Jose you shouldn't run into a problem with the finding a spot. The shop is upstairs and the stairwell offers a nice introduction on your way up to the shop. The atmosphere is professional, as is he - bar none - Prices here are very reasonable - especially for the skin art you walk away with. I would recommend anyone looking to get ink to check out Illusions Cal Tattoo shop - (the last person I recommended is in the process of getting a chest piece from him right now. I 'Almost' like hers better than mine.) Definitely & Rightfully has earned a five star rating --> all around. Read Less

Worst experience ever and I never even made it through the front door. Some "tough guy" working there almost attempted to beat me up for parking my car under 10 min in one of their 3 parking spots. When I pulled out my phone to confirm how long it had been exactly this "tough guy" was ready to kick my ass. He didn't like to be told that he's wrong about the timing when I'm apparently wrong about parking. So tow my car, talk to me, don't threaten me "you wanna go cuz?". If I had been considering of getting a tattoo there in the past I will definitely go somewhere else. Worst customer (or potential customer) service, never want to deal with them ever...unless it's that douche apologizing to me or the cops get involved cuz "tough guy" wants to show how "nice" he really is.
