It's funny how when you have a bad or negative experience,  you hit up your Yelp app with wicked speed to declare to the entire world how horrible the food or customer service was. But when you have one of the best human experiences or connections with a Yelp business,  you take your sweet time posting. Sadly, this was exactly that. This post should've been up and running the same weekend my tattoo healed. I'm sorry Nick! Just lost my job,  came up from San Diego to San Jose to visit family.... what better to commemorate losing your only source of income? Going and getting tattooed with your older sister. Lol plus she said she'd pay for whatever amount if I came up short on cash. SCORE.Spent some time on Yelp checking out nearby parlors and reading reviews. Sent out the mass message from Yelp to several businesses in the SJ area. Nick was the first person to reply and obtain a day and time that was convenient for us. Walked into his modest sized shop knowing exactly what we wanted, he put me at ease by drawing up what I wanted on his iPad...he talked a great deal about his family,  which I liked...and in the end I walked out with a handful of awesome tattoos and a big smile. I had come in for my first tattoo on my 18th birthday and would have not chosen anywhere else to go! I had been in contact with nick and he assured me that I would be well taken care of. Upon my arrival I had met David who was my artist and he was very comforting in making sure that I liked the placement of the tattoos as well as the drawings of them. Nick is the man! I am head over heels in love with my new tattoo. If you have a vision or a dream,  nick is definitely the one with a plan. He's professional and great at what he does! I had an old tattoo running up and down my leg that has been unfinished for years, I decided to start looking for a new artist to get this tattoo done and boy am I glad I found nick. I was able to text him and got an appointment for 2 days later. I came into his shop, showed him a picture of something I liked. It's like a light bulb turned on in his head. This is my second tattoo from this shop, one previously done by lefty and my most recent one was done by Nick D! And I love them both! This place is super welcoming, all the people that work here are very professional and make you feel at home. I would give 10 stars if Yelp has them! Nick the owner is awesome! I wanted to get two tattoos (one of them was nicks custom design that was just sitting there on his IG so I finally claimed it) and the other was an alien that say stay rad. I'm living in Stockton at the moment and originally both tattoos would of been $530ish almost $600 but he given me a fair price of $500 which isn't bad. Unfortunately i couldn't get my alien one because I had to go pick up my daughter. He totally understand! I'm going back for my alien next month. His store is super clean and cool music. This is my 670th review.   And of all of them, this has to be my favorite and most meaningful.   I've never had a tattoo on my life but always wanted one.  Even though I could never make up my mind, I knew it would come to me one day.  And when I was with my very close friend with terminal cancer last week I asked him what I should get.  Without hesitation,  he said "hummingbird".  It was certainly a moment of clarity because I knew it would be perfect. When I woke up the next morning I thought to myself,  why wait?  So I put out a desperate message to several shops that I needed a tattoo asap with the reason why and that I wanted my friend to see it so he would know that I really meant that I would get a hummingbird tattoo. I got a lot of responses but Nick was the only one who could give me a solid appointment that same day. I talked to him on the phone so I knew what to expect and had no anxieties when I entered the shop because he was so kind and friendly.   I was so impressed with his professionalism and confidence that I was more relaxed than I thought I'd be.I couldn't wait to show it to my dear friend and he absolutely melted when I showed him.  Not only was he touched but impressed by Nick's beautiful art and especially when I told him that he moved some of his other appointments around so he could fit me in when he read my story. I'm writing this review a little over a year of getting a tattoo here by Nick. Let me begin by saying I first found out about him through a friend. I've seen his tattoos and they're AMAZING!!!! So, I decided to my first tattoo at his shop. One is a quote and the other is an arrow, it was fast, easy and not pricey. Till this day my tattoos look like the first day I got them amazing. He also had no problem teaching me about how to care for the tattoo, I even texted him a few questions and he was glad to help. Nick is absolutely awesome. Nick D is amazing. He designed an incredible custom piece for me that was very personal. Long story short its a memorial piece and I absolutely love it. He listened to everything I wanted to incorporate, changed things I asked and honestly brought the piece to a whole other level of fucking awesome. I couldn't believe my eyes when he sent me the sketch, and now I am even more in love with it then I thought possible. He's tattooed my mother, boyfriend and 2 best friends and I recommend him to anyone and everyone. One of the best, if not the best things about Nick is his variety and skill level in SO MANY different styles of tattoos. He does traditional pieces, portraits, reworks, coverups, free hand and more.
