This past Sunday I got my first tattoo. After doing some research and low key Insta stalking, I found Jeannie Marie and I emailed her with my questions and the story behind the tattoo I wanted. I got the name of my late brother tattooed on my arm, so it was important that I made a connection with someone. When she sent me a photo of her adorable pooch, I knew we were a match. I was really nervous and was totally psyching myself out - it was hilarious as a dude was there getting a huge calf tattoo like no big deal and I was this close to tears. This is the only place I want to get tattoos in the city. I just love the relaxed atmosphere and vibe makes me feel comfortable and no judgement, even if I just want a silly simple tattoo... I have stopped here and gotten tattoos on a whim and been very happy with the speed, service, quality and cleanliness... and importantly: all of my tattoos have lasted, never needed them touched up or anything. I recently got two smallish tattoos from Jeannie Marie. She was super accommodating when I kept changing the design of my tattoo. I drew a couple things that I was deliberating about getting and she worked with both designs helping me decide which would work the best. During the actual tattooing she was super sweet, we had fun conversations and I honestly didn't really ever think about the pain! Yay Jeannie! I'd been looking around the city (cities, really) for a tattoo place and didn't find one that "fit" until I walked into Tuesday Tattoo. It just feels comfortable and welcoming.Taylor at the front desk is incredibly attentive and kind. He remembered who I was and what I wanted every time I called or stopped in - totally the kind of person you want fronting your shop.Although all the artists do great work, I went in specifically for Hannah. She drew up a perfect little poppy for my first tattoo and nine months later (had to come back here for #2!) drew up a perfect little tree for my second. Really cool and fun tattoo shop in the outer sunset. You can tell from the art on the walls and the vibe that this is a special place and every part of my experience from start to finish was great. Got my first ever tattoo from Kelsey who was funny, patient and made me feel like a collaborator on the whole process. Love, love, love candi kinyobi at TT. I've been wanting a tattoo for years--literally--I've been thinking and looking at designs for about five years, and finally found the perfect Japanese lotus flower. I wanted two flowers and a bud, with leaves and a hint of water. I talked to candi in August and she was so busy that I had to schedule my session in October! It was totally worth it, and gave me the time to really think about the design and what I wanted. candi made a template of my calf and sketched the design--we went over it together and tweaked a couple of things and were good to go. It definitely wasn't painless, but candi was a pro and always open to giving me a break when I needed one. The shop has a great vibe and everyone who works there is really into art. While I was there, a couple visiting SF dropped in and got matching Golden Gate Bridge tattoos on their wrists as a souvenir, which I thought was awesome. Everyone is really friendly, but be aware that they are extremely busy, especially on the weekends. I love my tattoo and everyone who sees it is super impressed. Hannah did a phenomenal job on my tattoo. She was chill and extremely talented. I got a tattoo that was bigger than I had intended but Hannah convinced me that it would look better bigger and I totally am glad I went bigger. Everyone's reviews here are so positive, but I had such a bad experience here. I want to feel fine about this, leaving a great review like everyone else. But I can't stay silent, I need to leave this review.I got a tattoo with Candi. Her work was great and she seemed chill and I was psyched to work with her. But in the end it was a nightmare tattoo experience. We worked together to create the tattoo, and it ended up great. Then I needed to energetically feel out where the tattoo was going to be on my back. Candi was not interested in me trying different spots. Starting on the second try, she complained bitterly each time I asked to try a new position, citing that there was a severe time crunch, even though the tattoo itself didn't take more than an hour and a half and we had a 4 hour time slot. She kept saying, "It's fine, Aaron, just get it there." I explained that I wasn't exactly sure of the placement but it was important to me to have it in the right spot. In fact I'd explained all that before leaving my deposit and committing to work with her. In the end I felt so pressured that I gave in and got the tattoo. My own internal justification was that she was a professional tattoo artist, and I should trust her. But immediately when I got home I realized I'd made a mistake - she is a professional, but this way of pressuring tattoo clients is not, and I am the one in the end who knows my own energy. as soon as i saw this flash design by candi kinyobi (at tuesday tattoo, SF), i knew it was for me! i wanted to get this tat as a gift to myself for making it to 25 years, and the skeleton-monkey design inspired by traditional japanese and chinese art represented how my life and death are intertwined. the session took around 2.5 hours, and during that time, my friend estefania​​ was my moral support (thank you!!). candi was warm and welcoming to us as soon as we came in, letting us put our boba in her workspace and giving estefania a chair to sit on. talking with candi felt easy and natural, and she has a soft voice with a cute laugh. im very happy with the results, and highly recommend her! scheduling with her does take patience and persistence, but the wait and planning are worth it. i called in this morning and Candi answered the phone. i specifically asked about walking in that night and getting a small tattoo done by hannah and she said ya and asked about around what time. she then took my name and i had the book with the image and everything. i kept things real simple to avoid waiting for any reason and she agreed on a time. so i went in that night and told the receptionist i had called in and everyone was silent and knew absolutely nothing about a call. Candi just stared at me like i was speaking nonsense and didn't say a word until hannah, who was already working on something with someone in the back, spoke up and said she had no time. Candi then said she did not agree that i could come in that night and apologised for the confusion, when she definitely told me to come in. the receptionist even said hannah wasn't even free for a long time, that's something you should really tell someone.The fact that i made a call, she wrote down my info, and no one at all knew what was going on was not okay. it made me embarrassed and i genuinely felt like i looked pathetic when i know what i'm doing. it is not okay, and you should really be clear about appointments and available times, especially if someone is calling in. please check your appointments and tell people what is going on, this was just not okay. Hannah was really nice thought and asked to see what i wanted, and i could tell she felt bad about the confusion. Candi on the other hand seemed like she could give no shits what so ever. Read Less

Perfect experience getting my first ever tattoo with Hannah Wednesday! She was very warm, patient, & professional, and really helpful when I called with a bunch of questions beforehand. She let my brother come back & be with me while I got it, and made me feel totally at ease. Tattoo turned out exactly how I'd envisioned with clean, dark line work; the small tattoo on my inner bicep hardly hurt at all with her gentle touch.Others at the shop were also helpful & responsive as I was planning the appointment. I explained I needed it done on a specific day, and they were able to rearrange things & squeeze me in.Only minor issue was we couldn't find any parking nearby (Saturday afternoon), and had to circle around several times. Went by for a consult on a rainy day for a transformation of a tattoo that needed help. Jesse was great, patient, and understood (including suggesting that I not cover up but transfer on which was exactly right)! Serendipity confirmed we should come here, as he had an opening that afternoon (and we had jus dropped in). After more hours (and pain) than I expected (biggest tattoo yet on lower back) I have an absolutely stunning tattoo. My wings make me want to fly with hope! I have a few pieces done by the amazing Jesse Tuesday.  Jesse is an amazing artist - the kind you want to put your trust in.  He has done a perfect job of interpreting what i want, designing each piece to fit perfectly where i wanted, uses the needle like a surgeon, and prodeces some of the finest work - with the most spectacular detail - that i have ever seen.   He actually penned one of my tattoos right on my arm, and then inked-over it.  I was in awe watching it all come together. Not only is Jesse an incomparable artist, he is also a super-cool down-to-earth guy.  He makes me feel comfortable in the chair, and his outgoing nature always help the time pass smoothly.  Everyone here is super-cool, it's just an inviting atmosphere and I think anyone would be lucky and happy to spend a few hours here.There is only one potential drawback to seeing Jesse - his appt book fills fast!  That tells you something about Jesse's work...   So if you want to see Jesse, you had better visit him soon and make a plan. I was a spectator to another one of my wife's tattoos. We came to Tuesday Tattoo on a Tuesday to get a tattoo by Wednesday. Sorry, I had to.Ok, Hannah Wednesday took care of my wife and she was awesome. She was an amazing artist and a true professional. She worked with my wife over the months leading up to the appointment to get an idea of what she wanted. This was required due to the fact that we were visiting from out of town. When we arrived she sketched a few things out and helped formulate what became the final product. I was allowed to accompany the wife during the session in the small space behind the western style pivot door. We both sat and Hannah prepared everything in front of us. There is probably space for 3-4 sessions to go on, but only two were taking place while we were there. Again, Hannah was great. She got to work and was friendly. There was a point well into the session where the wife wasn't feeling well and Hannah took phenomenal care of her. She stopped, got her something to drink, opened the back door to let air circulate, and spoke calmly. She was perfect. The final product was beautiful and we were all happy with the result. Hannah's work speaks for itself, so get on her calendar far in advance and you won't be disappointed. Read Less

Tuesday Tattoo is by far the best tattoo shop that I've been to in SF (and trust me, I've been to a lot of them). The artists are truly wonderful, kind, talented people, and I love spending time there. I've sent two friends over to them because I had such a great experience, plus it means I get to sit with them while they are getting inked. :)Candi gave me my last tattoo, and I absolutely love it. I've wanted an anchor on my ribs for years now, but always held back because of the pain (that area tends to be the most painful). I finally decided to do it after some encouragement from a friend who had recently gotten her tattoo done at Tuesday Tattoo. Making an appointment was incredibly easy, and I communicated with Candi about my tattoo. I was so excited to see the final image on the day of my appointment and I was VERY pleasantly surprised. It was both exactly what I wanted, and yet had a unique Candi spin to it. While the tattoo HURT, Candi was incredibly gentle and made sure that I was able to take breaks when I needed. The tattoo is gorgeous, and by far the most intricate/artistic one that I have. I took extra good care of it during the healing process and it hardly scabbed at all (if at all)! Hannah is a true artist when it comes to inking flesh with stunning precision and beautiful imagery. Not only is she a delight to talk with (major plus when it comes to sitting for hours on end with a needle poking you), but the woman really listens to what you want in a tattoo and makes it happen. If I had an unlimited tattoo budget, you bet I'd be in here every month working on my various ongoing body art projects. Candi and Jesse are also lovely and I've seen them do some incredible work, though I have not had the pleasure of having them tattoo me. I highly recommend this sweet shop for all your tattoo needs. Okay, Candi is seriously the best! I first talked to her, I believe, on the first weekend of July to set up an appointment to start on my sleeve. She broke down the pricing and how the process should be when I come in to get started. I gave her $100 to put down as a deposit that would go toward the price. Fast forward to September 8 for my appointment with Candi. It was my birthday and she was so excited to get started on my sleeve. She was able to get the stencil ready within an hr, but the process to actually put the stencil on took another hr. I did not mind this, only because we were going for the full sleeve outline and I knew she wanted it to be placed perfectly on my arm. That is essentially how you know you have a great artist in your hands because they want to make sure it looks good and not wonky on your body.During the process, we made conversation and I also chatted up with the other artist Jill in the shop. They were both so easy to talk to that it actually took my mind off the pain going on in my arm. Candi always made sure that I was comfortable and to let her know if I needed to stop. It took her 2 hours to do the whole outline of my arm and she did a great job! I cannot wait to keep coming in to finish up this sleeve. This place is amazing! I talked to my cousin about where I should get my tattoo and he recommend Tuesday Tattoo. I took a look at the site to see the artists' works and I knew Jessie had the style I wanted for my tattoo. Before I went in I emailed Jessie my tattoo concept. When I went in he had a drawing for me and he included all the details I wanted. The tattoo shop super close to an atm and a coffee shop which is convenient because paying in cash is extra appreciated there (and my cousin told me you should always tip your tattoo artist!) and if you wanna grab something quick to eat or drink Trouble Coffee Company is a door over. Inside the tattoo shop is an amazing atmosphere! I love the beach/vintage feel to it and the music they play is super chill.The process of getting the tattoo was a great experience! Before we began, Jessie told me I could get up and stretch whenever I needed to and offered me water as well. At the beginning I mentioned I was an art major at the beginning of the process and Jessie started talking about his experience with art, which was super interesting. It was also a nice way to get my mind off the pain.Throughout the process Jessie would let me get up and check out how things were looking and it was nice to see everything come together. He even helped me choose a color for my tattoo when he finished the shading and it definitely turned out to be the right choice.At the end of my tattoo I started getting light-headed. Jessie gave me water and I pulled through the rest of the tattoo and fortunately it didn't take that long to finish. When I got up to look at the tattoo I almost fainted and Jessie grabbed me a juice box to get my blood sugar up. When I felt well enough to get up and rest in a chair, Jessie stayed next to me and gave me a cold compress. He didn't even rush me to get up and let me take my time.So overall my experience at Tuesday Tattoo was an enjoyable one! This is my favorite tattoo shop ever. I came here a few days ago to get a quote tattooed on my thigh by Candi. I had emailed her a couple weeks before to discuss the placement and scheduling of the appointment and she was super nice and really helpful! The shop itself has a really chill vibe. Its not scary and intimidating like some shops lol. Its pretty close to the beach also which makes the drive up from south bay pretty nice. The walls are painted a light blue and decorated with tons of different tattoos and artwork. There's definitely a lot of look around at while you're sitting there getting tattooed lol. The day I went was when Leonard Nimoy passed away so Jesse and Candi had just finished tattooing tribute tattoos on each other for him and were listening to some of Nimoys music in the shop (which I thought was really cute hahaha -- it added an interesting ambiance to the shop which I really dug). Its also cash only!Candi was really easy to work with and made the experience so much better than I would have ever hoped! She helped me figure out the exact placement and offered some suggestions but was very open to my ideas and what I wanted. She's also very easy to talk to so it was nice chatting with her while getting tattooed. I am SO OVERLY HAPPY about the tattoo. She did a fantastic job. I've been wanting a tattoo for a long time and I finally bit the bullet a year ago. I looked at several reviews, and Tuesday Tattoo stood out the most. I visited the shop a month prior and the staff were very friendly and did not put any pressure on me. I really liked Hannah Wednesday's art, so I made an appointment to see her. I wanted a tattoo of the sun that's on the Philippine flag and incorporate the red star from the California flag. I doodled here and there, but I couldn't really visualize what I wanted. Plus, my roommate's boyfriend scared me into thinking the red star could be mistaken for something political..... But what Hannah came up with eased my fears. I really liked how she incorporated the two together, and once it heals, I'll post a picture. Hannah was also really accommodating to both my roommates who came for emotional support as this was my first tattoo. She brought out chairs, and I just meditated through the pain. She even apologized for not being talkative as my tattoo took concentration. When it was almost finished, my roommates asked how I was doing and I told them that I was starting to shake. Hannah and Candi got me a juice box to help with my blood sugar. If you really want a tattoo, I highly suggest checking this place out. Fantastic. Hannah did all my work so far. Very deft with color. There was something zen about a gay man being tattooed by a woman who favored feminist rock while I was crying during parts of the Scorpion and all of the blue star. She said "you pick the most painful places but your reasons for choosing them are so clear I hate to warn you how much it's going to hurt. We did the entire scorpion in one session instead of two. I made an appointment with Candi to have a quote placed on my ribs. I sent her a few emails with the quote, and a couple photos with the kind of style and font I wanted so that she could get an idea of what I wanted. When I came in for my appointment, she had a couple of styles ready for me to choose from and it was perfect. For the actual procedure, she was patient and considerate, and even put up a partition for my privacy between her work area and the door.  She would check on me to see if I needed a break from tattoo gun- I didn't- but it was nice to know that she was making sure the entire process was comfortable for me.I will return for more work from Candi in the future.Thanks again- and I love my new tattoo.
