Jen has done a ton of work on my girlfriend and nails it every time...her shading is so good it gives things an almost 3D quality. Very professional staff, courteous and helpful. I like how they constantly make phone call reminders about upcoming appointments. Jen was my artist. She does great work and is very helpful. She makes for great conversation while getting tattooed. The awesome thing is that she tried to refund me part of my deposit since she claimed the final session was less than an hour (Initial deposits are usually an hour's rate). It was about an hour from my perspective so again, it was a "nice try" by her act of kindness and honesty. Still tipped her as well for the remaining session. I chose Mary Joy Scott and Tattoo City after months of looking at art and reading reviews on the internet and talking to people. Best decision I've made in a decade! Mary's style is evocative, clean and free flowing. She's at the top of the class in traditional tattooing. She's also a kick to work with. Down to earth, friendly and funny. She's perfectly efficient when she needs to be and a true professional who knows how to communicate clearly. She transformed my rough sketch into a unique piece of art adding imaginative touches that blew me away. We're in the process of doing two half sleeves (including a coverup -- there's no trace of it now!) and the results are incredible. I'm already planning for additional pieces by her later this year. The other artists who work there are top notch also, and Aleph, the mellow dude who mans the front will make you feel right at home. The whole shop has a relaxed and friendly vibe. For several years, I've had a tattoo dream -- to get a portrait tattoo of my dog by Jen Lee. I love her whimsical style, which captures the realistic image of the animals within a magical illustrative style that has nods to American traditional imagery.  After my dog passed away, I made it a point to take the plunge and make an appointment during a trip to the Bay Area. My dream was fulfilled--and then some! Jen is an AMAZING tattooer and a very nice person with whom to work! The tattoo that she created for me is beyond my expectations--for me, it's perfect! She created a beautiful memorial tattoo for my beloved little dog, and she tattooed it perfectly! I cannot recommend her enough -- she's amazing! Doing business with her was also seamless and professional -- I really appreciate that as well. The whole experience of going to Tattoo City was awesome. Everyone was super nice, and I felt immediately relaxed and at home. And I got the giant thrill of meeting Don Ed Hardy, too -- that was beyond awesome. How rad to meet someone who is so integral to the history of tattooing! This is my 3rd tattoo but the 1st one done by Tattoo City...and by far the best! Doug Hardy is amazing and is extremely professional: good eye contact, very knowledgeable, fast, precise and nonjudgmental. The place is clean, private and gives you confidence that these guys know what they are doing and that they doing it safely and extremely well! There is no attitude either. This shop is great, Tattoo City is everything a tattoo shop should be. The Artists are super talented, courteous and very professional. Parking can sometimes be tough but hey...thats North Beach for you. If you are thinking about getting any work done check out Tattoo City. I live deep in the East Bay and its well worth the trip.
