So I haven't written a yelp review in about 3 years, and the experience I'm reviewing was also about 3 years ago. But I'm currently searching for a tattoo artist and I'm thinking about flying back to San Francisco just for Nakona again (not really but hey if anyone wants to help I'm accepting donations) So my roommate and I were referred to him by a friend of ours, who had a large, BEAUTIFUL half sleeve that ran her 800, if I remember correctly. So I got about a 6"x2" Harry Potter tattoo on my back for 120, which was the shops minimum at the time. He got it done extremely fast, and got the lettering PERFECT, which I was very worried about. My roommate got a large, detailed lion on his thigh in two sessions which I believe ran him somewhere form 200-300 but this tattoo took up his entire thigh. It was absolutely stunning. So not only were the prices unbeatable, but his work was absolute top notch. I'm hesitate going to anyone else now and if you are so lucky to not live on the other side of the country like I do, please let me live through you and make an appointment with Nakona. Read Less

Just got my first tattoo with Nakona. Lived in the Richmond for 5 years before pulling the trigger. Sadly waited till my last week in SF to try to book an appointment - big mistake every tattooer in the city it seems books weeks out! I was turned off by another shop as they weren't particularly friendly or helpful - hey, I'm new to this so I had no clue what to expect. Nakona was super easy to work with - answered my emails and questions. He had a great vision for how to bring my idea to life - trust me don't try to design your tattoo yourself let a professional help you :). Loved the design he drew up and my appointment was super smooth - no pressure and plenty of advice on placement, color, size, etc. and my new tattoo turned out great! Came here for my first tattoo! It was about time. I had found Porcelain (Jordan) years ago through Instagram and totally fell in love with his work and aesthetic. I knew that I wanted my first tattoo to be from someone so talented and fascinating. I went to Porcelain's website to schedule an appointment and he emailed me back promptly and easily. We scheduled an appointment and that was that! Super simple.I showed up and the place was super clean and cute. Small hole-in-the-wall shop underneath the surface of the sidewalk. Porcelain had made two different size swatches of the tattoo I wanted, which was super convenient and thoughtful. I told him it was my first tattoo and he talked to me about it and reassured me everything would be alright, which I really appreciated! The tattoo honestly did not hurt that bad, and of course it's different for everybody, but I had an almost enjoyable time. It took about 30 minutes and turned out literally exactly how I wanted. Was so happy and pleased with my experience here and I will 100% be back for touch ups and more tattoos! Their minimum charge is $80, which was mine, and I left a $20 tip. So happy with my tattoo!
