If you want your tattoo done right by skilled artists that not only do incredible work but also treat you like family and love what they do then this is the place to go. My artist Brian, is the man. Good prices but more importantly a very fast worker. He's does 5 tattoos for me and I haven't had to come in for a touch-up once. He's super rad. San Clemente Tattoo is an awesome shop! It's so clean and everyone there is friendly and also professional. My husband and I get our work done by Brian Taylor and he is AMAZING! He takes his time and is gentle. He goes out of his way to make I am comfortable during the process and will check in a few days after to check on the healing and to make sure I am happy with my tattoo. I was referred to San Clemente Tattoo by a couple people who were very happy with the work they had done there. I walked in and randomly landed John, who was great. This was my first tattoo, something very emotional for me because it was my cat's paw print who recently passed away and was very dear to me. John was the perfect personality for me, friendly but very laid back and cool. He sat with me and figured out a way to make the paw print look unique and not like a generic print, but still kept the shape of my kitty's mark. His procedure was clean, comfortable, and quick. The shop's nice and I know that there are some very good artists there but I'm just here to provide my experience... Without completely putting my artist on blast we'll just say his name starts with a 'J'...So I came in for a cover up -granted it was big but I did have several laser treatments to get it manageable... So 'J' said he's done alot of bio work (yet in further convo's said he hasn't in a looong time.ok) So long story short...I paid about 6K CASH for this 3/4 sleeve... I spent at least 50+ hours there however only got inked for maybe half of that...twice I had appointments that he took a walk in right before and had to wait over an hour. One session was over 5 hours with about an hour and a half of actual ink time as he free handed the whole thing and kept drawing and erasing, drawing and erasing...but I paid for his time drawing and erasing!! (he said "How's about $600" --- ok good deal since I been there 5 hours BUT NOT for an hour and a half of actual tattooing!!) - Dude likes to take ALOT of smoke breaks that's for sure so keep that in mind that you'll be waiting on that and then smelling stall person smoke the entire session - the gloves are for HIS protection-not yours - i've seen him handle drinks from the outside, move stuff around etc and then just work on me - yeah i should have said something--- I should have said a lot actually, but I was at his mercy since the design was in his mind and I couldn't exactly go anywhere else, so I didn't... I messaged Greg the owner (who is quite conceded) before posting this---course he defended his guy (his buddy for 20 years), his shop -blah blah blah and will 'defend this post -blah blah blah...but buyer's beware -  you may catch J on a good day - he doesn't have a real portfolio but has a few things to see or you could catch him on days where he's tired, wants to go home and doesn't care... my tattoo has...blown lines, incomplete work, half @sses work and overall a complete lack of attention to detail...but Greg thinks it's quality so that told me enough ... one of the worst decisions I ever made was coming here - Oh well...   And of course Greg responds---Guess there's more than one in the crowd as I've read others that didn't like your place either. ---So  Greg you asked why I kept coming back? -As I stated it above and in our , ummm like 5 emails---the design was in his head...what am I going to do? go to someone else and say "hey, do something with this?' Now it's on my girlfriend. She went once and didn't say a word about it AND you were not even there. All she did was say something when John tried to short the session in which he said he would complete it all then - good one. Amazing quick clean work. The artists are professional, clean, and very, very skilled. No matter where you are in the place there is always something too look at while being worked on. This is hands down the best tattoo shop in California, all of the artist here are amazing.  They make you feel very welcomed and there is no intimidation from anyone which is rare to find in any tattoo shop.  Brian Taylor is my personal favorite and my husband and I have been going to him for years.  He takes the time to really put the work into what you want and will also tell you if something wont work or look right.  His drawing skills are spot on and he has a good hand when he has a needle to your skin (this is VERY important).  He is very versatile which is also not easy to find. My father in law who is 56 yrs old has gotten both sleeves done by Spider and he could not be any happier with this shop, he loves going here and likes how all the guys make him feel like part of the "family".  I send all my friends and family here, literally cannot go wrong. This has become my regular shop. Sick little place with flash all over the wall. Good dudes work the place and they all clearly know what's up when it comes to quality tattoos. Brian Taylor has done almost my entire arm and I couldn't be happier with it. His prices are fair his work is on point and he knows what he is doing. I first found this place by total accident, went to a place just down the street and was unimpressed with their attitude. Walked by San Clemente Tattoo and thought I'd give it a shot. Since then I've only been tattooed there. The artists may not greet you at the door with a glass of flavored water to make you welcomed, but they are all talented men who know what they're doing with ink. I've been tattooed by Chas, Spider and Brian and they each have their own style and strengths. For the quality of the work they do, it is very reasonably priced. After spending well over 50 hrs getting tattooed there in the last year I can safely say that these guys all know what they are doing. Read Less

After getting shoddy work TWICE at White Lotus in Laguna Hills I tried Sid's in Tustin.I was quoted $300 and after 2.5 hours was told $385. Uh....ok??An acquaintance at San Onofre told me about this shop. Scouted it out and talked with them and pulled the trigger.Forget the artists name, John, I think... but he's a really big guy who does/did great lettering. Very pleased with the work. I would go back in a heart beat, but I don't really have any plans for more work.Strongly recommend. Read Less
