I love Living Art Gallery. Shop is beautiful and clean, artists are amazing. I asked for a last minute appointment with an artist, who was completely booked for a month. She had a cancellation and Brenna was able to move all the other appointments around to accommodate me. Seriously the best shop I've ever been to. Read Less

They pick and choose the tattoos they want to do. There is no creative ability, more of a cut and paste, you bring in the picture you want, and we'll put it on you. The customer service there is lacking as well. You won't get a response from them, even when they are working up a tattoo for you. it's been months and haven't heard from them. Go somewhere else. It's been well over 10 years since I've spent any significant time in a tattoo parlor / shop / studio and I have tattoos from each incarnation as this industry has dug itself out from beneath the stereotype(s) of bikers and baddies to a bonafide medium that can't be discounted as fad or fancy. Living Art and the practitioners therein are absolutely top notch in every way. The environment and presentation leaves nothing to be desired and the staff is friendly, knowledgable and in no way cooler than you. My wife got a piece with Britta that she's been pining over for nearly 2 years. The work, artistry, execution and overall experience(s) were excellent. So good that after 12 years off the needle, I will be in the chair in two weeks and have had my fire rekindled to finally flesh out those half finished sleeves I've been wearing.There are many quality shops between my home and SCLAG but this place is well worth the drive. My boyfriend and I came in to consult on future tattoos and get a few piercings. The place is beautifully kept with amazing paintings, sculptures, ceramics amongst other art pieces. One of the best tattoo shops I've seen. The artists do great work but you're going to pay for it. $120-$160 an hour but totally worth it in my opinion. I highly recommend this place to anyone who can afford it. The staff is friendly and down to earth. I, personally, had a couple scheduling errors and had to wait around a little bit after my start time but other than that, the place is legit. Best tattoo shop atmosphere I've ever experienced. I would call this a 'High Class' tattoo shop. Notice, even the name describes it as a 'lounge'. The artist's here are TOP NOTCH. This is not just a tattoo shop with any ol tattoo artist, these artist are hand selected to adhere to a High standard. Whatever style you're looking for, there is an artist here that can do it above and beyond!Personally I can attest to the greatness of Monte for his attention to detail realism. Highly recommended to anyone who wants someone who takes a great amount of care into your artwork. I had some ideas to show him from concepts to piece together and he had the forward thinking to go pull a piece he had in mind that I liked even better than what I had in mind.Art and I sat all day to get this done. I wanted to get a tattoo for my birthday so I searched for an artist that fit the style I was looking for. Out of the 50+ tattoo shops I looked at I kept stopping at Hayley's Instagram page @hayley.tattoo.art . Her style of tattooing what exactly what I was looking for. Her work was clean and detailed just like I wanted. I brought her a few images of an idea I liked and she was able to put her own spin on it and create something just for me. Been wanting a watercolor tattoo for a few months and was searching for the right artist. I came across Britta's work and immediately went in for a consultation. She was terrific from the start, I gave her the concept ideas, she gave me a fair estimate and set an appointment for a few weeks later.On the day of the appointment, I saw and approved the sketch and she got to work on me right on time. It's not my first tattoo so I knew what I was in for, but she still checked in to make sure I was comfortable and okay with the pain (which was minimal). My sister and I were visiting our cousin at Camp Pendleton and they decided they wanted a nose piercing. We looked up tons of places and this place seemed to be the best in the area. We went, and they got them back pretty quickly. Brenna poked and made their noses sparkle 😜 Everyone was nice, the place was clean and everything went smoothly. Monte has been making a dream my reality with my Wizard of Oz tattoos, it's a long journey but it's a great one! The whole crew makes you feel right at home. My husband got a great piece from another artist, Jason, that I just adore! The  gallery is elegant, relaxing, and clean. The amount of talent found in one place blows my mind. Monte is a once in a lifetime talent, I can't believe that a random Google search brought me to his shop. I trust him with my biggest project. I've been meaning to post my review of this tattoo lounge, but wanted to wait until my tattoo healed and then I got busy. I went in March to get a tattoo that has a lot of sentimental meaning to me, and I had scheduled to meet with Britta. She was super helpful, as this was my first tattoo, and I was still a little nervous about the process. I had a design idea in mind, but really relied on her artistic expertise. She was beyond patient with all my questions, and the process ended being pretty smooth because of that. I would absolutely go back and get another tattoo from her, I think she's a really creative person and I felt comfortable asking her questions and discussing ideas. I walked in yesterday just wanting a quote on a tattoo and I was in luck, Jason told me he just had a cancellation and could do it for me then. I was very picky but he was very patient and worked with me til I figured out exactly how I wanted it. I had an idea in my head but when we tried it on paper it wasn't what I was looking for. 11/1/15 This review is for Britta who was amazing! After about 6 months of deliberating and researching different artists my husband finally found Britta through Yelp reviews and online! He called and they were originally booked up but there had been a cancellation so he made a deposit and we were off to the Living Art Gallery Tattoo Lounge on a nice Sunday afternoon. We arrived early and went inside to find a cool lounge area filled with art pieces. J filled out some forms and met Britta, who initially seemed very quiet and intimidating with her full on tattoos and body mods. She had a brief consultation with my husband about any images/ideas for her to look at, and they discussed his design which she said she loved and we waited for her to prep and be ready for his session. She asked if I wanted to sit in, and there was a chair next to the seat so I got to watch the entire session! Each artist had their own private working areas, very nice and clean, filled with their personal artwork and works in progress displayed, like a mini-art studio.  As this was my first time experiencing a tattoo in progress, I was nervous and felt like I was holding my breath the entire time! Britta was extremely nice and I slowly felt at ease while watching my husband's tattoo take shape!She was very patient and answered questions about tattoos and suggestions for first timers and how to find/make a design that is meaning and to have it printed and put it up on your wall for a week, and look at it to see if you still like it, then do it for a month, and so on, for a year; then get your tattoo! I was also advised to not get too small of a tattoo or too large of one either for my first one. The entire process took about an hour and half! My husband's vision, coming to life on his skin was amazing! Britta made it look so real it looked unreal! It was truly "living art"!! It exceeded his expectations and he was truly happy with the results! Afterwards she gave us the aftercare information and advised him to call in the next few month for any touchups to his tattoo. Word of advice: Don't bring in a copy of an image and ask her to replicate it as it is a big DISLIKE for her, she only does unique pieces. After this experience I know who I'd want my future tattoo to be done by. Britta was very professional and honest, I liked her personality and her creativity. I was extremely excited to get my watercolor tattoo done by Britta. She specializes in watercolor tattoos, so I took the hour long drive to go see her.I walked into the shop and it probably took five minutes for anyone that worked there to fully acknowledge me. I, honestly, was too excited/nervous to care.Britta walks out and greets me, she asks what type of flowers I want plus the placement and size. I thought we had already gone over this through email, but whatever. She shows me a few samples (from the internet) and I choose the one that I like best.The needle jabbing process only took about an hour and it was quiet 99% of the time. She's not a talker, but not everyone is. I understand. When she finally finishes I take a look at the artwork on my skin and asked if she could make it a little bit more "watercolor-ish." And then she fixed it!Overall, the experience was okay but Britta works magic with her skills. I would definitely go back to her again for more watercolor pieces. Read Less

I loved getting my tattoo here. Some friends and I were planning a trip out to CA from CO and we all decided to get tattoos while there. Setting up the appointments was very easy, everyone we met there was awesome, and they have a lovely shop there with some really cool art.
