Went there today to get our mother & daughter tattoo. Kyle was our artist and he was amazing. Although we felt like he could do a little better, he remained calm and patient with us 5 girls and continued until he was finished. It took him nearly  5 hours for us all. Sac City Tattoo is the best shop to go to if you are considering to get expert traditional work done by Alex, Adam, and Layne. I personally have gotten work done by Alex and Adam before, I've gotten nothing but badass tattoos done on me each time and I plan to get more in the future from them. From my experiences so far, they have been very welcoming and respectful, always greets me with a smile and handshake. I'm deaf by the way so this wasn't really a problem or a "barrier" to Alex and Adam. They were more than willing to write on paper back and forth with me. I've gotten 3 tattoos from Alex, one from Adam so far. Alex and I just seem to be on the same wavelength, we just know what I like and I am always on board with his suggestions. Alex, Adam, and Layne have been doing this for a long time so I'd easily trust them. They will listen to your ideas, what you want done and they will draw to the best of their capabilities to fit what you're looking for. I had such a great experience at Sac City! I contacted Alex about a piece I wanted on my leg, I saw his work on Instagram and loved his aesthetic with his traditional work. The shop is super easy to get to, right off the freeway, with parking right in front. Alex had a gorgeous sketch to show me, it was exactly what I was envisioning. The shop is so beautiful and spacious too! The piece was on my inner thigh- Alex was so professional and respectful and made me feel super comfortable I couldn't be happier with entire experience and the way my tattoo came out!! 100% for sure one of the best shop experiences in Sacramento, when it comes to body art. Upon walking into sac City is one thing you will immediately notice right off the bat is that it is a true traditional shop at its core they do amazing one-of-a-kind work there. Alex, Adam, Layne and Kyle are straight up talented artists! Alex took my idea and ran with it! I originally went in to get a 6 inch round image of a dog paw but that I was open to ideas. He told me he would draw something up and that if I didn't like it, I didn't have to worry about it he'll redraw it. 40 minutes later I had the beginings of an amazing full thigh piece. He absolutely killed this piece of artwork that I get to keep on me forever, so much so that I went back and got a full-length shin piece and again he crushed it! Holy shit. Okay first of all, I walked out of there with a dope ass piece. That being said, I wouldn't go anywhere else. Cool ass bunch of dudes work in the shop, they're hella  helpful and hella friendly. I got my first tattoo, being a band logo, so it was straight up the same design. This time, it was a little trickier because I was going in with more of an original concept, and Adam fucking knocked this shit out of the park with his own ideas.I'm not familiar with the fact that tattooing actually requires knowledge of anatomy(I got mine on the forearm) and someone as passionate as Adam to straight tell you to your face that idea sucks or it just won't work. he won't do it. It's not because he doesn't want to please you, it's because he doesn't want to get the credit for a shitty piece, so it's best not to do something you won't like 20 years down the line when your body is old and wrinkled.Thanks Adam, Layne and Korey you guys were hella dope!(When Adam says "Trust me, you're gonna love it," he's not changing it to his idea in his head and you don't know what it will look like. Super clean shop with amazing people. Alex and Adam made me feel like I've been homies with them for years. Alex has amazing art work and is clean and funny. Adam was super funny and made the experience that much better. Alex took serious time and thought making a design that was perfect and I appreciate it. He even thought about how I can tie in more designs to it. He made sure I would love the design and I did. He made sure I knew what to do and expect in the healing process. He even had forgotten to give me the salve to use for the first 4 days and he went out of his way after work to meet me and give it to me. Called at noon and spoke with Alex to see if I could walk-in for a very small heart tattoo and asked for an estimate. Alex stated that he'd prefer that I come in so he can see the area and sketch my vision and said he'd be available at 1:00pm. When I arrived I was warmly greeted and noticed the shop was immaculate and designed well. Even though my tattoo was extremely simple and low budget, I was still treated like a high paying customer. I walked into a couple of different parlors before finally deciding on this one and Im soo glad that I did.. the other places that i went to were very cold and unwelcoming and i just didnt get the same vibe i did when i walked in to sac city tat.. it's really what made the difference to me. i was greeted and welcomed right away by Layne. He was able to sketch out what i wanted to get a rough idea of it and was able to give me a price right then and there. He had me come back in later that day because there was another appointment but this was fine with me since i was a walk in anyway.. he didnt charge me a deposit fee to have something drawn up for me. He was very patient and understanding of what i wanted. I showed him a picture of the color i wanted my lotus shaded and he was SPOT ON. I legitimately couldnt be more happy with the way it came out.. he did the lotus and turned the stem into my husbands name. He's definitely a very knowledgable artist who knows what he was doing. Perfect placement and positioned my arm in a natural spot so that the tattoo wouldnt be distorted. Very light handed(ive had another tattooist do my tat like he was just carving a pumpkin. They are very clean and professional. I felt like the set up took longer than the tat itself. even though they were near closing time he still took his time to perfect my tat and i didnt feel like i was being rushed AT ALL. The other two guys that work there are very funny and friendly. I appreciate the fact that he was very open and honest to whatever questions that I had for him unlike a lot of other tattooist that ive met. Overall a great environment and a great shop. I got my first tattoo here about 10 years ago. I was looking to get another and had read good reviews about the shop. When I walked in, the first thing I noticed was how clean it was. Not saying that it wasn't clean the first time, but it has definitely gone through a makeover since the last time I was there. I didn't have an appointment, and thankfully Layne had the time to take me in right away. He proceeded to draw up my design (Draw, not trace or printed from the computer) and had me in the chair working in no time at all. I've been to 3 different shops over the years, and have 6 other tattoos, and I can honestly say that this new one is definitely one of my favorites. My design was all letters done in a western/sailor font style with some shading in the center. Sorry, the pic doesn't show the whole tattoo but, my tattoos are my business. The lines and the shading are super clean. I would definitely recommend this shop, and Layne, to anyone who asks me for a tattoo referral. While I was there, there was another artist working on a guy and his work was also looking very nice. Their pics speak for themselves. This is a good shop, i'll definitely be coming back. I came as a walk in around 6:45/7 on a Friday night. I was able to get my tattoo right then and there! Alex was the one who did my tattoo and he did an amazing job. He was very kind and offered to let me take breaks since my tattoo was on my ribs. I felt that he truly cared about what he was doing and took his time to explain everything. He helped pick a design that would be timeless and beautiful, while covering the old tattoo so well that you would have no idea it was ever there to begin with. Recently got a tattoo from Adam. It was a cover up so I was extremely  nervous but Adam truly made me feel at ease. He was completely professional and just drew a design on my arm and it looked amazing first time round. They are super friendly here, but had a terrible experience with ear piercings. They came out crooked ! When I tried to look at them in the mirror and question them he told me "oh I wouldn't lie to you! They're good!"
