PJ, the man at backdoor is as nice a guy and as good of an artist as there is. He has done tats on myself, my wife and our grand-daughter. All of his work is better than any we have had done anywhere in America. I have been tattooed from Bangor, Maine to Honolulu Hawaii and no one does a better job, cares more and works with the customer better in order to get them exactly what they want, than PJ does. It has been a few years since PJ did the dragon tat on my ribs and it looks as good as it did the day he did it. This past June, my wife and our grand-daughter went in for something he doesn't normally do, matching watercolor tats. He figured that Shyte out and made their dream tattoos come to life. It is 10:25 am on a Friday as I write this review and in a few moments, I am off to hit his studio to have him lay more ink, assuming he is available. If he is not available right now, I'll wait for him because he is worth waiting for. Having hit dozens of studios in Sacramento, I feel confident in having an opinion about the artists in the area. There are none better than PJ (that I have found). I am grateful that we found him and that he does the work for us; 1) as professionally, 2) as technically precise, and 3) as inexpensively. Last I was there, we had a conversation about a sport he and I are both interested in. He gave me a booklet on that subject and opened new doors into said sport. NOTHING to do with tattoos, but a commentary on how this man appreciates his customers, deals with & helps them as he can. This sport I mentioned, has nothing to do with tattoos, yet he educated me and helped me to further my goals in this area just because he is a decent human being that cares.Good guy, great shop, even better tattoos all at very reasonable prices. If you want good tat work done at reasonable prices, go see PJ @ Backdoor Studios, on Del Paso blvd, Sacramento, CA U. S. A.If you don't like his work, I suppose it's possible that he had a bad day, we all do. Or possibly, it's because you are a D-bag that doesn't know shyte about tattoos. It's possible. Just saying. I got a tattoo here a year and a half ago of Roman numerals on the back of my neck- the pricing on it was definitely good at 60$. The artist was charging 60 an hr. I never liked my tattoo after I got it. It does not look centered- though I did bring a friend who said it was centered. Some of the Roman numerals had thicker lines than the others. Some of them had ball points where you can tell where the tattoo artists left off at to continue his work- it was a sloppy job. There are bumps here and there when you run your fingers along the tattoos and it had been since the day I got it. I was hoping it would go away, but it never did. I took a picture of it a couple times and they are not keloids that healed over. They are scars on the ballpoints I believe from him pushing the tattooing gun too hard. Overall, his tattooing was not very consistent on me.

My wife and I both purchased a LivingSocial deal to Backdoor Studio. We were both tattoo virgins, so we were nervous about the process. PJ was great and put us both at ease. He's very nice and professional and walked us through the process step by step. Most importantly, we love our tattoos! PJ has awesome skills and his portfolio clearly demonstrates his ability to tattoo in ANY style. If/when we're ready for additional tattoos in the future, we'll definitely be returning to Backdoor Studio and seeing PJ again.

I bought a Living Social deal for Backdoor Studio and I was skeptical buying a tattoo off Living Social, so I went on Yelp and checked out the reviews and from what I saw on here made me feel so much better about my decision to go here!P.J was so nice and professional, he has been tattooing for 40 years, and the studio has been there for 28 years! You know your doing something right if you can stay in business for that long now a days! I LOVE my tattoo:) And if the owner's dog lay's on the person you came with foot, you know he like you too!
