I had my very first tattoo yesterday at 49 years old. I was looking for someone to tattoo some writing from my 97 year old grandmother onto my forearm. So I knew what I wanted going in. But I was looking for advice as far as size and exact placement, I was looking for a feeling of confidence in the person who was going to do the tattoo and I was looking for a mature experience. Derek Alvarado was the artist last night who did my tattoo and he checked all those boxes for me. Very professional and calming. Kevin and his dad worked together to get my little 7 year old's ears pierced so she wouldn't have to do a single piercing twice. They were so fun and encouraging. Don't ask me why I went to this place... the line work is absolute trash. Like bro, it looks like you gave up halfway. Why would you do this? The cats don't match at all. The left cat is bigger and sloppier than the one on the right. You forgot to go over the old line on the right on the ear and now it looks worse than before! And you missed the whiskers on the right. I usually don't write reviews but I HAD to with this shop. 3 friends and I decided to all get our noses pierced. Red Dragon was the only shop who was open at 12 AM, and we drove 30-45 minutes to go, with their high ratings in mind. Very clear why. Even with us arriving 30 minutes before closing, Kevin was amazing, friendly, and very conscious of cleanliness and took his time to explain everything we needed to do. He was an all around amazing guy, and the shop had an amazing vibe to it. I wanted to buy a hoop right then for future wear, but he said that he wouldn't sell it prematurely in case I got too eager to put it in and got an infection. I appreciated that. My wife suffers from headaches on a daily basis and sometimes they turn into uncontrollable migraines.  Nothing seemed to work. Not medication, rest, nothing. We had heard that getting your tragus pierced would help with this.  So while we were in Roseville yesterday, I looked up a piercing place and found Red Dragon... from the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed. It was my wife, my two kids (ages 9 and 12) and myself.  I noticed that they had some music playing with profanity in the background, like every other tattoo shop does. But unlike other shops, the staff at Red Dragon, changed the music when they saw my kids. They didn't complain nor make us feel like my kids were a nuisance. As weird as it sounds, the environment felt very family friendly.  Anyways, so Kevin comes out and I decide to ask a bunch of questions about piercing the tragus to get rid of headaches.  He was so honest and so knowledgeable on the topic.  He said "honestly, if you're here to get that piercing done in hopes of relief from headaches, I wouldn't pierce you.  I would wait until you have a headache, come back and we can touch different pressure points on the ear to pinpoint where to pierce". I feel like most places would have been like, ok let's pierce the tragus, and if it doesn't help, come back and keep getting pierced until we find the right place.  Not Kevin. He wouldn't pierce my wife's ear until he knew 100 percent what would help. Luckily my wife had a headache yesterday, and Kevin took the time to explain his process, took the time to find different pressure points in the ear that could cause relief. Sure enough, it wasn't the tragus that was the solution, it was the daith. Instantly my wife had relief from the pressure that was built up behind her right eye. Thank you Kevin for your time, honesty, and professionalism. Thank you staff for doing the little things like changing the music while my kids were in the shop, even though it wasn't necessary.  We will definitely come back! I would rarely take the time to write a review. However, this is the worst experience I've ever had at a tattoo parlor and I felt compelled to warn everyone about this artist.  If I could give 0 stars I would. The place itself, appeared to be very low budget, run down, and "janky".  I have many tattoos, n have been in many tattoo parlors. The feel of this one, is unwelcoming and rude. The "rooms" were partitioned off with PVC pipe and cheap old curtains.  The employees didn't seem to like one another. The drama created a bad vibe.  Although all of those things suck, none of it matters, if the artist is good and the work is clean & tight. The "artist", Luke, who worked with my fiancee & I, isnt an artist, by any stretch of the term. Unprofessional & sloppy.  Utter disrespect for the craft, complete disregard for the customer and his work. Appeared to not give a f***.  He has a very heavy hand and must've cut class or was stoned, the day they learned about straight lines.  Not only were his lines sloppy and the shading, inconsistent...but he also altered a very personal design, midway through, without consulting my fiance before doing so.  His heavy hand and obvious disregard for comfort, made the experience so painful, my fiance had to split it into 2 days (If we hadn't left a large deposit, we wouldn't have returned).The color he used for shading on the 2nd day didn't match the color used on the 1st day...by a long shot.  When I mention something to him about it, he said "oh, it's OK... it probably will when it heals". He didn't care at all. Luke, if you read this, considerate it constructive criticism. I would highly consider finding a new line of work, if you would like to be successful at what you do.  Clearly, careers involving art, tattooing, or customer service, are not your cup of tea. Luckily we found an excellent artist in South Miami Beach, who was able to clean up your scratch. **WARNING**  Red Dragon needs to be shut down by the Health Dept asap!! Their so called "Artist"  cross contaminates during your session, leaving you with staph infection or MRSA and a tattoo not even close to what you had agreed upon. Very crooked line work, with different thickness of lines, and uneven through out. The tattoo "artist" was obviously on drugs. They refuse to reimburse  and never even asked them for medical bill reimbursement. Guess how they want to "make it right",  they said to return to them for more tattoo work to "fix" it. Got a tattoo here and first of all the guy didnt even do the design I wanted even tho he had a stencil and an image. Then started coloring it incorrectly. Then caused me a terrible infection and wont respond to me after letting him know. My arm is swollen like a golfball. I had to get an injection in the bottom of antibiotics and now have to take two sets of antibiotics orally. Never again. Read Less

Septum piercing done very well. Clean and well-kept shop with friendly staff. Only down a star for aftercare instructions. Everything I can find uses salt water cleansing, but they insisted Dial Gold Antibac Soap 3-5 times a day. They recommended buying jewelry from PainfulPleasures.com, citing it was one of the best, but even PainfulPleasures states "Don't Apply Soap Directly to Your Septum Piercing" and recommends salt water. I never thought that I would absolutely love a tat and piercing place, but I love Red Dragon.A good friend of mine knew I wanted to have some piercings re-done, and had just been to Red Dragon the week before, and highly recommended my going there. We had been to another place a few years ago, and she said this place by far was better. Friends know stuff!I didnt make an appointment, just walked in. Kevin, who by the way is THE awesomeness person ever! was available. YAY me. He put me at ease, and said, you'll be out of here in no time. Look, I am a total chicken when it comes to enduring intense pain, so his joke about back piercings hurting worse, made me laugh. Kind of.  Kevin is a perfectionist, and before he started, he cleaned the room we were using. Once he looked at the areas I wanted pierced, he cleaned the areas, and before I could cry like a baby, he was done. Yeah, he's THAT good. He gave me clear instructions about cleaning, and keeping the areas clean. This is the first time that I have had a piercing that hasnt hurt past an hour or two. Usually, the pain lasts a few days. Did I mention that he is super reasonably priced?? He is! Its a cash only transaction, but there is an ATM inside should you forget your benjamins. I did take a peek at one of the tat artist work, and was impressed with the detail of his work. Red Dragon is incredibly clean from floor to ceiling, and that alone is worth a lot. Called 5 different shops around my area at around 11pm looking for a tongue ring because my ball fell off (swallowed it lol) and no one could help me but this place. An employee offered to give me a free ball so I wouldn't have to purchase a new one and even offered to put it on for me. I love love love this place!! Seriously the atmosphere is so laid back but still very professional. I've had 3 cartilage piercings done by them and today I went in for a tragus and forward helix piercing! The whole experience was awesome. I have a lot of ear piercings, so it must've been because of the pain/ hearing the actual piercing go thu that I almost passed out! I brought my daughter in to get her ears pierced and the piercer was incredibly delicate and professional. He had good recommendation and even help clean up her previous piercings in her ears.I myself have actually used the same piercer when I needed my lip piercing pushed back through. I love ink. It is the best way to share my loves and passion. On my birthday this year I treated myself to some ink. I looked up local tattoo businesses and Red Dragon was where I decided to explore. I was greeted by Christian who welcomed me in and invited me to look at the portfolios. I looked through each one I admired the work, the clean lines, colors and obvious visions of each individual piece. As I looked through Steve's, I found myself struck with admiration and exc...itement and looked at Christian and said "this one! I want him.. is he here!?" Steve came up front, immediately reached out to shake my hand and introduced himself. As we discussed what I was looking for, sharing photos I had to help describe what I was looking for. My joy was met with even more excited when Steve said he was available then! YES!! He took my desires and disappeared to draw up what I hoped I gave in description. HOLY SMOKES - yep. He captured it and then the fun began. Steve has some serious talent. Not only for his crazy skills with drawing, but his technique, his touch (not at all painful) were undeniable. He took the butterfly 🦋 on my hand and brought it to life! He captured the beauty of the Plumeria flowers, the colors and design and placed them perfectly. I have not had this many compliments in years! I have been stopped more times than I can count. This of course made me want MORE! (You can never have just one) Tattoos are never something anyone should do unless they are ready to permanently commit to the choice they make. Which is why it has taken me over 20 years to get my gorilla. An eastern lowland silverback to be exact. In my 25 years of getting pieces that have such meaning and pride, I never found the right image or artist - until now. I found the perfect image and brought it to Steve. His excitement was as great as my own. What I thought was would be a project Steve would need time to design and execute was wrong. He disappeared to work out the image, draw it up and prepare to get the piece on me. Steve has brought what I thought would only be a "wish" to a beautiful reality. Stage one is complete, I have the most incredible creature on my leg and cannot stop looking at him! The detail, I mean serious detail all the way down to the wrinkles, little hairs, and textures. Freaking AWESOME!! The next couple of weeks are going to the longest two weeks to wait for healing until the shading, highlights, color and life is brought in. Ron Cox (owner) is so down to earth and such a welcoming business owner who is on site and available to his staff and customers. The shop is clean and comfortable. So I got a daith piercing here today! The headache that was coming on when I went in to the shop almost instantly stopped! So if anyone suffers from headache or migraines definitely look into it. As far as the piercer, a guy named Chris did my piercing for me, Ron and Chris were super helpful and informative when I came in and told them it was to help relieve headaches. Even though I had originally asked for the daith piercing, Chris went through and check different areas of the ear to see which ones would possibly be more helpful in relieving my headaches. So, I should've probably done this a while ago. But I didn't because I THOUGHT this place did a good job.Nope. Get this, I got my nipples pierced after talking so much hype about it in October. I got these bar piercings that's about a 14-16g?Well, I went to go get them changed out and replaced with hoops. Another piercer told me whoever pierced my nipple did it incorrectly and did not go over the proper instructions for how to take care of it.These people at Red Dragon only said "Just move he bar side to side with gold dial soap four times a day and you'll be fine"Not sea salt and warm water, or how about the fact the piercing they put in my nipple caused discoloration? Regardless of how many times I cleaned it.Yeah.. Thanks a lot.On top of which, my right nipple's hole is way off. The entry is fine, but the exit hole? It's too behind my nipple... So it's off looking now that I have my hoops in.I got a small heart tattooed on my finger and Cody's the one that did it. Apparently he doesn't know how to tattoo fingers very well seeing how my heart wasn't filled in at all. Now the line is jagged on the sides...After spending over $100? Thanks a lot Red Dragon. My 11 year old daughter wanted her ears pierced for Christmas and wasn't sure about needle piercing which my husband and I insisted upon. There are a lot of haters leaving fake reviews but that slam or bump shops but I will tell you that I get both tattoos and piercings at Red Dragon and they always do incredible work, and go out of their way to make sure I understand the aftercare too. My only experience with tattoos and piercings has been here, and I'll never go anywhere else.  My tattoo was done by Steve. It was my first one and he took me (and my 4 family members/friends who came to watch) to a private area.  Both he, and the atmosphere, calmed my nerves.  When all was said and done I had a very special tattoo done in memory of my brother.  It is beautiful and everyday I'm so thankful I got it done there. The piercing I recently got done was the tragus by Chris.  He was very friendly, and again, made me feel relaxed.  A girl had just come in before me and had her tragus removed because it was infected.  I was sure to listen to all the aftercare instructions he gave me.  It is VERY important that you listen the employees at this place, they know what they're talking about!  DO NOT USE THE ALMIGHTY GOOGLE.  There were so many people on the internets that said they had an infection but were still making tragus aftercare YouTube videos!!  Do not use Qtips like EVERYONE says.  All I do is wash my tragus with Dial soap... that's it! No fancy spray needed.  Needless to say, Chris saved me money because I didn't need to buy expensive products, and he saved me from getting an infection... all because I listened to him.Obviously I would highly recommend Red Dragon Tattoo for piercings and tattoos.  Keep up the good work!
