I've generally don't post reviews. I always mean to but never want to post too early and have something change. As a warning, this review is detailed and talks about all the woes that come from a bad piercing.I went to Jimi's about two years ago and I got my nipples pierced. I had done research and knew what the aftercare would entail, he quoted a good price so I went. I had moved recently so I couldn't go to my usual piercer, a friend got tattooed there so suggested I go for my piercing. The waiting room was really uncomfortable, everything was very dated and there was a window where you could see into his work space. It was also really gross. In the time I waited, I was worried he would just pierce me and I would have no privacy. I had seen him do several tattoos and piercings already, although none so private. When he pulled me back I had a large male friend with me for comfort (nipple piercings hurt more than genital piercings, in my experience). So in the room there was my friend, Jimi, his assistant, and myself. He made a joke, asking if I thought he would just leave everything open as his assistant closed the curtain to the window and shut the door to the room. Feeling better about it, I took off my top and bra. He assessed my nipples and then without gloves, he pulled on them (fairly gently, I'll give him that) to harden them. He worked without gloves up until he started unwrapping the sterile needles and curved barbell. He used a Sharpie to mark where the piercings would be (that's really gross and not at all sanitary) after he used his bare hands to sanitize my nipples. He pierced me, it hurt, and he used pliers (hardware store pliers) to tighten my piercing fully. After he finished the piercing he insisted on the aftercare he had in store, which I purchased. His pricing was fair and I left relatively happy, but knowing I would not be going back for another piercing. He made me feel uncomfortable.I always double aftercare times for piercings, so the 6 months for my nipples automatically defaulted into a year. I had read that discharge was normal so I went on happily. There were a few mishaps when I first got the piercing (shower poofs are bad, things snag and bleeding insues) but I thought it was healing okay.Fast forward to July 3rd, I take off my bra at the end of the day and my nipples were so sore. I couldn't stand anything touching them, my husband said they felt hot, and I actually missed work for it. I didn't sleep well because I'm a stomach sleeper and that couldn't happen. I went to a doctor and they told me it was infected and than I might have to take them out.I went to a piercer I trust and he explained the problem. The barbells are too small, apparently I have large nipples and he placed small curved barbells. After two years of my nipples essentially not healing, they started growing over the barbells. They started swelling and leaking pus. The piercer told me that he would replace them with something larger. He ended up having to cut them off of me after a very painful attempt of taking them off manually. I gave genital piercings and they were a million times less painful than having my nipples repierced. Having them cleaned stung so bad my toes curled, I left that piercer feeling worn out and achy. I ended up having to take a weeks worth of antibiotics and stock up on gauze and saline spray. I essentially have brand new piercings that are slightly in the wrong spot. They leak, get crusty, and I have to spray them down 3 times a day and wash them with special soap and water everyday. They're still slightly sore and I don't have to take them out (anymore) but I wish I had just gone and paid more with a better piercer. Read Less
