So it seems as though everyone on here loves Carolyn! And yesterday I got to see for myself why!! She is so sweet, so calm, she listens to your ideas and she gives you advice on what she feels might be better (unlike those other tattoo shops who won't tell if they think that idea or spot is not the best) she is so helpful!!The most important part though, she did the most beautiful tattoo for me! Better than I even imagined it! I couldn't be more happy that I went to Carolyn and the price she charged for it was RIDICULOUS for all that work she did!!!!!!! I keep staring at it and thinking to myself that I didn't tip her anywhere near enough! She also has a very light touch! It didn't hurt until a little over an hour and half into it when it started feeling raw! But when it did start to hurt she was so patient and so good at making sure I was doing okay!My sister got a tattoo from her as well and almost chickened out on finishing it because it was in such a painful spot, Carolyn was so good about getting it finished and not letting her chicken out! My sister couldn't be happier that Carolyn kept going too because it turned out AMAZING. Not to mention that bar down stairs is real fun! The bar tender is also super sweet and the cook even brought our tatter tots upstairs for us while I was getting tattooed! Where else can you get amazing tattoos, delicious tater tots, and the most patient tattoo artist ever!!!! We'll you don't have to wait no further because here it is....yelp.com/biz_photos/the-…yelp.com/biz_photos/the-…This isn't my first rodeo on the band wagon to getting a tattoo.  I actually already have one.  Wondering what it is.  Well my first Tattoo are 3 Asian Characters (Friendship, Trust, Love) on the bottom say "Gives You" it's located on the left lower back on my rib cage...then my last tattoo of a character is in a location that cannot be told in public. The tattoo was all in black and the one on my back actually tickled but the other one hurt like a mother f...ker.  I'm sure you get the hint.I wanted to get another tattoo but I wanted to be sure it was something I love because bottom line it's on your body permanently.  There's no magic marker eraser if you don't like it.  So after years, I finally realized the tattoo I wanted.  That was a butterfly.  If you're wondering why a butterfly what does it symbolize to me, if it has any symbolism.  We'll it does.  A butterfly starts off as a caterpillar (ugly) but evolves to a beautiful butterfly.  So much has happened in my life, good or bad.  Through all the bad, I've overcome it and learned to be the women, I am today.  Everyone evolves in their life; some people may not understand it and will not accept it.  It is up to decide to change your life to make it better.  Happiness is not given to you in a silver platter, you have to create it and make it happen.  Anyways, when I met with Carolyn at Clubhouse Tattoo, I instantly liked her.  She was super sweet.  She explained the process and I immediately booked the appointment.  Her cost is $120 per/hour.  During that week, I sent her pictures online of the type of tattoo I wanted.  When I arrived the day of my appointment she let me pick out the music to listen to (Usher of course), although the band downstairs later drowned out the music.She sketched a butterfly (by hand) for me and I loved it.  The detail was awesome.  I let her pick out the colors as long as it had blue in it, since it's my favorite color.  The result was beautiful.  Carolyn did all the vines, leaves and flowers free hand on my shoulder.  She is very talented.  I think the hardest part of getting the tattoo was doing it alone.  No one there to hold my hand and tell me it will be ok.  Half way through the process tears started coming down my eyes (like waterfalls).  Carolyn was so sweet she stopped and handed me a tissue and asked me if it was ok for me to get the tattoo.  I told her yes and I would be ok.  She had me talk to her throughout the entire process, so I could get my mind off of things.  I guess the butterfly holds more meaning that I thought.  I guess I am stronger than I expected.The most painful part of the entire tattoo was the color shading.  That's when I was gripping on the seat for dear life.  It really hurt.  In the end (3 hours later) I came out with a beautiful tattoo and she said if I need any touch up, to come in anytime and it's free. I highly recommend getting your tattoo done by Carolyn. She did a cover up for me and it turned out amazing. I  came in with an idea of what I wanted and she drew up a beautiful picture- her artwork is great. My tattoo took about 5 hours, and she was super easy to talk to- you will feel very comfortable here. Honestly, I was a tad weirded out by having to walk through a bar (and not a very nice one, I might add- no offense patrons of Elis mile high club, but you have to admit they don't try hard to make the place look good ;)   ), but I got over it pretty quick once I was in the shop and especially after talking to Carolyn. While I had a little bit of a hard time finding it at first, the rest of my experience here was fantastic.  I came here late December 2012 to get my first tattoo done.  It was relatively simple but had a decent amount of line work and Carolyn did a fantastic job at a wonderful price.  It took under an hour, but she didn't rush and was incredibly friendly and easy to talk to the entire time.  My friend has been tattooed here as well and hers came out beautifully before and after color.  It was an excellent experience and I'm already planning my next tattoo here! My tat is healed, looking great, and I wanted to give props to my girl Carolyn for being professional, fearless, and competent as well as a fun person to talk to. I found myself getting a tiny bit jealous as she was as genuinely friendly to other customers as she was to me. My visit was punctuated with occasional sounds of rowdiness from the bar downstairs but it only became a curiosity, not a nuisance.Get yourself in here and get inked! Read Less

You look for 3 things in a tattoo shop - cleanliness, skilled artists, and food nearby. Clubhouse has all three, with the bar/grill being downstairs! I've known Carolyn who inks there for years; she's one of the best artists I know, and has done 4 of my tattoos so far. Check it out! I have other friends that work in other shops around the bay, but Carolyn at Clubhouse is the only one I can recommend sincerely. Read Less

I have received Tattoos from Billy since I became legal 9 years ago. He has always conducted himself with professionalism. Club House Tattoo is an amazing place! not only do I feel welcomed every time but the food down stairs is great! Billy always sterilizes and keeps his work area pristine. He cares about his clients and his ample experience which allows for him too understand the different demands of peoples skin. He is very patient with my low pain tolerance and I am very grateful. He has a gentle hand and uses state of the art equipment with new needles every time. I trust his judgement and he is great with color! My husband has also received tattoos from Billy. He received a set of paying hands in black and white. The clubhouse tattoo shop is located directly above Eli's Mile high club. You have to walk in through Eli's and through to the back staircase in order to get to the shop.  I walked into Eli's and chatted with the manager for a bit about the clubs music history before venturing upstairs for my tattoo appointment. Clubhouse tattoo was origionally an old break room, where performers would prepare for their shows,  James Brown, J.J. Malone, Otis Grand, Etta James all graced their presence there to name just a few. They still have a wall of posters and memorabilia in the pool room showcasing all of the artists who performed there.  Being a history geek, I thought this was pretty badass. From the point that i walked into the door, the atmosphere was welcoming, I met with Billy, about a tattoo we had previously discussed over the phone.  He showed me the artwork he had come up with for the piece and at my approval, got started with the tattoo in a timely and efficient manner. Billy is extremely professional, His shop is clean, and orderly, and he has a gentle hand, Considering where I got my tattoo (around my collar bone area) It didn't hurt at all. Another note I wanted to add is price. The Clubhouse tattoo shop has very competitive prices, And with what great work I came out with, I feel I got a fantastic deal.  Many shops that i've gone to try to charge  'tourist' rates. Well,  you won't get that here!  Billy does wonderful cover up work and portraiture as well. I don't think there is anything that he can't do. All in all I had a top notch experience, and am looking forward to saving some $ to go back to both Clubhouse tattoo, and stop by Eli's when they have a show!Definitely worth more than a look. These guys are GREAT! Billy and Reggie use to work at Galaxxi in Berkley until it closed and now they have their own shop. My husband and I have had all our work done by both these guys over the years and they are AWESOME! They do great work and they are great people.
