Surprising that an owner would say such a lot of ignorant problematic things to customers//made me and my friend really uncomfortable. Very mellow, friendly environment AND the women working there are knowledgeable and completely professional. Mäuxe has done 4 new piercings for me, each one has been a good experience with perfect healing. Any time I needed follow-up advice or adjustment she would take time to make sure I was taken care of. Never spoke down to me or made me feel like an inconvenience. Most importantly I love my new piercings and jewelry-some of which she sourced specifically at my request! Mäuxe offers a 'piercing of the month' at a deep discount (remember to tip well!) that's always worth looking into. Absolutely book an appointment, though I've never had trouble walking in. Unfortunately, I didn't have a great experience at Painted Hand Tattoo. Like many of the previous reviewers here, I went for one of the "deal" days (2 for 1 Friendship Tattoos/Piercings). As it turns out, you get what you pay for. Pros: - It was only $15 for each helix piercing because of the 2 for 1 deal.- Mauxe ("Brightan Shiny") was a very no-frills piercer, but kind and down-to-earth. (Loved how she gave us little stuffed bunnies to hold on to for "guilt-free choking," and also appreciated the after-care guide)- Everyone working at the shop seemed to genuinely love their job and helping out their customers. Cons: - My friend set an appointment ahead of time for 2pm, but we had to wait 1.5 hours before finally getting called up around 3:30. Not too sure why they take appointments, since we were placed behind walk-ins. - Mauxe put on the earring pretty tight, not allowing space for the ear to swell. This caused some discomfort later on and we had to loosen the earring ourselves. - The hole was pierced with a 20-gauge needle, which didn't quite match with our other helix piercings (18 gauge). Admittedly, we didn't ask about the size and just decided on the cheapest option, but we're not too experienced with sizing and I feel like it should have been mentioned. - The business solicits 5-star reviews, offering 5% off for each review on Facebook, Yelp, and Google. Pretty sure this is against Yelp's TOS -- I'm not impressed with activity like this, since now I'm questioning each 5-star review on this page. Came here with a friend for the 2 for 1 Friendship Tattoos and our experience was great! Painted Hand Tattoo is located next to a narrow road so we had to drive around several times to try to find it as well as try to find parking. I think we even met the owner and she was absolutely lovely :) We worked with Leah and she was very quick with our yin yang tattoos. Pretty sure she just wanted it to get it done and over with asap but understandable since she probably had more people to work on. Regardless, she still did a rly clean job. We love this place! The atmosphere is relaxing and super comfortable. They host cool events and offer really good deals for high quality work. Mauxe (Brightan Shiny) is amazing!! She pierced my tragus and helix, as well as my boyfriend's helix, my friend's triple forward helix, and my other friend's nose. She will make you feel totally relaxed and ready to be pierced! I've been to Painted Hand Tattoo twice: once to accompany a friend of mine who was getting a large sleeve done, and the second time to get two tattoos of my own. Both times, the music selection was superb. The first time they played semi-old pop music. And this last time was more of 60s jazz and R&B. I worked with Maggie (longtime friend of my friend) as I have nothing but the utmost respect for her and her work. She's a wonderful artist and a terrific person.  I gave her the script for my tattoo and told her to take some creative liberties with the design (since I'm not much of an artist) and she did a great job. There were a few edits I requested and she made them quickly. The shop is very clean and professional. The other members of the staff are very friendly. I'm not entirely sure I'm going to get another tattoo. If I ever do decide to get a third, I will definitely be coming to Maggie. Read Less

I discovered Painted Hand Tattoo on facebook and saw that they have discount days ($25 for basic piercings and finger tattoos) every First Friday of the year. I've been dying to get my nose pierced and finally got it done here. I headed straight to PHT after work. I got there at 5:30pm and put my name down on the list. I filled out a waiver, they made a copy of my ID, and then I began to wait. I wish I brought my bf to wait with me... which he did offer, but I declined to save him the trouble, since it is a ways from home. What I thought would be a 1-1.5 hour wait turned out to be 2.5-3 hours :( I wish they gave me an estimate of how long the wait would be, but then again I didn't ask because I only saw 3-4 people listed before me. Lesson learned! Next time, I'll just pay full price to avoid the wait, haha.When it was finally my turn, I had the pleasure of meeting Maüxe. Turns out there was a whole group ahead of me who all got their ears done. Maüxe is the only piercer there and is a bit of a perfectionist, so she wanted to ensure she got them done right, which I appreciate. I was extremely nervous but Maüxe made me feel very comfortable and at ease. Ashley, one of the other ladies at PHT, was my designated hand holder (since I came alone). Maüxe walked me through the whole thing and next thing you know, I had a brand new piercing!I would definitely recommend this place, but be prepared for the wait on discount days! Read Less

I do NOT recommend getting a piercing here. I got two forward helix piercings during their flash sale on Valentines Day. They gave me absolutely no choice in jewelry, which I was ok with, since it was a sale. However, a week and a half later I had to go to a different shop to get them changed out because the girl used studs designed for lip rings instead of the proper size. They were so uncomfortable and were at the risk of healing improperly. Come to find out, not only was the jewelry size way too big for the placement, but it was also extremely low quality material and the second piercing is at an angle and may need to be taken out.  The girl made a mention that her jewelry order had not arrived in time while I was getting pierced, but I thought she was talking about different styles. If they didn't have the correct jewelry for the piercing I wanted they should have turned me away. Its completely unethical. Read Less

I love body art. I've also been a truck driver and served in the military. I've seen many shops across the country and some parts of the world, but I haven't seen this before. EDIT: The caller/my piercer retrieved my email from the receipt records and messaged me saying that their new phone tends to disconnect once in a while. I just found it odd that I didn't hear any "hello?" once the caller couldn't hear my voice anymore. I will give them the benefit of the doubt! I appreciated the email. I really wanted to like this place. Even gave it 5 stars originally on Facebook. Note: I normally don't leave reviews for any service or product unless I am completely dissatisfied or astounded. This place had a good vibe, is fairly new, staff seems pretty laid back, and my septum piercing went well. The piercer, Maux, was helpful and kind. However, it's been about a month since getting my piercing and even with diligent cleaning, I felt as if my piercing was infected. I originally called to ask about the familiarity of a brand of saline solution when I ended up asking about my potentially infected piercing. After stating that I wasn't sure why my piercing would be infected even after diligent cleaning, the receptionist (she sounded like the lady who pierced me) said with an obvious "whoops" and clearly hung up on me. I couldn't believe what had just happened and was so worried that the piercer might have known she messed up. I am still shocked by this incident and am worried about my piercing because I did not get the help I needed from the shop regarding my piercing. Read Less
