If you’re not willing to do everything yourself I don’t recommend going with Rob the owner. See the problem is that you will only meet Rob twice, the day you speak to him from far away while he’s tattooing to give him the deposit, and the day you actually get tattooed. The rest of the time (he’s booked 6 months in advance) you will deal with “Lala”, now talking to Lala is like playing Telephone with a brick wall. She will do everything she can to make sure her (and subsequently Rob) do as little work as possible other than the actual tattoo. Honestly I don’t even think Rob has any idea how lazy she was with me. She had me find the images, she had me arrange them in word to make the sleeve, she even had me size them, as they would not size them.. THEY WOULDN’T SIZE THE IMAGES. One time I sent her a brief explanation of the meaning of the tattoo to relay to Rob (so that we can all be in the same page, since he will be putting something on me for the rest of my life) and she wouldn’t do it, she kept saying It would be a waste of time and blah blah.. I mean, can you at least just take 1 minute for your customer who’s dropping 2k on a sleeve and read it? And if it doesn’t help, whatever, but at least you tried It out. Nothing, she would not do it, and so Rob would never know what I truly wanted, since Rob won’t talk to anyone. Anyways, after a 6 month wait, a deposit, and tons and tons of me doing all the work and back and forth, they called me a week before and cancelled saying they “weren’t the shop for me”.. After 6 months, all I had to show for was the image I found on goggle traced on trace paper, and the back of a naked man… They gave me the excuse that “the rest was thrown out”.. OK. Anyways, just go somewhere else. I’m sure Rob is a great guy but I wouldn’t know, and neither would you, because all you’ll get is Lala.. Read Less

Had a great experience here with "Gentle J" while on vacation, seeking a small heart tattoo.  Staff were friendly, courteous, and the shop was clean and bright. gentle J did a great job with my tattoo - perfect lighter touch for me.  Very little pain compared with other tattoos.  Will definitely return!! My daughter and I were looking for a place to get small tattoos. This was our first time, and we were nervous and didn't want to feel foolish.  Jay and Lopan were welcoming and encouraging...not at all condescending as we had feared these places could be. They took their time with the artwork to make sure they had captured our wishes correctly, and were meticulous artists. They did a great job explaining after care and gave us phone numbers for follow up. The place was clean and well-lit, and yet had a cool, retro feel. We'll most definitely come back for more. Super stoked with our tattoos from Brad! My sister and I have been talking for years about getting some kind of matching tattoo, it finally happened!  4 of us went in, 2 sets of sisters and got inked . Even though our tats are little and simple, Brads attention to detail really made them special. The whole staff was easy going, the place is spotlessly clean. I highly recommend these guys! Dan is the coolest, most laid back artist and he's brilliant! He knows his shit, it comes from him best when you surrender to the process of the artist. If I could go have a new tat every weekend I would! Everyone is so very cool there, never had a bad experience and I've been in there about half a dozen times now at least! And I'll be back!!! I spent all day Tuesday and all day Thursday working on my right arm sleeve that cleanest Studio I've ever been in the place is immaculate you could eat off the floor. All of the artist are very social and very good at what they do I highly recommend this this place. My artist Henry was understanding calm cool and collective and did what I asked. I will be back. This place is so professional. They made us feel very comfortable from the start and they worked to make sure we got what we wanted. I feel like I would be a tattooists nightmare, but Brad didn't skip a beat. He took my idea and made it so much better. He was so cool about me being unsure of where to put it and suggested the perfect spot. I WILL be back. Soon.The people were so personable it totally settled my nerves. I'm just not impressed. I bought a gift certificate for my spouse to get some work done on his mostly complete sleeve from a different artist and shop (artist moved away). Long story short it was a bad job. Lines were poor, a circle he wanted looks like a sad misshapen oval, artist kept trying to push flowers on my husband so matter how many times he sad no I'm not into flowers. No he didn't get flowers but still....listen to your client!!!!Plus it healed poorly. My husband is covered in tattoos so this is not our first rodeo. With so many amazing artists in the Bay Area I would not recommend this place. Read Less

My sister and I came here to get our first tattoos with Brad and left more than satisfied. He did an amazing job on our tattoos and was very friendly and easy going. We had originally went in to make a deposit for an appointment in November because he was all booked up over the weekend, since my sister lives out of town we were going to just come back when she was in again. To our luck Brad was nice enough to tattoo my sister that same day and asked for me to come in the following afternoon. We went in with a picture of what we wanted and Brad completely made it our own. I would definitely recommend this place & Brad. We both left super happy with the final result. Had some musical notes done on my wrist. Lines were too heavily done and blurry. Tattoo scarred and still looks scabby, 2 months later. The artist was by some out of town guy, but I didn't know that until he was halfway done. Too bad I just relied on the good things I heard about garage ink. Garage ink: if you're going to let drifters ink in your studio, make damned sure they are decent, because it's your reputation they're playing with.
