Went for my first time (not first tattoo) to Iron Sparrow and saw Shawn. Drove all the way from San Jose. Saw his work on a coworker and knew he would be great at tattooing what I wanted. He did an amazing job, got it done in a timely manner. Made sure I was comfortable the whole time and held good conversation! Just got my first color piece done here and I could not be happier with the entire experience. The shop is very clean and well-maintained and all of the artists working here are really chill, professional, and more importantly, talented. They use quality inks and are very safety-conscious. Yet another disappointing tattoo shop in Morgan Hill. My fiancé and I went in to have her foot finished after Sailor Ink dropped the ball. Shawn did a good job on her foot/ankle so I approached him about doing my back piece. He seemed excited about doing it so I gave him a deposit to start the artwork process. After a couple of weeks he wanted to set an appointment to get started. During the week leading up to the appointment I tried contacting Shawn to make sure he would be ...ready. No reply. I stopped by the night before the appointment and he wasn't able to show me any artwork. He said he wasn't going to be ready by the appointment time. He told me he'd have something to show me the next evening. Nothing. I waited two days to try and contact him. Again, no reply. He finally answered the next day and again promised to have the artwork ready in a day or so. This went on a cycle of promises and no replies from him for several days. I finally was tired of being treated like an asshole for trying to pay him to do work for me and said I wanted my deposit back. He said it wasn't refundable but agreed to. I wasn't happy leaving things this way with Shawn so I made two more attempts to try and patch things up. Again, not even the courtesy of a "no thank you." This experience has given more credence to my belief that just because someone is a good artist doesn't mean they should own a business.
