UPDATE2 - I'm on your Yelp page now using the app and Facebook and no mention of ID for minors. UPDATE - Melissa, if you are claiming that you didn't receive a message from me then you need to see what's wrong with your website. I messaged you twice and called and left voicemails. I decide to call yesterday and was extremely excited you answered and surprised that you had something same day. I specifically told the girl (I think it was Sam) that this was for my daughter. Not once did she mention my daughter needed ID. I didn't get your info from yelp, I specifically used your website, when I couldn't get through via the phone in Jan., so if yelp had this info I wasn't aware. Either way, I should have been told. Also he called you within minutes of me leaving. I just got into my car when he called me. I know they are human and mistakes happen, but that was important information I needed. It's their job, not mine, to tell the customer what to bring regardless if age was given or not. It should be standard procedure. To be honest, I don't recall having to bring identification for my daughter the last time. That was approx 5years ago, how was I to remember? And what if I was anew client and didn't know anything? I understand the law and his need to comply. Why couldn't he have tried al least to accommodate me even if the end outcome was still a no? When your dealing with people they should always feel that you are truly sorry and you made an effort to accommodate them he did neither. He waited until I got pissed off stormed out. Not cool. Now I have to find another place and she has to wait longer. - JM 5/26/19I want to note- we have been here before and had a wonderful experience. But this time around, we did not.Back in January of this year I made an effort to message the piercer/owner Melissa in regards to getting my daughters ears re-pierced. I never received a response so I called and left a voicemail. Again nothing. Followed up a few weeks later nothing. I could never even get anyone on the phone. We let it go told my daughter she'll just have to wait. She brought it up again just today and I called to see if they'd had availability and checking pricing. They happened to answer and had a booking within the hour so we booked and I rushed over from Gilroy, during Mushroom Mardi Gra struggled to find parking to make it there on time. Once we arrived the piercer (can't remember his name) looked at her ears and then tells me "oh btw, minors require a form of photo ID" I'm like "why wasn't I told this upon booking the apt? The girl (I guess the tattoo artist) didn't mention it to me when I booked." He told me "do you want to reschedule?" And I'm like "no." She knew it was for my daughter yet she failed to tell me. I told him "I have ID," but he insisted my daughter needed one (she is 11). I asked him "can we email it to you, I'll have her dad send a picture." He said "no. I need a physical copy." I became frustrated and gave him a piece of my mind. I also asked if I could talk to the owner he said she wasn't there and also asked for a card, he said to contact her via the email. (He was aware of my previous contact issue back in Jan.) I told him forget it and left. As I got to my car, I get a phone call from him. I guess he decided to call the owner AFTER I left. AFTER he refused to call when I was present. She said go ahead and do it if I'm still around. I appreciate her accommodating me, but the piercer should have called the owner when I asked NOT AFTER this blew up. I told him no and refused to ever do business there again. Just a note to the owner- The tattoo artist shouldn't be taking calls for piercings if she's not properly informed of what is needed from the clients.How can they be properly prepared before driving down so they are not turned away? This could have been avoided if 1) the website was properly updated with this very valuable information 2) All employees were trained to know what is needed when working with minors so they can inform people when booking and 3) when someone asks for a manager, you get the damn manager.

They triple check you are happy before doing anything permanent. During the tattoos they check in to make sure youre doing play and check if you need a break. Definitely my go to shop.

I started my Hawaiian tatau journey with Mosa Fotu a year ago. It started with 2 tattoos, 1 on my left arm and 1 on my left leg to honor my maternal grandmother from Hilo, Hawai'i. Along the way the great Sam Rusk added a beautiful King Kamehameha statue tattoo; she does amazing artwork! Now the collaboration is becoming a full bodysuit! So happy with my experience here!I have been following El Toro for a while, having been introduced to an artist's work through a friend. One day I was thinking about a piece I had in mind for a while, and I finally got a vision of what I wanted. As I scrolled through their site I found a guest artist at the studio - Mosa - who does Polynesian style work. I immediately called and set up a consult.When I went down, my wife decided to join me and talk to someone about her first tattoo. She talked to Marty while I talked to Mosa. Both took our non-artist "I have this idea in my head" framework and ran with it - and they did a great job.First, Marty - Super talented and made her first experience memorable. He spent a lot of time refining the image to exactly what she wanted, and he did a great job at it. He is a great artist with an eye for detail and knowledge of good craftsmanship and artistry. As a bonus, he knows how to work a tattoo gun well! He also owns the shop and I can tell he runs a tight ship, and it pays off - this shop is super clean, super inviting, and exactly what I am looking for when I spend a lot of money and a lot of time on something I want to wear proudly and permanently. My wife loves her piece and had a great experience with Marty.Second, Mosa. This guy went above and beyond to bring my image to life so to speak. He is currently finishing my half sleeve and every time I look at it I am just wow'ed by what he has accomplished from my very rough draft of an idea. He managed to blend a bold idea into a beautiful work of art and it really speaks to what I wanted from the piece. Working with him has been a great experience and I could not say enough great things about how he works and the talent that he brings to your tattoo experience.Finally, I will also note that Sam works out of the shop too and it was her work that I first spotted on a friend. She uses color to her advantage in a cartoon-oriented style, and her work really stands out and pops if you are looking for something in that vein.All in all, great shop, talented artists, clean digs, and just a fun place to get work done!

Great shop, the entire team is Fantastic!! During my sessions I got to watch them work with a variety of customers getting both tattoos as well as piercings. They were knowledgeable, accommodating, and most importantly friendly. I've been in customer service over 15 years and if there is one thing I know to hold true it is that you cannot fake sincerity and the genuine desire to make the customers experience pleasant, and they did just that. Sam did an awesome job of not o⋯⋯nly tattooing but of communicating and explaining the process. She took her time and showed a real sense of pride in her work. We gave him a design that he modified and made original perfectly. Everyone in the shop was really, really welcoming, polite and professional and the shop is spotless. We shopped around before coming here and I'm so glad we did because I don't think you can put a price on something that's on your body permanently and they totally exceeded our expectations professionally and artistically. We will definitely be coming back.

I went to another shop and got my nostril pierced, which ended up being a big mistake. My jewelry was not put in correctly, and I really wasn't keen on the idea of going back to the same piercer to have it fixed. I desperately called El Toro, explained my situation, and they were able to get me in the very next day to take a look. Melissa put me right at ease; she seemed to know exactly what to do and went straight to work. She actually took the time to explain the different jewelry to me beforehand and talked me through everything she was doing, as she was doing it. It was exactly the kind of experience I wanted and should have had the first time around. I left with a MUCH better fitting, correctly installed piece of jewelry and a huge sense of relief. Thank you Melissa and El Toro staff! HIGHLY recommend!

I had an amazing experience here for my first non-earlobe piercing. I wanted to get the industrial but Melissa was honest with me and stated my ear was not a good fit for that piercing because of my ear lobe shape and that it probably wouldn't heal properly. This showed me how experience she was to know that which instantly made me feel better about the whole thing. I ended up getting the tragus instead and it went very well. It hardly hurt and Melissa was explaining everything as she was doing it which made me feel calm. She's so friendly and so is the front desk staff. FYI the shop is located on the second floor, I got lost looking for it and was late for my appt. but they were still willing to take me. :)

I really needed a piercer i could trust, and was experienced. I came across this shop right here in my home town! I called, and made an appointment. When I walked in, I was greeted by Daniel..he's super nice, and we geeked out on our similar tattoo theme together! I liked him a lot! Melissa did my piercings! She's great! Friendly, experienced, professional. I'm so glad to have gone there. I had a great first experience with this shop, and I know I will be back. They also have a really nice selection of piercing jewelry in the shop. Melissa told me they also do special orders. I will definitely go back!

Finally, as part of a 2014 New Years resolution, we decided to take the plunge and started investigating shops. Based on friend referrals and the Yelp reviews, we ended up at El Toro Body Shop. As tattoo virgins, we wanted to find a place that "fit" us. The shop was clean, professional and very mellow. We meet Marty and he referred us to a brand new artist Brandon based on what we were looking for. Brandon was very patient and explained everything in detail. I brought in six different dragon pictures each with a different piece/ body section I wanted. Brandon created the perfect image that fit me. My wife just explained what she wanted and he converted the description into a perfect picture for her review. My wife had one four hour session. I had two sessions of 6 hrs and 3 hrs to finish my dragon. We were in the shop quite a bit over several weeks. I watched Marty, Sam and Brandon work. All true professionals that made us feel comfortable. We saw four to five other tattoos completed. All great work. The results are awesome and we both highly recommend El Toro Body shop no matter what you're looking for. Check out the results. Amazing!

UPDATE2 - I'm on your Yelp page now using the app and Facebook and no mention of ID for minors. UPDATE - Melissa, if you are claiming that you didn't receive a message from me then you need to see what's wrong with your website. I messaged you twice and called and left voicemails. I decide to call yesterday and was extremely excited you answered and surprised that you had something same day. I specifically told the girl (I think it was Sam) that this was for my daughter. Not once did she mention my daughter needed ID. I didn't get your info from yelp, I specifically used your website, when I couldn't get through via the phone in Jan., so if yelp had this info I wasn't aware. Either way, I should have been told. Also he called you within minutes of me leaving. I just got into my car when he called me. I know they are human and mistakes happen, but that was important information I needed. It's their job, not mine, to tell the customer what to bring regardless if age was given or not. It should be standard procedure. To be honest, I don't recall having to bring identification for my daughter the last time. That was approx 5years ago, how was I to remember? And what if I was anew client and didn't know anything? I understand the law and his need to comply. Why couldn't he have tried al least to accommodate me even if the end outcome was still a no? When your dealing with people they should always feel that you are truly sorry and you made an effort to accommodate them he did neither. He waited until I got pissed off stormed out. Not cool. Now I have to find another place and she has to wait longer. - JM 5/26/19I want to note- we have been here before and had a wonderful experience. But this time around, we did not.Back in January of this year I made an effort to message the piercer/owner Melissa in regards to getting my daughters ears re-pierced. I never received a response so I called and left a voicemail. Again nothing. Followed up a few weeks later nothing. I could never even get anyone on the phone. We let it go told my daughter she'll just have to wait. She brought it up again just today and I called to see if they'd had availability and checking pricing. They happened to answer and had a booking within the hour so we booked and I rushed over from Gilroy, during Mushroom Mardi Gra struggled to find parking to make it there on time. Once we arrived the piercer (can't remember his name) looked at her ears and then tells me "oh btw, minors require a form of photo ID" I'm like "why wasn't I told this upon booking the apt? The girl (I guess the tattoo artist) didn't mention it to me when I booked." He told me "do you want to reschedule?" And I'm like "no." She knew it was for my daughter yet she failed to tell me. I told him "I have ID," but he insisted my daughter needed one (she is 11). I asked him "can we email it to you, I'll have her dad send a picture." He said "no. I need a physical copy." I became frustrated and gave him a piece of my mind. I also asked if I could talk to the owner he said she wasn't there and also asked for a card, he said to contact her via the email. (He was aware of my previous contact issue back in Jan.) I told him forget it and left. As I got to my car, I get a phone call from him. I guess he decided to call the owner AFTER I left. AFTER he refused to call when I was present. She said go ahead and do it if I'm still around. I appreciate her accommodating me, but the piercer should have called the owner when I asked NOT AFTER this blew up. I told him no and refused to ever do business there again. Just a note to the owner- The tattoo artist shouldn't be taking calls for piercings if she's not properly informed of what is needed from the clients.How can they be properly prepared before driving down so they are not turned away? This could have been avoided if 1) the website was properly updated with this very valuable information 2) All employees were trained to know what is needed when working with minors so they can inform people when booking and 3) when someone asks for a manager, you get the damn manager.

So happy with my experience here!I have been following El Toro for a while, having been introduced to an artist's work through a friend. One day I was thinking about a piece I had in mind for a while, and I finally got a vision of what I wanted. As I scrolled through their site I found a guest artist at the studio - Mosa - who does Polynesian style work. I immediately called and set up a consult.When I went down, my wife decided to join me and talk to someone about her first tattoo. She talked to Marty while I talked to Mosa. Both took our non-artist "I have this idea in my head" framework and ran with it - and they did a great job.First, Marty - Super talented and made her first experience memorable. He spent a lot of time refining the image to exactly what she wanted, and he did a great job at it. He is a great artist with an eye for detail and knowledge of good craftsmanship and artistry. As a bonus, he knows how to work a tattoo gun well! He also owns the shop and I can tell he runs a tight ship, and it pays off - this shop is super clean, super inviting, and exactly what I am looking for when I spend a lot of money and a lot of time on something I want to wear proudly and permanently. My wife loves her piece and had a great experience with Marty.Second, Mosa. This guy went above and beyond to bring my image to life so to speak. He is currently finishing my half sleeve and every time I look at it I am just wow'ed by what he has accomplished from my very rough draft of an idea. He managed to blend a bold idea into a beautiful work of art and it really speaks to what I wanted from the piece. Working with him has been a great experience and I could not say enough great things about how he works and the talent that he brings to your tattoo experience.Finally, I will also note that Sam works out of the shop too and it was her work that I first spotted on a friend. She uses color to her advantage in a cartoon-oriented style, and her work really stands out and pops if you are looking for something in that vein.All in all, great shop, talented artists, clean digs, and just a fun place to get work done!

Great shop, the entire team is Fantastic!! During my sessions I got to watch them work with a variety of customers getting both tattoos as well as piercings. They were knowledgeable, accommodating, and most importantly friendly. I've been in customer service over 15 years and if there is one thing I know to hold true it is that you cannot fake sincerity and the genuine desire to make the customers experience pleasant, and they did just that. Sam did an awesome job of not o⋯⋯nly tattooing but of communicating and explaining the process. She took her time and showed a real sense of pride in her work. I went to another shop and got my nostril pierced, which ended up being a big mistake. My jewelry was not put in correctly, and I really wasn't keen on the idea of going back to the same piercer to have it fixed. I desperately called El Toro, explained my situation, and they were able to get me in the very next day to take a look. Melissa put me right at ease; she seemed to know exactly what to do and went straight to work. She actually took the time to explain the different jewelry to me beforehand and talked me through everything she was doing, as she was doing it. It was exactly the kind of experience I wanted and should have had the first time around. I left with a MUCH better fitting, correctly installed piece of jewelry and a huge sense of relief. Thank you Melissa and El Toro staff! HIGHLY recommend!

I had an amazing experience here for my first non-earlobe piercing. I wanted to get the industrial but Melissa was honest with me and stated my ear was not a good fit for that piercing because of my ear lobe shape and that it probably wouldn't heal properly. This showed me how experience she was to know that which instantly made me feel better about the whole thing. I ended up getting the tragus instead and it went very well. It hardly hurt and Melissa was explaining everything as she was doing it which made me feel calm. She's so friendly and so is the front desk staff. FYI the shop is located on the second floor, I got lost looking for it and was late for my appt. but they were still willing to take me. :)

I LOVE El Toro. Marty has been tattooing me for 6 plus years now and does an amazing job every time. It's always super clean and the entire staff is very friendly. Since I started going to Marty I've reffered many friends, boyfriend and sisters. They have all been extremely happy with his work. Truly an amazing artist!

First, let me state that my wife and I are in our late forties and have talked about getting tattoos for 20 yrs. until the kids got out of the house, we were always reluctant. Finally, as part of a 2014 New Years resolution, we decided to take the plunge and started investigating shops. Based on friend referrals and the Yelp reviews, we ended up at El Toro Body Shop. As tattoo virgins, we wanted to find a place that "fit" us. The shop was clean, professional and very mellow. We meet Marty and he referred us to a brand new artist Brandon based on what we were looking for. Brandon was very patient and explained everything in detail. I brought in six different dragon pictures each with a different piece/ body section I wanted. Brandon created the perfect image that fit me. My wife just explained what she wanted and he converted the description into a perfect picture for her review. My wife had one four hour session. I had two sessions of 6 hrs and 3 hrs to finish my dragon. We were in the shop quite a bit over several weeks. I watched Marty, Sam and Brandon work. All true professionals that made us feel comfortable. We saw four to five other tattoos completed. All great work. The results are awesome and we both highly recommend El Toro Body shop no matter what you're looking for. Check out the results. Amazing!
