About 2 years ago I went here wanting to get my first tattoo. I wanted a quote saying, "Beauty is found within." On my collar bone. It was my mom's handwriting and pretty small. I got the tattoo from kristina. The actual tattooing process was good but when it came to pricing it was ridiculous. I asked her how much it would be before the appointment and she said between 150-180. This being my first tattoo I didn't realize that was way overpriced. After the tattoo was finished she said it would be 180. Me being a waitress I also tipped her so it totalled to 210. I feel that she took advantage of the fact that this was my first tattoo and made it overpriced. It was on me for tipping but she shouldn't of charged that amount. I recently got a sleeve from Earthbound Tattoo by Casper Callaway and it was 150 and with the tip 170. You can go else where and get a fairly priced high quality tattoo. Don't go here. Read Less

I travelled to Monterey on vacation and before I left Vermont I knew that I wanted to get a tattoo in California in honor of my Dad who just recently passed. Both of the tattoos I had done this week are beautiful and excellently crafted.  They toke an idea of mine and artfully drew it into perfection.  They input their ideas and creativity but also made sure what they created is what I wanted.  My tattoos were done by guest artists  (Chuck and Randy) and from what I've seen Dave and his crew are every bit as awesome and talented. I came in today suffering from grief after losing my grandmother, the most important adult in my life. We talked through some ideas and he designed the most beautiful butterfly from her favorite coffee cup. I was comfortable and laughed more in those couple of hours than I have the last 2 days. I specifically sought out Dave for my next tattoo because of his outstanding reputation in american traditional tattoos. I didn't have a piece in this style yet and have been searching for the right artist.I have been wanting to get a memorial piece for one of my great aunts who I was very close to. When she passed I was given her recipe box that sat on her kitchen counter for decades. I'm a chef and so was my grandfather so this piece is very sentimental to me. I brought the recipe box in to the shop, met Dave, decided on placement, and asked him to draw it up however he saw artistically fit. While I waited for him to finish working on a client, and for him to draw it up, I was recommended to a place for lunch and given a coupon for a free app too!When I came back from lunch Dave had finished the sketch and it was perfect. After making sure I loved the placement, he began his work, and finished the fairly large piece in about two hours. The lines are perfect, the color is bold, and the whole piece is healing beautifully! Dave was very professional, clean, and keeps an extremely clean shop. At first when I went to put down a deposit they were very friendly and I showed them a rough sketch of an idea I had. All they said was "okay, that looks cool."I showed up for my appointment and the drawing she had was different than what I had originally wanted. I told her that and she said that putting all of the images in one small design would be confusing on the eye, which I tried to understand, but I was still set on my original idea. I then asked since the design that she came up with wasn't what I wanted if maybe I could just get a different tattoo like a flower. She told me that my deposit wouldn't count towards a different tattoo because it was for the tattoo that she came up with. However, changing what I wanted at this point seemed impossible so I was unsure if I should still get it. Then she offered to draw up another design- very similar to the one that I had originally wanted. I don't know if she was just having a bad day because she seems like a very friendly person and I don't want to assume based on my experience. She could have been mad at the fact that I was on a very tight budget of $200 for that day. (Although I think that is a reasonable price since I wanted a small tattoo) The tattoo ended up turning out good, and I understand that the tattoo artists are very focused on quality and the longevity of the piece. I just feel that she was more focused on what she wanted to do and not what I wanted. Read Less

Both me and my husband have been coming here for the last few years. Between us we have 6 tattoos (some small, some large) from both Dave and Kristina. They (and Noah!) are super friendly, they have impeccable standards of cleanliness and are very professional. The art is always beyond amazing, clean, bright and heals well. I wouldn't go anywhere else! A few tips for those of you on the market for a tattoo (particularly if it's your first):1. Look at the reviews of other artists. If they have bad customer service, if their clients have to go elsewhere to get the work fixed, if their clients complain of infection, avoid!2. Resist the urge to bargain shop your tattoo, it's going to be on you forever, it's worth investing in a good artist.3. Last, you should see the work before they start the ink. If you don't like it, say so. A good artist will work with you and try to get it right. My last piece by Kristina was almost all her own vision (I trusted her to draw me up something awesome) and she did, it's even better than what I could have come up with! Read Less

I came in for a flash Friday deal and was absolutely thrilled with my experience! My tattoo was done by Kristina and she really did an amazing job! The design I picked out was detailed and very colorful and I was a little nervous for it, but Kristina was super friendly and talkative and made sure I was comfortable the whole time. I am SO PLEASED with the results! Fresh, the tattoo was stunning. The healing process was the least painful and the shortest out of my 4 tattoos. I am so amazed at how quickly it healed and how little it itched during the process. I know this is due more to the attention and care I gave it, but I think it goes to show that they run a tight ship at American Monarch. Great work, confident artist, love the results.I had a tattoo I'd planned out for ages done at a shop found whole traveling over my 30th birthday(not enough research, or shopping around). While I got what I asked for, the artist didn't inform me of the need for colour contrast to keep a vibrant tattoo, and a majority of the original ink just didn't take. Since I was traveling, there was not a feasible way for me to go back and have it fixed.Dave Sinor consulted me on the best choices improve the look and lifetime of the tatto- he essentially did a whole coverup in well less than half the time (and pain) of the original artist.
