Wow! This is my joint! I got my first tattoo here by Thiago & he really killed it. My baby looks amazing & really looks like some classical art. It was extremely sanitary & it was breeze. I got it on my ribs and from what I have heard it's a sensitive place to get a tattoo, especially your first one but Thiago was very quick yet made my tattoo look amazing!!! Healing was no problem. Just don't do some stupid shiz for a few days after you get it done. I recommend all my friends to come here & the prices are reasonable and hefty for what you get out of it. Read Less

It was a nice place; I got my first Tattoo here. My tattoo artist was pretty cool. Their minimum is $100 and I ended paying a total of $120 for my entire Tattoo, which is small. However I do keep hearing that for a tattoo like mine that is lines with no shading, I got over charged. Its a nice place but you should definitely check out other places going here. Read Less

This one goes out to Casey Price, the king of DTLA tattooing!  He is a killer artist and a super nice guy.  After I had pretty much given up on ever covering up a bad decision, I walked in certain he could do it after Insta-stalking him.  He was immediately welcoming, had ideas, and was happy to cover up a very challenging foot tattoo.  This is after multiple artists had immediately turned me down and told me the only option was laser removal. Casey didn't hesitate, he instantly took on the challenge.  And, he free-handed it!  None of my other tattoos were free-handed, so it was really rad to watch that part of the process, and since he's simply an amazing artist, I could tell right away it'd be perfect.  He is really light with his needle.  Even after my foot had been worked on for three hours, it still wasn't unbearable.  I can't say enough about how amazing the tattoo came out!  It came out even better then I had imagined in my mind.  His lines are crazy clean and the color saturation is insane...and, the monstrosity that was on my foot when I walked in is completely covered...you'd never know it was there!  Pricing is beyond fair; I was totally prepared to pay double what it cost, especially for the quality of work.  It is cash only, so bring a wad of bills and get some awesome work done! Also, the shop is awesome.  The other artists were doing amazing work while I was there, and they were super welcoming to walk ins that came through.  It's cool cause they're all really good tattooers and can clearly conquer any style of tattoo, but they each have their own personalities and styles, so there's a good variety of artists to choose from to suit you.  They play good tunes and all the artists are chill and like to laugh.  Plus, next door you can get coffee, or grab some drinks across the street.  It's very clean...even the bathroom is super clean.  It's a really nice family vibe, and while you're there, you feel like part of the family!  I will most definitely be going back for more! I came across this tattoo shop while walking in Downtown looking for a apartment. I walked into the shop and met Casey. IG @kingcaseytattoo When I met Casey I had an unfinished sleeve on my right arm. I explained to him in detail what I wanted to fix. He right away consulted with me and came up with a solution. I trusted him off the bat. Keep in mind I had been looking for tattoo artist for over 4-5 years to finish my arm. Nobody wanted to touch it or I just didn't like there work. We set an appointment to have our first session. I immediately noticed the difference after our first session and new that this was going to be a dope ass tattoo. Late the other night, my roommates and I spontaneously decided to get tattoos/piercings and we made the BEST decision by heading to Crimson Unicorn. Not only was everyone super friendly from the moment we walked in, but they walked us all through every step of the process. Joe especially helped me through my nose piercing, and made me feel much more comfortable about my first piercing! He walked me through the entire process and made sure I understood exactly what he was using. I felt completely calm and it was so quick I didn't even realize it was happening until it was over! Usually when I look for an artist to do a piece, I look at their work, their line qualities, and color attributes. This is when I came across Casey and his work on his Instagram and wanted him to do a piece for me. The shop is in the heart of downtown Los Angeles and is very cool as well, as soon as you walk in, you can feel the artistry in the air. There are paintings and stickers to represent the artists and their style. It's clean and openly spaced out. The piece that I wanted was that of Ralph Steadman's Hunter Thompson drawing. The details in my tattoo are so insane; highly meticulous and pristine. I'm in love with my tattoo! Casey has a steady hand and takes his time to make your tattoo is of the best quality. His pricing is great too! Also a very laid back, friendly guy! I'm very happy with my tattoo and Casey's quality of work. Definitely recommend if you want a great well done tattoo! I picked Crimson Unicorn because, to be honest, they took walk-ins and were within walking distance of the hotel I was staying at. Fortunately for me I had a great experience there! I walked in and was almost immediately set up with Christos- it was a great match as I'm pretty reserved and shy and Christos was also more reserved (in contrast to the rest of the shop members who were very exuberant). I felt very comfortable letting him know what I wanted and he was patient and did an excellent job. It was a very good experience and I'd totally recommend him to others.What stops my review from being 5 stars is that while it says on yelp that they take credit cards, I got through my tattoo and found out they'd lost the card reader and couldn't take cards. Dylan told me about venmo and I ended up setting that up on my phone to send him the money to pay Christos. It was fortunate that this turned out to be an option, but their yelp page should be updated to reflect their payment options. Read Less

I definitely found my new go-to tattoo shop. I walked in spontaneously on a Wednesday afternoon and was greeted promptly by Christos. Spoke to him briefly about wanting to get a tattoo done of a realistic ladybug on my wrist. Lucky for me, he had availabity so of course I went ahead and got inked. Christos started right away on a sketch of my ladybug after a few minor changes, and after a brief wait, a quick setup of his station I was tattooed and I was very happy with the outcome as you can see in the photo it was everything I pictured in my mind but much better. I had a great experience at The Crimson Unicorn this afternoon while receiving my first tattoo. Alex Holiday took my design and elevated it to perfection. His professionalism and care was superb. He even researched the type of shading and fur that a ferret would have! I thought that was wonderful! I would definitely recommend him and The Crimson Unicorn to others. Thank you for making my first tattoo experience a good one!The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because their website is out of date and their Yelp page still says closed on Mondays. I looked here to see opening times and it was wrong. Also, Alex Holiday is not listed as an artist at the store on their website. Not being able to see any of his work displayed on their page made me anxious (I am a researcher by nature and this was my first tattoo).
