My sister-in-law and I had a fantastic experience at Oak & Poppy today. I have heard from a few clients that this was the "go-to place" for piercings due to their wide selection of jewelry and their high standards of being sanitary. They were not kidding! I had the hardest time picking out what jewelry I wanted because there were so many options. The one thing that helped was my budget ;) But you can go from a decent price all the way up to real gold and genuine diamonds. They have every shape, color and size! It was impressive! There was a line when we arrived around 12:30pm, however we were in no rush and they were very sweet about making sure we were acknowledged. We signed the waiver and then spoke to someone about the pricing and got to see what different jewelry looked like up against our ears. They offer these awesome studs that have a titanium (or gold) post and then you pick the front piece. Once we picked out our selection we were brought back to the piercing room. KARI was our piercer who was amaze balls! She was super friendly, professional, funny and knowledgeable about piercings. It was cleaner than a doctors office in there! She wore gloves, opened new tools, and sanitized every aspect from my current earrings to my ears. She was lovely and explained every step of the process as she pierced my ears. I was having my second holes re-pierced so she was able to use a different tool than the typical needle and I seriously barely felt it! She was so fast and super gentle. I HIGHLY recommend KARI- hint she's there on Tuesday's! I got my septum pierced here as my first piercing ever and had a great experience. Originally I was only coming in as a spectator for two of my friends who were getting some ear piercings. At the front desk Kimberly was super friendly and helpful while walking us through the process of picking out jewelry, placement, and the after care and cleaning process of the piercings. She took her time to make sure any and every question we had was answered and understood while Sean, our piercer, was prepping. At this point I still hadn't decided to get my own piercing, as I'd always been on the fence about getting my septum pierced, but after watching them take my friends through the process I decided to get mine done as well. It was already closing time and Sean and Kimberly still took the extra time to make sure I was comfortable and getting the jewelry and placement I wanted. It was my first time here today and I loved everything about it. I didn't make an appointment and just walked in, and it was very busy but Kimberly at reception was very sweet, attentive and helpful. I had my ears pierced somewhere else yesterday but didn't like the placement, partially because I felt rushed because they were busy too. After 10 years of having back dermals, I needed to get them removed due to the skin on one of them starting to grow over the piercing. Earlier in the day, I visited another shop in Ventura County who told me that even though they typically remove them, they couldn't remove mine and that I needed to go to an urgent care because it needed to be "cut" and they couldn't do it. I ended up calling The Oak & Poppy to see if they could do it and both people I talked to were extremely friendly and helpful. I was very nervous going in to get my nosed pierce for the third time. This was my first time at oak & poppy. I came in on a Sunday it was pretty busy there was three other people getting pierced before me. So the wait was like 40 minutes. They had so many beautiful jewelry to choose from! And it's all real jewelry. I was informed that when I had my last piercing that it kept having a little bubble around my nose piercing because of nickel jewelry. My piercing tech. I went by to get a tat on June 6. I scheduled an appointment with Fabiola. She is the best tattoo artist I've had (I have 4 tattoos, four different artists). Their shop minimum is $100, and charge $180/hour. It's a little out of my budget, but due to the good reviews, I took a chance. They have a website (oakandpoppy.com) where you can check out the artists' galleries. I saw her work, and was impressed. Although it happened organically, as she answered the phone when I called to set an appointment.I'm very pleased with my tattoo. It had a dear meaning (represented my dad), and I'm so happy. Okay so I call and speak to Kimberly on the phone. Can I just say she's the sweetest, most polite and calm person on the phone and in person. I decided on a whim that I wanted a nostril piercing. Sean is the best. I saw him about a year ago to replace some jewelry in my nostril that 2 previous piercers had severely messed up. I went back a few months later and he pierced my septum. Just recently went back for him to pierce my lobe in preparation for an orbital piercing. This place was awesome!I got my first tattoo from here today and everything went perfectly. I first dropped in last week and I met Fabiola, who showed me the different work that the artists do. I decided to go with her because her style matched what I wanted to get. I scheduled to come back in a week later and emailed her a few photos of what I was thinking. When I dropped in, she showed me her sketch of the tulip that I wanted. It had her own style along with elements of the photos I sent her. When tattooing, she was extremely professional. She explained each step before doing it and did an amazing job. She also explained how to care for the tattoo and allowed me to adjust or change it (more or less shading) as she was tattooing. Ok, so today i was referred to this marvelous looking place so I decided to stop in because I was working in the area. I entered and began to look around at the photos on the wall. I was patiently waiting just for a staff member to at least acknowledge me. Granted they were busy so I continued to look.
