I haven't been in years since before they started working on the train station for Crenshaw but it's a chill place.. I wanted the owner to do my tat but like always he was busy makin his money doin a customer back so I got a simple heart on my chest and let me tell you when they say $20 tattoo's that's EXACTLY WHATCHA GONNA GET.. This young white or hispanic guy did it i told him the WIDTH I WANTED AND THE SIZE.. AND HE TOLD ME I WOULD HAVE TO PAY MORE!! And NOT TO MENTION.. WHEN HE WAS DONE IT LOOKS LiKE THE SIZE OF A SILVER DOLLAR PIECE!! My friend and I drove from Camarillo to go to Dave's  because she knew the prices were low, and she follows him on Instagram and trusted his work. We walk in and we're helped immediately. The staff was very helpful, friendly, and welcoming. My friend got her tattoo done with Dave within 15 minutes and got exactly what she wanted. My card wasn't working so I had to pull money out from an atm nearby, and even though it took a while, Dave was waiting for me when I got back. It was my first tattoo so I was extremely indecisive about where I wanted it. He didn't try to rush me or make me uncomfortable in any way, and dismissed my apologies for being so complicated. When I couldn't decide on a placement for it, he gave me advice, and gave me time to think about it. The girls working in there were also very nice and helpful when I asked what looked best. I am IN LOVE with my tattoo! Dave did excellent and quick work on me, and cracked jokes with me throughout the process to ease my nerves. The owner is perverted .very unwelcoming to say the least I was there a couple weeks ago with my friend the tall guy with glasses did her tattoo and the lines came out croocket and its starting to look infected. Easy to find location across the street from Leimert Park. Pricing starts at $20 for piercings. How cheap! Location is very clean and the staff uses new, sanitized equipment. Friendly staff, very knowledgeable about piercings. Ask for Shelly if you prefer that a female assist you for piercings where the sun don't shine, but Dave pierces as well. TUI IS AMAZING!!! I won't go to anyone else ~ I had 8 small symbol tattoos placed on the inside of my fingers which is a tough area to do. Tui took plenty of time to talk through each one, to give me his thoughts on which worked or which we might need to adjust. When we decided and had moved on to the stencil portion, he painstakingly took the time to place each one exactly perfectly which involved a lot of placing and replacing. DO NOT RISK YOUR HEALTHY SKIN HERE!!! At first the owner seemed really cool, and it seemed like he had other customers. A black guy was there saying he wanted piercings, but that was a lie because he worked there. Then another girl came in acting like she wanted work done. Turned out she worked there as well. I couldn't figure out why everyone was was perpatrating the fraud until the owner tried to give me the wrong change before he finished my tattoo. He walked out when he realized I wasn't stupid. I left with my tattoo unfinished and paid this fool $100. I went to another tatoo shop to finish the job, and the artist and owner told me it was a bad tatoo. He said the guy must have used a old needle or a bad machine because the lines were not good and it looked infected. He ethically refused to finish the tatoo because of the condition my skin was in. I'm so pissed because this unprofessional person not only tried to Rip me off but may have ruined my skin. Beware of this place! This is not the cleanest place but it's not dirty either. It's just one of those low brow tattoo places that don't require an ID. You get what you pay for. I paid $30 for my tattoo and the line work is extremely sloppy. I showed Dave where I wanted my tattoo (on my sternum) and he replied with " you got some big ass titties) which was out of line and extremely uncomfortable.If you're underage and want a small tattoo for cheap, come here :)I went to MID TOWN TATTOOS for my next tattoo and it's amazing! Love Dave's! It used to be super annoying to have to guess what time he was open or if he was going to answer the phone when he had two shops, but now with the shop on Crenshaw the business hours are a lot more stable. I have 3 Tattoos and they have all been done at Dave's! I love the cleanliness of the shop! All of the Artist are laid back and friendly! Really nice, chill people. However, I can't recommend this place. I was pierced at the wrong gauge (6g but was told it was 10g) and the tapers were left in and not followed with plugs. I only found out I had 6g's in instead of 10g when I went to another shop to finally get plugs. Imagine if I ordered 10g plugs online and tried to put them in. And letting someone walk out with tapers and telling them to keep them in for like a month is not cool. Read Less

This is one of the dirtiest and unfriendly shops I've ever been in. Ghetto doesn't begin to describe it. I walked in and the customer service was terrible. There are no portfolios laid out. when I finally asked to see one the work was really amateur. The artists working there say they have all been tattooing for years but it doesn't show. the place looks like a disease infested cesspool. I did not end up getting tattooed there. to top it off i saw a cockroach crawl out and onto the counter. I wish I could rate it lower than one star. Read Less

I don't usually write reviews but this i must. So I went to get my helix piercing here and by far the worst experience. I go inside the shop and the lady doing the piercing was a complete jerk. She seemed annoyed from the beginning til the very end that I left.  The shop does not look appealing. After the lady with the pink hair did my piercing she left it bleeding and didn't bother to clean it at all!! And to top it off after my friends and I left a guy from the store followed us and tried to sell weed. Ugh!!  The price overall was $15 but the experience was the worst. Read Less

I have never felt more of a need to write a review on a business. Dave's Tattoos has two locations. The current one listed does not exist, they are now on Crenshaw and 43rd st and Crenshaw and Venice Blvd. I went to get an impulsive tattoo with a friend. I was hesitant the second I walked in, the place was dirty. There were two tattoo artists working and they were not friendly at all. I have eleven tattoos already so I know quite a bit about tattoos and i got a small triangle on my wrist. The woman told me not to put lotion on it while it healed which I thought was odd because every other artist has told me to keep it clean and apply thin coats of non-scented lotion and A&D ointment. I got my tattoo Saturday and by Sunday it was infected. The ink now has fallen out in certain spots and it looks awful. I've always been told if you get a cheap tattoo, you're gonna get a cheap tattoo. I would not come back here to get it fixed if they refunded my money. I am going to have to wait for this tattoo to heal and get it fixed by my srtist.NOT WORTH THE CHEAP PRICE! Read Less
